Development of Doctrine

My mind is open
I'm waiting to you to provide evidence for your claims.
It appears you have none.
Everyone thinks their mind is open, even when it clearly isn't. It's a waste of time to try to show you the truth.

You're joking, right? I have no interest in wasting my time trying to prove anything to you. Since your mind is closed, it is an impossible task!

If it's an impossible task it is because you have no evidence for your claims.

Go, then, and read these:

Tit 3:2 to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.

1Pe 3:15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
The Bible is excellent. Be gentle, love your neighbour, harm no one, etc. Now think back to the Catholic Crusades, the inquisition and the thousands they killed, all for the sake of their religion.
.

Great post!

What about the thousands that Protestants slaughtered all for the sake of their religion.
Atrocity swapping does nothing for Christian harmony.

As has already been pointed out, it wasn't just the Catholics. Not to mention, even when there were Catholics doing very bad, un-Christlike things, there were also Catholics doing very good, Christlike things. I strongly suggest you read Bullies and Saints, by John Dickson for a more thorough historical understanding.

I ordered this book on Amazon for my Kindle. It looks interesting!

Actually, atrocities do nothing for the Christian faith. Just ask the children who were sexually abused in recent years in New Mexico how many of them are turned away from Christianity forever. Or the Native Americans who were murdered by the thousands -- ask them what they think about Christian harmony.

I don't want to have a harmonious relationship with anyone who turns a blind eye toward history.

What does "I think tradition and Tradition get mixed up" mean?

tradition is something that we do year after year because it becomes a custom of a particular place, or people.

Tradition is what the CC calls the information that was passed on that may not be a part of the NT. However, it was passed on by reliable persons. Someone else may have a better explanation.

You're probably correct in saying that the study of church history is sorely lacking in Protestantism. Most history, including church history, is propaganda. It is almost always the whitewashing of what actually happened in order to justify the behavior of those who hold power.

The Nazarene church had started a history program.k
History is history.
I learned from both the CC and I also looked up different sources so I could get a good idea of what was going on.

If you don't trust history at all, then how would you suggest we study history?
Try looking up a few different sources. That's what I would do.

Long ago, (1980), there was a ground-breaking book written by Howard Zinn entitled "A People's History of the United States". It is a 1980 nonfiction book in which Zinn presented what he considered to be a different side of history from the more traditional "fundamental nationalist glorification of country". It opened my eyes to just how history most often glorifies the accomplishments of those in power, while denigrating the accomplishments of those who have been suppressed and defeated.

I have no doubt that there could be a similar book written about church history. I have seen the results first hand of the accomplishments of "the church" (meaning the Catholic denomination) in the Western hemisphere: the wholesale slaughter of indigenous people, the destruction of indigenous cultures, and the forced "acceptance" of Catholicism. I doubt that the phrase "kill the Indian, save the child" appears in too many church history books.

"History", including church history, is written by the victors. The Protestants were considered by the Catholics to be traitors and heretics. Does that answer your question about why Protestants aren't interested in "church history"?
No. Of course it doesn't answer my question as to why church history isn't taught.
I believe it's because the Protestant denominations know they were not the first and they'd have to admit that maybe Jesus did give the keys to the Kingdom to Peter. And maybe he was one of the first Popes.

Many denominations teach that the CC is a cult.
This is nonsense. And studying history would prove that it's nonsense.
