Getting Back In Shape

Ashwagandha reduces the stress hormone cortisol, I've had nothing put positive effect from taking it. My mood stays calm.

It makes me feel good I don't have any anxiety and I doubt it was the ashwagandha that caused anxiety in some of those reviews. The herb works just the opposite of anxiety. It's a stress reliever.

I get mine from Swanson vitamins, I take 250mg a day.

Swanson Ultra- Ultimate Ashwagandha - KSM-66
That must be standardized this one is offering 2100 mg

You don't want to take to much mg, 600mg is enough. I was taking to much when I first started 1500mg and that made my thyroid react to good. Sending my t3/t4 levels alittle high like I went from hypothyroid to hyperthyroid.

The link you posted shows 3 capsules equals 2100mg per serving. You can take that but only 1 capsule which is around 700mg per capsule. Definitely don't need much. That depends on body weight though, I'd recommend starting off at a lower dose and have your levels checked adjust as needed. Don't need to worry about not taking the synthetic hormones the ashwagandha starts repairing the thyroid pretty quickly. I waited a month before I got my hormones tested and they were close to being normal after just 30 days. Two months after that and my thyroid was back to normal and never looked back.

I take 250mg of KSM 66 ashwagandha higher concentration, my levels are just right.

Website quote
KSM-66 is the highest concentration, most bioavailable full-spectrum root extract on the market today, retaining all the natural constituents of the herb in the original balance. KSM-66 is the ashwagandha root extract with the most extensive set of research studies and clinical trials.

I had my testosterone checked about a year ago and it's in normal range even at 55.

Your welcome, let me know here, if you do the switch to ashwagandha.

I'd love to hear how it works for you.
I don’t have lab work again until January. I would want to check with my doctor and monitor my levels. It sounds like taking it and the thyroid medication could cause hyperthyroidism

Definitely don't take both you will turn hyperthyroidism.

Wish you luck, some doctors don't like their patients using herbs to heal a thyroid.

There is the business of supplying drugs from their manufacturers. They get kick backs from the companies. They rather keep you on synthetic hormones than heal the thyroid. If someone has thyroid cancer then it has to be removed and they stay on synthetic hormones the rest of their life.

I use to go to a thyroid specialist but I don't go anymore to have my thyroid tested. I use letsgetchecked.com for 99$. Takes a couple of days to get the results.

These days there are a ton of home test kits for all sorts of things, thyroid is one. You don't have to be a doctor to read the results yourself. doctors don't actually do the testing they send it off to a lab, basically just like a lab like letsgetchecked.com that people can obtain all on their own.

The normal range of T4 is suggested to be 77–155 nmol/l, T3 to be 1.2–2.8 nmol/L and TSH to be 0.3–4 mU/l [3]. The levels of hormones above or below the normal range indicate hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism

Here's another thing I take pro-thymus not for my thyroid but the thymus which can be reversed too. Thymus granulars help as well.

The thymus gland is a important part of the immune system. When a person is young it's working properly but it slowly starts shrinking in the early 20's and by the time someone is in their 60's it's nothing but a fat little ball that does nothing to train new T cells in the body.

Its one of the leading causes of aging, when the body can't fight of free radicals and pathogens effectively, we age.

The thymus is where new young T cells are kept for awhile to train them how to fight off diseases before being released in the body. When the shrinking starts it doesn't train the T cells properly anymore. Eventually it doesn't train T cells at all like it's supposed too.

Scientists have no idea why the thymus starts failing but it begins at a early age.

