Your mind is made up. By focusing on whether or not the police killed George you are missing the point. Something is wrong in this country if that one incident, upon which no one can agree, can spark riots all over the country.
No...my mind was not made up.
The video everyone seen looks horrible.
Everyone could see from the security footage that George was high on something.
Now what we don't know is what happened from the time he stumbled on the sidewalk to when he ended up back out in the street...
And if you read what I originally said after looking at the videos that it looked like murder.
But I've since changed my opinion. Because the facts show something.
The police should have gotten up sooner as George stopped moving.
That way George could have died sitting up.
But he didn't.
My Sister-in-law was at a peaceful protest earlier yesterday in GA. It was peaceful and happy. There were police present and thanking them and handing out bottles of water to them.
The photo ops came and they went home.
Something similar was to happen here in Nashville. And as the last people were leaving the protest some thugs came along and blended in and began to become a riot.
Broadway was trashed. Spray painted buildings and cars... windows broken... businesses broken into and looted. (Lots of touristy stuff and restaurants)
This is Nashville...our police may be firm but they aren't ever ugly. They got church on Sundays and friends to answer to for their behavior.
We have never had a case of police brutality here. These guys and women are our friends and neighbors.
If anything, they focus on not being overwhelming and intimidating.
There's actually no time for those kinds of things here. Until the quarantine there had been a severe labor shortage... anyone and everyone who wanted a job could have one. Decent pay as well for low skill jobs.
I, as a skilled trade, regularly turn down lots of work. Others do as well. We don't have enough people for the jobs that need filling. Even my Wife's job has the same situation.
There's no one to be angry... except for traffic jams and idiots.... that's our biggest frustration in this town. And with schools closed and most people working from home that's not a problem either.
So...the thugs that started the trouble last night came from elsewhere. Their licenses and IDs said so. (They got caught)
They get to find out all about the TN prison system. It's boring. Troublemakers get the few little nice things taken away. It's not a fun place.
