Bible Study Does James 2 Teach Works for Salvation?

Paul isn't even talking about justification in that chapter, lol.
That makes 1 cor 13:2 untrue?

1 cor 1:1
Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:

3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

1 cor is about salvation yes
1 cor 13:13 uses the word eternal
Thanks

Peter's not talking about justification in his discourse either, lol.

If you believe that all the things that Peter lists there in 2 Peter 1:5-11 makes you righteous then you are serving a works gospel. You are anathema.
He says we must do them to make our election sure

“Faith alone” rejected

2 pet 1:11 goes with Jn 3:5
Initiation or entrance to the kingdom and union with Christ and communion with God and His saints thanks

i do apologize for not reading the many messages in this thread, but would like to give my two cents on this topic.

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. (22)
And this is His commandment, That we should

1) Believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ (FAITH),
AND
2)
Love One Another (WORKS),
as He gave us commandment. (23)
And he that keepeth His commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in him. And hereby we know that He abideth in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us. (1Jn 3:22-24)

Woe to those who believe 1) is all that is needed. (Faith ONLY)
Woe to those who believe 2) is all that is needed. (Works ONLY)
Faith and Works is needed for one to be Truly Saved. Period. Jesus Himself COMMANDED us to Have WORKS, when He COMMANDED us to Love One Another, which is nothing but WORKS.

And hereby we know that He abideth in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us.

And who are they that Gets the Spirit?

Act_5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that OBEY HIM.

And what does HE COMMAND us to do? LOVE ONE ANOTHER, nothing but Works. Those who FAIL to Love One Another, are indeed disobeying the Lord Jesus.

Faith & Works go hand in hand:

as Jesus' Blood has washed all of our sins both past, present and future to all those who believe on Him and His finished work at the cross

Rom_3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins THAT ARE PAST, through the forbearance of God;

Does NOT say or teach this:

Nicolaitan_3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, present, and future, through the forbearance of God;

And who are those that are cleansed by His Blood according to the Word of God?

1Jn_1:6-7 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But IF (CONDITIONAL) we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Who are they that are cleansed from ALL SIN? ONLY those who walking in the light like Jesus did, are cleansed by His Blood. Those who walk in darkness are NOT walking in the light, no matter how loudly the yell they are covered by His Blood.

Charity is not how you are made righteous.

If you think it is, you believe a works gospel. You are anathema.

Faith & Works go hand in hand:
For as much as works do indeed accompany salvation (Hebrews 6:9), and must accompany it, they do not MAKE you righteous. The imputation of God's righteousness occurs entirely by having your sin forgiven through faith in the blood of Christ. Doing works of righteousness is not how you are made righteous (Ephesians 2:8-9). We are made righteous to do righteous works (Ephesians 2:10).

As long as you continue to believe, your future sins when you get to them become past sins and are forgiven through the blood of Christ you continue to believe. It's the sin that is willfully and deliberately committed in unbelief that the blood of Christ does not cover. It can't. The blood only remains to cover sin where faith remains.

Who are they that are cleansed from ALL SIN? ONLY those who walking in the light like Jesus did, are cleansed by His Blood. Those who walk in darkness are NOT walking in the light, no matter how loudly the yell they are covered by His Blood.
A lifestyle of obedience signifies the presence of faith in salvation, just as a lifestyle of disobedience signifies the absence of faith in salvation. That's why the person who has James' 'faith alone' is not saved. Faith that is alone, having no works, is actually the absence of faith. The righteousness of God secured by faith apart from works is not present in that person to then produce works of righteousness.

James 5:20
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Matthew 7:7
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Matt 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

1 cor 13:2 & 1 cor 13:13 charity

1 Peter 4:8
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

Really?

None of these things MAKES you righteous.

Only the forgiveness of God in Christ received through the hearing of faith can MAKE a person righteous.

That is the righteousness that saves from death - God's righteousness. The righteousness Abraham received when he heard and believed - Galatians 3:6. And the same righteousness that we receive when we also hear and believe - Romans 4:23-24. It is the righteousness that comes by the hearing of faith apart from works - Romans 4:6.

Catholics are erroneously taught and believe that a person is made righteous by the working of faith. Which is not faith in Christ at all.Thay's why it's anathema. They trust in their work.

If one believes, there won't be any future sins.
Believers rejoice in 1 Cor 10:13..."There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
And Romans 6:6-7..."Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin."
And Romans 6:18..."Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness."
And Rom 6:22..."But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life."
And 1 John 3:9..."Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."
And 1 John 5:18..."We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not."

Which of those verses don't you believe?

Which of those verses don't you believe?
I believe all of them. But not apart from the whole counsel of the Bible.