When I went into the 7th grade I was picked on bullied and beat up repeatedly. One time they held me down and slammed a door on my head and gave me a concussion.
Then one day in PE we started lifting weights. There was a universal machine with a bench press and I could bench more than anyone else.
I started lifting weights and by the 9th grade I was a different person.
Someone started a fight with me the second week of school and I hit him so hard his eye swole shut.
After that, I was popular. That’s the thing every kid wants. I got in a lot of fights that year but I never started one.
Lifting weights became part of my identity.
I never competed but I became pretty strong for someone that didn’t use steroids.
My best lifts were Bench Press 405 x 5, Squats 405 x 10, 315 x 20,
Leg Press 1,000 x 10 and Dumbbell Curls 80 x 10
Lifting weights helped me during my time in law enforcement when I got in a tussle with someone.
6 years ago I got married and moved 60 miles from my job. I had to sell all my equipment because I didn’t have a place to put it.
I was driving 2 and 1/2 hours every day and I stopped working out.
I gained 100 lbs.
8 months ago I started a new job that requires a lot of walking. I have issues in my back that cause nerve pain in my left leg and I need a knee replacement on the right side.
3 months ago I started working out again and doing Weight Watchers. I have lost 35 pounds and went down 4 sizes in my pants.
I plan to lose another 40 pounds by December and a total of 100 pounds in a year since I started.
I was totally out of shape when I started and needed a program for people like me. I started doing DDP Yoga, You start out with workouts you can do in a bed or on a mat.
Next you start working out in a chair. Next you use the chair for balance and after that you’re ready for beginner.
I also bought the X3 Bar Gym which is resistance bands. The bar was too short so I bought a long bar. I use it, a Total Gym and dumbbells.
I feel so much better. My 60th birthday is December 2nd and I want to be down to 260 by then.
My plan is to keep working into my 70s.
I recommend DDP Yoga and the X3 Gym if you’re looking to get in shape.
It can take 10 days to 3 weeks for radio frequency ablation to work. Yesterday was 10 days since I had it and the leg pain just disappeared. Even on good days I was limping but now I’m good as new. I hope this continues it will really help me at work.

I have some issues in my back that cause severe nerve pain in my left leg. 2 weeks ago I had radio frequency ablation. They said it would take 10 days to 3 weeks to work.
After 12 days the pain just vanished.
Even on good days I was limping now the leg is pain free. I pray that it stays this way.
I did 4 20 minute DDP Yoga workouts and 3 30 minute resistance training workouts this week on my off days. I work 3 and 1/2 days then have 3and 1/2 days off. It’s a great schedule.
The resistance training is on the Total Gym, X3 Bar Gym and free weights. It’s brief, intense workouts lasting about 30 minutes. Wednesday was Chest, Thursday Back and Friday Shoulders and Arms. Legs get worked during DDP Yoga. I did DDP Yoga workouts Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturday.

started out on a mat with DDP Yoga then moved to a chair and have been doing workouts in a chair. I finished those and started the standing workouts.
It’s quite a workout. I never would have thought you could get a good workout with stretching, lunges, flexing and holding positions but I was drenched with sweat after 30 minutes.

Do you have a problem with motivation? You know you should workout but you don’t feel like it?
I use the Day One Calendar app and write down my goals and all the benefits I will get from working out.
I read books and use other techniques for motivation but I have found the best motivation is just starting. Just commit to doing one set. Once you’ve done that the fog will lift and you’ll feel like working out. It’s as simple as just getting started

Another great thing about the X3 and resistance bands is they don’t take up much space at all. I fit everything neatly in a duffel bag and stick it in a corner.
The books Turning Pro and Do The Work are great for motivation. The War of Art is good too but gets into some areas that a Christian may find objectionable

Tried to post a photo of 3 months ago and now but paste won’t work on this forum for some reason. I’ve lost 45 pounds and hope to lose 40 more by December

That’s fantastic! You can do it!

Only those who donate can post pictures as they take up a lot of space on the servers, costing more money for storage.

Oh okay. That makes sense. I’ll wait until I reach my goal and then donate and post a before and after picture.

288 now and 13 weeks left to get to 260

Create Connect Commit is my program to help people change.
Step two is Connect, join a group of like minded people.
If you want to develop good habits then associate with people who are successful at what you want to do.
In AA people share their experiences with a group. In Weight Watchers people weigh in a group and share their experiences.
People who join group exercise programs have more success.
I train alone and don’t have a group so this website is my Connect.
It’s how I share my experience.
I have a couple of people I have told about my goals and I have the website.

Would you say the Leg extension machine is a leg "builder?" I don't enjoy squats.
