Futurist vs Preterist debate

He probably can but that would open up a can of catholic teachings which we aren't allowed to post, i have the documentation but the same thing applies..

Oh, go ahead and tell us.
If we don't knock the Roman Catholic Church but just quote their historical writings, it's okay.

Any historical writings have nothing to do with criticizing the RCC or Catholics today. It is not a discussion about their doctrines that differ from the Protestant doctrines.
So if there are historical writings that point to where preterism began I personally do not see how they violate the TOS. :shrug

It is a fine line hard to define. .. so be careful ... and do not bash....
This is how the TOS reads

Discussion of Catholic doctrine is limited and will only be allowed in the One on One Debate Forum and End Times forum only. RCC content in the End Times forum should relate to End Times beliefs. Do not start new topics elsewhere or sway existing threads toward a discussion or debate that is may be viewed as ‘Catholic’ in nature.

reba has posted the guidelines.

So if you have documentation I would ask that you post it. Thank you, Deb

The last time i did this management closed the thread, what you could do is do like i did, look it up, its in public domain.. Look under "counter reformation" "Jesuits and Counter Reformation" but you'd best hurry they've been closing some of the sites where i got my documentation.. like the one that showed how Rome has complete control over our laws and education by way of concordats, you know like the concordat she had with Germany during WWII

i copied this before they closed the site where i obtained it..

ITCCS researchers have discovered that at least 173 nations have signed secret treaties or Concordats with the Vatican, many of them since 1982, which channel untold billions of dollars of taxpayers' money into church coffers. These countries include Canada, the United States, England, Ireland, virtually all European countries, and most of the third world.

Under the concordats, a regular percentage of national revenue - anywhere from two to five percent - is given to the Vatican either directly or in the form of subsidies to church-controlled businesses or "charitable" societies. In 2010 alone, Spain granted 262 million Euros to the Vatican - or over $350 million - under its concordat, which also entitles the catholic church to help formulate laws and control education

here's the site..

Okay, but how does that deal with their stand on preterism?

The Reformation preachers unanimously identified the papal system as the Antichrist, and the Roman Church as Babylon—causing a mass exodus of believers out of the Catholic institution.

Because Rome realized that the Reformation could jeopardize her position as a religio-political power, she employed five strategies in what became known as the Counter Reformation. One of those strategies was the creation of futurism and preterism, two different interpretations of the prophecies in Daniel and Revelation. These interpretations contradicted the reformers' stance of historicism.

According to futurism, the Antichrist is still to come. According to preterism, the Antichrist was in the past. However, this is not Biblical, as Jesus spoke in Matthew 24 of the great apostasy taking place in the future. Both of these false systems disagree with the reformers’ belief that the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy is taking place throughout history.

Throughout the Counter Reformation, preterism and futurism diverted attention away from prophecies identifying the Roman Church as Babylon and the papal system as the Antichrist.

Francisco Ribera
In 1585 Jesuit scholar Francisco Ribera (1537 - 1591) appears. He started the futurist interpretation by publishing a 500-page commentary on the book of Revelation. Ribera took the last “week” (seven day-years) of the 70-week prophecy of Daniel 9:25, divided it into two 3 ½ year periods, and applied it to a future Antichrist, while avoiding any application to the papal system.

Deb said Can you provide documentation of this? Writings from RCC originators, etc.. Who or what should one read to verify this information?

the writings from the RCC would not be bashing ... what others say about what they think the RCC could be bashing...

This could be an interesting topic and discussion .... lets not take it to personal and get the thread closed... please keep this very good piece/peace of the TOS in mind....

2.4
: No Trolling. Do not make an inflammatory remark just to get a response. Address issues not personalities. Respect where people are in their spiritual walk, and respect all others in general. Respect where others are in their spiritual walk, do not disrupt the flow of discussion or act in a way that affects others negatively including when debating doctrinal issues, in the defense of the Christian faith, and in offering unwelcome spiritual advice.

Come on reba does the devil go on prime time and say catch me if you can? The current pope is a Jesuit and Jesuits don't betray mother church.. Some people i knew were assassinated for obtaining their secrets

This is what gets threads closed ..going to the personal... I have personal feelings about the RCC also... but i have agreed to the TOS

Then my hands are tied once again, its not personal reba unless you believe Rome is a Christian institution, then it would be very personal. Is that what you mean?

tob

My guess would be you do not have writings from the RCC which state your case... so we move on...
