George Floyd and the Liberal Lynch Mob

When Jesus overturned the tables of the money-changers in the synagogue was that a protest against the establishment. He was arrested. And treated pretty badly. But he can also be a model for change. I've always appreciated the fact that the one time Jesus expressed anger it was over money and property. As I said an earlier post we are still fighting over property. And that goes way back to the beginning of time. I don't necessarily like being poor. But I also feel free because I no longer lust after things

I want to get back to the issue social programs for our young. I was a single parent and there were a lot of social programs back in the 70s. It kept my kids occupied and out of trouble. Then I got a job that paid minimum wage and I lost all my access to social programs. It was really a hard time for the family. Thank God for my mother who took them to church programs while I was working. It's okay if the government pulls out of social programs. But the church needs to step in where the government left off. I would love to hear about other social programs at your church.

I know I keep changing the subject but as I lie here I keep thinking of things. What's going on where I live is people's frustration with the high rent. I lived it a senior center and they raised my rent from 1200 month to $2,500 a month. I moved in with my son and we didn't get along so I now live a my church. There is a new kind of homeless person out there here in the Bay Area. They have jobs but they live in their car because they can't afford the rent. They have enough money to hire a security guard to watch over the cars in the parking lot. I personally think some landlords think more about money than human lives. So a lot of this anger and frustration is just boiling over at this point. And we have to gird our loins can do something about it. Also when I was growing up a hospital with always nonprofit. Now their business. It goes on and on. And it's always about money. What is missing in our lives when we worship money. Christ

I apologize for making a political statement. Thank you for deleting it. This whole situation is complicated and we all have our own point of view. I studied history in college so I know social unrest precedes change. I have my own ideas about what needs changing based on my own personal bias. As I get older my opinion changes. Only one thing stays certain for me. When the Holy Spirit in in your heart whatever you do or say will be loving. You will have peace and you will want to share it. You will know abundance and want to share it. You will set yourself apart from anger and hatred and cling to love. You will be the woman at the well who is offered living water and forgiveness. You will be the Good Samaritan and help people form other races. You will be Christian.

HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED:

George Floyd, a 6'6" career criminal, was intoxicated and stole cigarettes by attempting to pay for them with with a fake $20 bill. The store employee called police. Floyd was arrested outside the store. He initially resisted arrest. The police had to physically drag him out of his car. They cuffed him. They called an ambulance (probably because of his extremely intoxicated state). They did some police work while he sat cuffed. They moved him to the police car to put him in. Then he resisted again and refused to let them put him in it. So, they put him the ground, per police training. The knee on the neck was also police training.

Preliminary autopsy report is that Floyd did not die of a knee on the neck. No neck injury. No strangulation. No asphyxiation. The knee probably had no pressure on it the entire time, aside from being there to remind the subject that he was subdued and that pressure could be applied in an instant.

So, this cop with the knee on Floyd's neck is 100% going to be acquitted in court of law, even though he stands life-long condemned as a murderer and a racist for just doing his job. It's abuse of power to even charge him with a crime.

It's a lie that racism played any part in this. It's a lie that Floyd didn't resist. It's a lie that the knee on the neck killed him. It's a lie that Floyd was a good man.

PS: The OP isn't meant to be political. It's meant to address a number of assumptions and lies that are contributing to coast to coast chaos.

I hate the rioting going on in Minneapolis. It's really out of hand.

Yeah, we had a riot right here in Cleveland yesterday as well. I think that the whole thing is horrible as a man was definitely murdered, but they're going about this all the wrong way.

Democrats showed with COVID 19 that they'd prefer to destroy the economy than let Trump win re-election. And, now they're showing they'd prefer to have our cities burn than have Trump re-elected.
The knee on the neck was also police training? what!!

PS
This thread is political whether we mention Trump's name or not.

People just need to let the authorities investigate and do there job and allow it to go through the system the correct way process, rather than throwing around accusations. That's why I have been staying out of this.

I just didn't really even understand what was going on myself until I looked further into it.

One little detail that got overlooked is that George and the police officer who put his knee on his neck were actually long time co-workers who had been providing security to a lounge for 17 years together.

Accusations like murder by a policeman clearly shown on camera?
Police suffer enormous stress but thats no excuse.

Amen to that. I want to point out that we have made progress. In Atlanta the police department is changed and the rioting was an affront to those civil rights workers who used the system to work through these issues.

When this is over I would like to see every police department in the country hire good people and fire copy with more than 5 complaints against them.

I always see both sides. I grew in a small town where the policemen were friends of the family and protected you. When I moved to the city in 1967, to be a hippie, I saw the dark side of the police. I was arrested under a law that said it is illegal not to show identification. I showed them my library card and they laughed. I still have a record and they tried to deny me my teaching credential. I protested and got my credential only to find out that the teenagers in the public schools are out of control. So I turned to teaching adults. Now I am a writer. So we have good cops and bad cops. We need more Christian cops.

I keep beating the same drum. Our children need to be in church. We need busses to pick them up if they don't have transportation. This is how I got to my first church. We have to spread the word and be a good example.

Dear Turtel: You are still missing the point. George resisted because he was terrified. Police are known for being violent with black people. This was all about cigarettes therefore an over reaction. Whatever the autopsy says about how he died, he would not have died if he had been released when he cried out for his dead mother.

99% of my experiences with police have been very good. but a colleague of mine was abused and harassed as a teenager. one event turned him off the police for life.
I will give the police the benefit of the doubt because I couldn't do their job.
but in this case the policeman lost his cool. He went too far. this has to be admitted and owned. A huge error was made. And look at the consequences.

I mentioned this in another post. My son called the police when a security guard refused him entry into Macys. Two cops came. They handcuffed Karl. He is 6'6" like George. My son said God told him this man was going to hurt him. So Karl asked the less hostile policeman to walk him into the precinct. The second man agreed that Karl was in trouble. He said, "You picked the wrong cop to piss off."

At least he's (hopefully) with Jesus now though. :)
