Entertainment is killing the Church!

God is so merciful and kind, so loving! HE gave us Christ - the only Begotten! who does that kind of thing? we have been so ungrateful, messing up everything

Willie, Reba and Blake have, pretty much, nailed it.We are taught in the scriptures that the Church will have a weeding of itself in these End Times. We see that happening. The twentieth century Church was the Laodicean Church and that has followed the logical path of growth to this point.

God's Church has never been a matter of numbers though Classik's post is all about that. In the mid-eighties less than 2% of the Church Building's membership was God's Church and I find no issue with that number falling.

But Classik, God's Church, the people that are Christ Followers as never been all of the people in the building, even Jesus had His own personal Lucifer with Him in His Earthly Ministry. If all the buildings turn to entertainment, the Church wilol meet for worship in my, Reba's, Chopper's and many other Living Rooms, just as it began.

Are we talking about entertainment or rejoicing and dancing to the Lord? I personally don't see any place for entertainment (which only serves ourselves) in the Church.
I find the music encouraging.
Sticks a good song in my head the whole week. My friends in the choir all encouraging me all week long. Occasionally its the youth choir doing it.

To me, its the best part of the weekly service.

To me the best part of the weekly service is spending time in prayer worshiping the Creator and Savior in fellowship with other Christian believers. Personally, I'm not there to serve me but to serve the Lord. That is why in previous threads I've commented something along the lines of it is not what we get out of the service that matters but what we put into the service.

I enjoy that part too. Joining in earnest prayers with others is encouraging as well.

But the music is still my favorite.

I dunno. I think sometimes, people think you're not a real Christian unless you endure boring sermons and lots of Fire and Brimstone preaching without uttering a single complaint. I guess the idea is that "real" Christianity is supposed to painful (?). I dunno....I think entertainment, especially music, can be a good thing.

I think we're a media-saturated, over-entertained culture. I don't know what that's about...technology I guess. I think its important to look at the surrounding culture before you come down to hard on the church.

Sometimes you say the most astute things. Despite the way I ride you on some subjects, you are right on target for so much more.

I don't find the Spiritual Truths of scripture to be boring. And people are hungry for truth and where it is preached, the people flock. But we as a people think ourselves to good for pure truth. But the scriptures teach us know the truth and the truth will set you free.

We, as a people, do not go, first to God, no, that is our last option. A good example is a word used in every newspaper in the world and is pronounced on every English News Service in the world, used by politicians, teachers, and any collection of normal people meaning to molest. I am warned not to use the four letter version of this act that when I used it had not a single thing to do with anything sexual nor was the usage nasty.

I routinely use the word to describe pulling a scripture from God's contextual use of the Bible and the only way it can be construed as a nasty "four letter" word is if a person's mind is in need of repentance. But that is where the people are.

Satan does not want truth used or taught in it's pure form and that is why soft spoken panty waisted men with no fire for the Word of God are so popular. The people of today have been infected by Satan and a minority find truth offensive and it is! Just as you find Hell-Fire and Brimstone preaching offensive, too many find even lesser offensive preaching unbearable and the Christ Followers are being weaned out, slowly but surely, and placed off to the side, out of effective service, so as to speak. None will ever be save this way for they will not know the truth.
