Who do you think the sons of the kingdom are in that verse?

And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Matthew 8:11-12

They are the sons of the kingdom of heaven.

People of the kingdom of heaven.

No need to wonder.

The answer is in Matthew 8:10 if you really want to know.

As we see, verse 10 focuses on the faith of a Gentile that caused Jesus to marvel.

However, that surely doesn’t make the “sons of the kingdom” mean something other than the sons of the kingdom of God.

When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

They are the same as "sons of God" in Ps. 82. In heaven they're heavenly hosts, known as the "thrones", "powers", "principalities"; on earth they are human authorities running all sorts of human institutions. If I remember it right, the Greek word is "archon" - "chief" or "ruler". "Kingdom of God" and "kingdom of heaven" are interchangeable, it's universally called "kingdom of heaven" because the name of God cannot be uttered among Jews in fear of blasphemy, which is violation of the third commandment - "you shall not take the Lord God's name in vain."

I said, “You are gods,
And all of you are children of the Most High.
But you shall die like men,
And fall like one of the princes.” (Ps. 82:6-7)

Discriminating Love of Jesus Christ !

Here we have the discriminating Love from the Saviour's Mouth Rev 3:19

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Now if Christ Loved all men without exception, why the discriminating statement here " as many as I Love " ?

He goes on to say of them He Loves, that He rebukes and chastens, and to them He commands to Repent !

The Fact is this, Christ does not Love all men without exception, and they are without chastisement from Him Heb 12:5-8

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all[Sons] are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Christ Loves only His Own in this wicked World Jn 13:1

Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

Now something I will add in this regard, Remember the Rich Young Ruler of whom it is said Jesus Loved ? Mk 10:17-22

17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

Now remember, Heb 12:5-8,11 about chastening ? Notice Vs 11

11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

That word grievous is the same word grieved as in Mk 10:22, so Jesus Loved that young ruler and made Him feel grief, because He was chastening him because He Loved him !

I have no doubt that the Young Man will be in Glory, because Jesus Loved Him ! Whose Love is discriminate ! 9

If you are able to just make up words of your own and apply them to scripture, then obviously you can come up with your own personal interpretation.

Elect refers to Jews in Matthew 24 as well as other places, like
2 Timothy 2:10
It doesnt have to say the exact words. Also election doesnt show respect of ethnicity, its of Grace, that reaches all ethnicities.

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace.

You make it appear God shows respect of persons with His Grace based upon the flesh, ethnicity. Paul considered being a jew a thing of the flesh Phil 3:4-5

4Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:

5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

And yet you promote election by race ! Thats like saying, God chose to save white people by Grace over other people because they are white !

Matthew 8:11-12

Obviously “sons of the kingdom” refers to those who are citizens of God’s kingdom, but lose their place and are cast into outer darkness.

Jesus teaches this in Matthew 25 -

And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
for I was hungry and you gave Me food;
I was thirsty and you gave Me drink;
I was a stranger and you took Me in;
I was naked and you clothed Me;
I was sick and you visited Me;
I was in prison and you came to Me

And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
“But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me
.’ Matthew 25:25-36

Matthew 8:12 but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Jesus was talking about the Jews, the sons of the kingdom.

Most of the sons of the kingdom were indeed Jews before the Gentiles were grafted into the covenant.

Of course we see the time frame of the return of Christ as being inclusive of all of the sons of the kingdom.

When Jesus returns He will send His angels to gather all who offend out of His kingdom.

On that day, all the labels men may have made up to classify themselves as being part of God’s kingdom, will mean absolutely nothing.

The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Matthew 13:41-43

Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

The elect refers to Jews in most places.

Election refers to purpose election according to purpose, NOT elected for salvation.

  • that the purpose of God according to election might stand

For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh, who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.” That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed. For this is the word of promise: “At this time I will come and Sarah shall have a son.”
And not only this, but when Rebecca also had conceived by one man, even by our father Isaac (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls) Romans 9:3-11

Election according to purpose indeed!

From Romans 11:25-36:

"Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,

“The Deliverer will come from Zion,
he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;
“and this will be my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”

As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy. For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

“For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?”
“Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?”
For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen."

Many are called, few are chosen. I think many confuse election (the act of being called by God) with salvation (being sanctified by the Holy Spirit).

So yes, many are elected few are sanctified. Those who are sanctified were once elected and still remain elected.

Get the difference? Are you elected by Him or sanctified by Him?

Suppose that one has never had wine before and they are called (elected) to taste real wine out there in public. They are given two options both bottled and labelled identically "Salvation Wine" and a manual for what wine is and is not. Also suppose one bottle only has vinegar (provided by Satan) and other has real wine though (provided by God). When one starts gnashing their teeth should they still continue drinking vinegar? Wouldn't eventually puking it all out and starting with the good wine testify to the free gift given by God? Yet by stubborness for fear of puking out in public some people leave and hide in their house and never come out. Others keep puking out in public or some going to the extremes of self will never puke but keep drinking. Who is going to do the cleanup? Aren't others new who come in to partake of the wine be terrified of the ordeal and just leave too? Drink carefully people! And clean up after yourself when puking in public in case you chose the vinegar. Then start drinking the free wine which is a gift.

Those who have tasted of the good wine know what is good wine. It's not too late for those drinking vinegar either for they have the manual telling them the symptoms of drinking vinegar. By the way if you are drinking good wine cork it up when done. It can turn into vinegar too. It's all in the manual.

The elect refers to Jews in most places.

At first, most of Gods elect were jews, but not because of their ethnicity, it was according to grace Rom 11:5

5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

But not so much in the New Covenant age, most of the elect are Gentiles,

and ethnicity isnt a factor again, they are out of all ethnicities, Germans, Africans, Asians, Spanish etc

However you advocate election according to the flesh, jews,

Thats evil

No, you are confusing "called" with "chosen."

This is the calling (invitation.)
Mat 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Here are the chosen (eklektos)
John 17:6 "I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world.
John 17:2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.
John 6:37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me

Everybody who hears the gospel is called.
Few are chosen and given to Jesus to give eternal life to.
But that "few" is still a multitude that no man could number.