For as much as works do indeed accompany salvation (Hebrews 6:9), and must accompany it, they do not MAKE you righteous.

Don't make you righteous, you say. Know you not that those who Do Righteousness are Righteous, and those who do not do righteousness are UNRIGHTEOUS.

Rom_6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

So then Righteousness is granted to a person that OBEYS Jesus, namely to Love One Another as He COMMANDED us to do. Those who obey Jesus and they actually DO Love One Another, are they that are Righteous. But those who disobey Jesus and Fail to Love One Another, are NOT Righteous, no matter how much they think Jesus gives it to them.

Mat_5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. (So then something to attain, something we are to DO.)

Act_10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and WORKETH righteousness, is accepted with him. (Again we DO this, it is not something we have)

1Co_15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. (If we are told to Awake to Righteousness, and SIN NOT, that is something we DO, it is not automatically given to us, as this last days generation loves to believe)

Gal_5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. (Yet another inspired by God verse that plainly teaches we are waiting for the HOPE of Righteousness by Faith. NOT something we have now.)

Php 1:10-11 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits (WORKS) of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

2Ti_3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS:
(Not that we automatically are righteous, we are INSTRUCTED so that we can walk in Righteousness, which is namely OBEYING God, and Loving One Another, which is nothing but WORKS)

Do we gain a crown of Righteousness when We accept Jesus and GET SAVED? NO.

2Ti_4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me (Stored) a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day (NOT the day you GOT SAVED): and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing (At the Rapture).

1Jn_2:29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him. (Which brings me back to what i said, those who Do righteousness are Righteous, those who FAIL to do that which is righteous, are UNRIGHTEOUS, and it does not matter what they believe is the Truth.

1Jn_3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.. .. . . 8. . .. . .9 . . . . ..10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
(So if you choose to do something that is NOT righteous, you are not of God. This last days generation has no clue how narrow and Difficult the path is to Life everlasting, and only a VERY FEW will find it, they love their false doctrines that teach EASY Christianity, and will NOT take any exhortations from God's prophets. There will be Billions of professing Christians that will be weeping and gnashing their teeth, when they realize they have been on the broad and wide and easy path all along. But Good News though, i have told you the Truth, so that you can be one of the FEW that are chosen in the end.

The imputation of God's righteousness occurs entirely by having your sin forgiven through faith in the blood of Christ.

True, this is accomplished the very day you GOT SAVED. AFTER that, is entirely a different story. All of you would do well to watch my video on Getting Saved Vs Living Saved, They are not the same thing.

Doing works of righteousness is not how you are made righteous (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Jesus gives us His Righteousness the very day a person GETS SAVED, All their past sins are forgiven them and cast into the sea of forgetfulness. They are made white as snow, they are washed CLEAN, they are 100% PURE. And the very moment you freely chose to get yourself dirty again, to turn your white as snow into muck, to turn you 100% Pureness to <100% Pure. YOU chose to disobey and return to darkness, return to your own vomit, return to the Old man and his deeds, YOU CHOSE to leave His Righteousness that was upon you. Again watch my video about Getting Saved, Vs Living Saved.

We are made righteous to do righteous works (Ephesians 2:10).

When we GET SAVED, we are indeed made Righteous by Jesus Christ, through His Righteousness are we made Righteous. AFTER He does this for us, we are to live by the Word of God, we are to OBEY what He COMMANDS us to do. We have been made Righteous via Jesus Christ, we are suppose to LIVE for ONLY HIM, and not our own selves, we to obey ONLY HIM, now that we are made White, Clean, Pure, we are to no longer do the deeds of the old man, we are A NEW CREATION, because we are 100% cleansed of our sins by Jesus Christ and what He did for us, We are NOT to continue to live as we did before. We are to walk in the light like Jesus did, NOT walking in darkness like atheists do.
Jesus went to the Cross for you ONCE, the very day you accepted Him as your Savior and Lord, He took all your past sins and forgave them, and was punished for those sins, HE did this ONCE for YOU, the very day you Got Saved. He does NOT continue to go to the cross every single time you commit sins after you have accepted Him. YOU will pay the penalty for any sins you commit, after you have accepted Him. This is the Truth of God.

Show me a single scripture that says we cannot cease from sinning.
Wow, my heart leaped with joy, upon reading this. The answer is NONE. Wow, was not expecting this from someone. Truly you are being taught by the Holy Spirit of God. For those who are being Taught by the Spirit of Truth, know there is not one single verse that teaches it is not possible to cease from sinning.

Jas 3:2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

i testify that i am as this verse describes. It is possible, ALL THINGS are possible to them that know God.
