God: he, she or it?

Since the whole philosophy of Christianity is that the God who created this world, but is not of it, is reaching out to us for a relationship with Him... and He has revealed Himself to us as a male.... not a man, but male nonetheless.....

It is correct to call Him by what this... a Divine Being... chooses to be called.

Now, I understand that you don't believe in Christianity... and that's OK, you don't have to.

But, it's a leeettttllleee bit arogant of you to tell Christians that their own belief structure is incorrect and that we need to follow what YOU say to us is correct about our own God, WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN BELIEVE IN HIM!!!!

Can you see where I'm coming from? You seem to be a rational person, surely you can see that if our religious writings, our religious teachers and sages, our faith's believers and our Churches doctrines, all identify our God as male because that is the way He chose to reveal Himself to us, then it is correct for us to call Him male.

I never said you were wrong, and that you NEED to follow what I say.

Seriously, stop misrepresenting my statements.

you say otherwise when you say that strawmen or that god isnt a he or she then why call him it?

because simply that isnt what the bible says. it says he is whom the world say he says'

the bible uses arms and legs of god figuratevely. hebrew idoms the right arm of god isnt a literal arm but is to relate to man so that he can understand as the hebrews have that idea of the right arm being strong and used like the word says. kings favorites had thrones to the right. jesus sits on the right hand of god and reings from that throne on the right hand of god.

Jesus could be reffered to as a male, he was biologically so.

But you can not refer to YHWH, the old testament God, to be a male simply because it ACTS like a male.

God's name: YHWH does not indicate sex.
sheesh.

Yah as in the smallest of letters and from it all things come to be. a point, from GOD
Hey as in breath , as in the breathe which all letter including the Yah are to be said
VAH ( once again masculine form of GOD used by freeman this whole time) God comes down to live or dwell in YOU to protect you from evil or another you draw him into and up out from the heart
Hey as in breathe again

put this kaballah letters together and we get... God is the first thing you see when born and when you take your first breathe and the last thing you see when you take your last breathe.

What a thread! and how futile is speculation, when what God is, is already revealed in the Bible!

To me there's nothing cultural or linguistic about it. God gives life to all things. That makes him a Father. He doesn't birth life that was given him. He IS the source of life that gets implanted and birthed in all creation. That makes him a Father. Not simply taking on the role of a Father. He IS a father.

"13 In the sight of God, who gives life to everything" (1 Timothy 6:13 NIV1984)

(If I remember correctly, the Revised Standard Version puts 'father' for God in the passage.)

"How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live!" (Hebrews 12:9 NIV1984)

You do know that the source of life, AKA the egg is in the FEMALE part? The male reproduction system is just the fertalizer.

Seriously, Atothetheist... just what is your horse in this race for?

Do you seriously want to try to tell us that our God is not a male, when He Himself has revealed Himself to us that way?

You don't believe in God...

....why are you arguing with us about whether or not He is male or "it" is sexless?

and yet you just deny. jesus didnt have a father he was virgin born. he wasnt simply human.

nice try. jesus also said Im that God that you called in the ancient of days. he took worship. if jesus is he then God the father therefore must be he! jesus said he was there when abraham was born. he was there after them and was there when john saw him and he said closely what isiah said the YHWH said in is 44:6. I am the first and the last and beside me theres no other. jesus said im the alpha and the omega, i am he that was, he that is and is to come.

so a vision cant be called he? interesting that is what john wrote in the last book . revalation 1

Yep! Getting ready to jump the ship... I am wondering just why some are making the arguements they are making... especially about a God they don't even believe in...

"I don't beleive in your God... but it's sexless and therefore an it."

YHWH: I am.

The heck? Kaballah? As in the book? Its anciet hebrew and Aramiac.

God has no biological parts to determine whether or not it is a male or female, and can't be called a He or a She. Since it is Sexless, or a being without any type of reproduction system to indicate which Sex, it is not a he or a she.

Just because it ACTS masculine, and the people who wrote the book thought it was masculine, doesn't make it so.

I don't have to believe in Harry potter to know to comment or not whether he is a male or female.

Again, in order for this to work, You would have to convince me Jesus and God were the same person.

Since I don't believe in such ideas, It is a non issue for me.

hebrew letters have both numbers and meaning. one of GOD names is simply this as too it has pictographs

christians and jews call that name el shaddai but it is its crudest form simply
aleph beth. it means great provider, the pictographs tell that story., the kaballah is jewish thing by which they understand the words of their language and use to understand the tanach., they go to far with the zohar and other things of the mystery but not the gemetria which is where 666 comes from.

God also has a number 314 or 5. jesus has that same number. thought? they heard him say it to them and saw him say it. nothing about thinking. if an angel says call me gabriel you just call him gabriel. if the ANGEL unto the Lord says worship me and has sword in his hand and says I am here to fight for you. you do as he says.MOST christians dont use the kaballah nor is it required. i use it to show you how that even a simple name that she / it is denied.

hebrew isnt the only language that has pictographs and numbers with it. greek and also the runes of the norwegian tounges use it.

OK, but are you going to argue that Harry (a fictional character) is sexless and therefore must be referred to as it... even though J K Rowlings presents him to us as a he?

Or are you arguing just to argue....

This isn't your religion... He isn't your God... but for those of us who are His, He reveals Himself to us as a male...

Why are you even disagreeing with this?

We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the promised Messiah, born of a virgin, totally without sin, God in human flesh, the One Who died on the cross for our sins, was buried, rose again from the dead on the third day, and ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven, where He now intercedes for us who believe in Him.

Yes i am serious.

Ok, since I can't call God IT anymore, I will have to settle for another term: he. Again, just because I use the word, doesn't mean I am a believer in such things.

Since I don't want to violate rules and ToS, I am forced to switch to this alternative.

Thanks mods:thumbsup

yet I am a troll in that im an athiest(which means NO god) and yet i by statements here just denied that name for iam an a thiest. you claimed by knowledge that you know a GOD and just defined what that God is. therefore you are dishonest. agnostic dont claim to know a god, athiests deny any god exists and diest claim some from a god but is know but doesnt intervene. thiests of all sorts claim a name and also what he does and doesnt do.

you also have claimed your god is an it. it has qualities.:nono2

Harry potter isn't sexless because J.K Rowling has established he is a guy.

Harry is allowed in BOYS bathrooms, IN THE BOYS COMMON ROOM.

He is made to be a boy.

He has fictional biological parts.

Just because you believe he is a he, and it is your religion, does not make it so.
