“The Scriptures are full of enigmas and inscrutable questions which have been in dispute for over a thousand years without agreement, nor can they be resolved without love, which appeases all controversies. Yet on account of these enigmas the earth is filled with innocent blood ... On controversial points we would do better to defer judgment, even as God, who knows us to be guilty, yet postpones judgment and waits for us to amend our lives. To kill a man is not to defend a doctrine. It is simply to kill a man.” - Jacobus Arminius

In which I must say that the freedom of religion is a good thing. Even though I don't agree on all points we have the freedom to live in error until some good soul sets us on the right course. I am thankful for the opportunity to have had the freedom to live in error until study and good souls straightened me out.

I'm slow at times.

What does the 1st paragraph have to do with the 2nd paragraph?

In Christianities mid-ages the church was state appointed and a spirit of Jezebel would set in. The spirit of Jezebel is to dominate and control. You would not have wanted to have spoken out against the Jezebel who was in control. Michael Servetus tried this and ended up a martyr.

In my family we have Catholics, Greek Orthodox, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostals, and Charismatics. In which I could find good and bad in each people. I am glad I have had the opportunity to pick the church of my choice, and not have been forced to join just one. I still to this day visit a variety of churches. And if I am in error after listen to someones presentation, work it out with God in my own way.

I find great comfort in knowing the following: Matthew 5:9 "blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." Heaven will be peaceful.

Romans 12:17-19 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.

It works out in the end for peacemakers, so nothing to worry about if you are one. Meaning, God's justice is for God alone to carry out and let people be who they are.

In Michael Servetus case it was the reformers that ended up having him killed.

Other than that, I agree.
Both Catholics and Protestants will have to answer to God.

Hey All,

" . . . the earth is filled with innocent blood ... "
Quote from Rockytopva's post

Rightly said.

If I have the ability to stop this, and only way to stop it, is by killing the person shedding the innocent blood, do I not have an obligation to kill? I believe I do.

If I have a way to stop a terrorist, or a mass school shooter, should I just stand there and let human destruction happen? Would you?

Do I have the right to protect my household from attack? I would be worse than an infidel if I stood there and did nothing. I am sure we agree if we are both believers.

We sleep pretty well in America because good people, our collective sons and daughters, protect us. They have to use, or be ready to use, deadly force to do it. Sin caused this.

I take antibiotics when I have an infection. Is it wrong to kill the germs and bacteria that left alive, would kill me? How far does "Thou shalt not kill" go?

I use mouthwash in the mornings.

Do you eat meat?

I know I am being a little extreme. But it makes my point.

Life is not black and white alone.

Is Ecclesiastics not equally true:
Ecclesiastes 3:8
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Is killing a sin if there is a greater principle overrides it?

John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Killing without just cause is a sin. No argument. There are times when there is no other choice.

Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz
