Get a Google or Yahoo email account and use that as your primary email for friends and family. Don't give it out to anyone else and tell them not to share it with anyone.

That's what I do.
.

Have you reported it to your ISP yet? I'm not sure but I think there is something they can do. Espcially when they are using emails from lists on web sites such as this one, Facebook, etc.

Reba, get yourself some stamps and go back to regular mail. :wink

Gmail is good. Also, most, if not all, email services have filters. You can add those email addresses from which you are getting this unwanted emails to a filter. In gmail there is actually a little feature that allows you to report something as spam. Once you do it automatically goes right into your spam folder.

Reba, if these creepy emails are from people you have on your address book, or they have you on their address book, then there's ways things can be sent out your way via malware, hacking accounts, etc. without them knowing it.

First and foremost, those involved must change their passwords and maybe for a time being even set up all emails to manually type in a password as opposed to having the machine remember it. If it stops, then that's the problem which I suspect is already the case.

I know I never have people on my address book for this reason. The computer can "autofill" which is good enough for me. But hacking/malware CAN be remote, e.g. on the servers with the email. This happened to my wife with her yahoo email something hacked her account and was sending emails from there, not our local computer. But she has all these names in her address book which did not help matters.

They did this to me too. They'll get in to your contact list and send all of your contacts spam. Weird stuff. The only thing you can do I think is to get a new email and don't use your browser with that email open. I haven't started getting spam in my new one yet.
