Going from one extreme to another

Gosh HS,,,,
I don't think we read the bible for the grammar!!

I know a born again woman (and I do believe she's born again) that is obsessed with make-up.
She talks about that more than she speaks about God.
I just think this is immature for a person that has known God for that length of time (in her case).

Some persons can't live without what they "love".
I just think we should have the proper perspective....

This is why Jesus said that we are to hate everything and love Him/God.
Because if we put God first,,,all else will fall into place.
If we put other things first...we become unbalanced.

As Jesus said....Put first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be given unto you.
Matthew 6:33
27“And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
28“And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
29yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
30“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!
31“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’
32“For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Unbelievers will say silly things re the above verses.
Does this mean a person shouldn't get a job?
It means that the job he does get should be in line with his belief system...
if a person lives according to God's laws....he tends to have less problems
and life seems to be better. Think of the life an alcoholic has, or a drug-dependant
person, etc. This is what it means....to seek God and to live according to His laws.
a life without Ralph ...

Yes I can see why you can say that.
But it will sometimes put him in conflict with people such as the LGQTI community.
Because they have decided the Bible is word for word inerrant.
This is why I prefer Seasoned by Grace's approach. When we are approaching old age and death, all that matters is care and love. Do I really care about others? Can I get past the pettiness? Is it so necessary to win all the time.? Forget the competition. Just focus on the main message of the Bible. Bible Scholars can get distracted by their own obsessions in my opinion. Keep it simple.

the broader message which Seasoned by Grace seems to emphasise.
humble soul
I do love the broader message when I finally achieve it, and I so enjoy the sometimes huge process it takes to get there and all that I learn in that process.
Sometimes it takes me studying anywhere from 6 to 12 topics at a time to come up with a final conclusion.
That gives me "BRAIN BURN" - OWWW :thinking.

I agree to a large extent....

What is the LGQTI community??
I know about the LGBQ...but I know I'm falling behind.
And they decided the bible is inerrant---without mistakes.
I'll wait for your reply because I'm a little confused.

As to the rest...
I agree. So,
I think we always should care about others.
I think we should always get passed the pettiness - no matter what age we are.
It's not necessary to win all the time (just 99% of the time) LOL

And I also believe it is absolutely necessary to focus on the main message of the bible
and not get caught up in verse after verse.
Keep it simple is good.

It's just that sometimes persons are interested in theology, just like some may be interested
in soccer or shopping or cooking, etc.

It just gives me a good reason to get out of bed in the morning!

Extremism in any form is a problem.
If you can enjoy a few beers and stop, great.
If you can quote a few verses of the Bible and stop, great as well.
If you can stop posting after just a few posts ............oops.....we have a problem Houston ......

Yeah.
I doubt Stovebolts, JLB, for_his_glory_wip_Tessa- and the rest of the moderators
would be too happy about that!

oops. Forgot to tag them in...

I have to be honest wondering. I think you are campaigning for me to leave. I hope I'm wrong.

As you know, God commands us to grow continually throughout our lifetime.
These new "tools of study" are taking time to get used to.
I'm not "diving in", but rather taking my time.
My old computer was 9 years old and still Windows 7.
What I have now is light years ahead of where I was, and is already proving its worth in some of my preliminary much smaller searches.
There's a new layer of enjoyment and ease of use that I wasn't expecting, and there is also a nice level of feeling more confident because it's not nearly as challenging as I was expecting. Very user friendly.
I will definitely be sharing in the future when I get more comfortable and more schooled in these new devices.
I love the automatic spell check and punctuation checks and changes.

Here is an analogy.
Learning a new language.
Some learn to speak without fussing too much about the grammar.
Whereas some get bogged down in perfecting the grammar and never learn to speak.
Isn't that the same as some Christians approach to their faith?
They get the "love" message from the Bible and learn to speak it through just practise. They leave the verse analysis to amateur theologians.

What you speak of and I quote you here is sadly called a hollow Christianeeze language that has an absence of any truthfulness or Godly love.
Many, many of us are hungry for people being "authentic" and sincere, and just willing to be real about their own struggles with short-comings and imperfections, as they endure as Paul did to move forward for a stronger faith.

Extremism can be a very good and an important part of ones life like the way Seasoned by Grace is setting up his way of studying. My extremism is to be challenged by various topics to dig deep into scripture, history, maps and cultures of the various eras. I can be reading a verse and get stuck on one single word and will not let it go until I understand how it is used in the full context of the message before I start reading again.

Extremism can also be a bad thing as pushing peoples buttons in trying to force your beliefs on others and not letting go of it. This usually results in arguments that causes division sowing discord among the brothers and sisters.

Some things need to be done in moderation and others things taken to the extreme depending what it is.

I'm a kind of a keep it simple person, but there are some things that need to be dug deeper into for a better understanding that brings out the fullness of truths given by the Holy Spirit. It's easy to say the word love, but to understand what love is you have to experience it in your own self.

I wonder what operating system you have.
I have Windows 8 or 10 (can't remember)
8.1 I checked.

I think learning the new features will be fun for you.

When I first joined this forum (my first one) I used to TYPE
THE VERSES because I didn't know better! From my bible!

Then one day I figured out that if I wrote the first few words,
in Google, the verse would come up.

Then one day I found out about biblehub !

And yes, I agree about growing continually.
There's always something to learn and take away from the N.T.
It can be read by the simplist person and still be understood.
Or it could be studied by a scholar for years.
It's good for everyone!
Because God wanted Himself to be known by man.

Is this you?

Oh,,,I agree.
I said if anyone is obsessed, they should be obsessed with God.
But arguing tends to turn people off.
I like to discuss because I have no one here to speak to...
even my Catholic friends...they talk about church matters instead
of biblical matters.

And I also learn the way you do.
If there's something I don't know...I try to find out about it.
I think that's the only way.
I also find that sharing information solidifies what's been learned.

So, I guess what I mean is: Moderation in everything....but I can't be moderate about God....
I'd talk about theology all day long!
