I have every right to think negatively about these people. That’s not revenge but I reserve the right to protect myself if one of them gets violent with me or my loved ones and God supports me in that stance I take.

Many of us do this. Cherry picking to support our thesis. That's why there are so many debates on the Bible. If the Bible were conclusive, there would be no discussions.
