Yes, especially when they are under the same worship of the true Sabbath, under the end of the 6th. day which is the next day 7th. day Sabbath from the beginning of creation.

Amen. You are right. The thing about Pentecost is it is the Lord's Feast, and a Jew has no ownership of what is supposed to be a Jew and Gentile celebration. There is a reason why there are 2 loaves baked with leaven in Leviticus 23:17 and the traditional reading of Ruth during this time. Which is highlighted by the Holy Spirit being given at Pentecost to Jew and Gentile alike in Acts 2.

What is your perspective on what Paul said in these verse's?

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ... Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations-- ...These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

JLB:

It seems the context is an attempt to impose the Old Testament law on New Testament believers under grace.

I'm going to feel free to jump in since I too observe the Holy Days. It means just as it says. Christians were celebrating those days, and one is not to judge the manner in which they keep them. So, we are free to keep the festivals, new moons, and Sabbaths, realizing these were the schoolmaster to bring us to Christ as Paul stated. In other words, they were prophetic foreshadowings of the Redemptive plan of Yahweh.

That's right, the Christian is free from religiosity, and religious restrictions, and probably these were the same people who were judging them for keeping Yahweh's feasts instead of some keeping worldly standard of religion.

So in a nutshell, I would interpret Paul here as saying do not judge those who keep Yahweh's feasts, and don't listen to them if they push religiosity on you (such as Christmas and Easter).

And about those holidays, it reminds me of what Paul stated:

You are observing special days and months and seasons and years!

These are worldly feasts based in paganism and made Paul distraught.

Gentile Christians were being influenced by a sect of believing Pharisee's from Jerusalem that were compelling these new believers to "keep the Law of Moses"

That is why Paul uses the phrase substance is of Christ...

That is why he said don't let anyone judge you.

But you know all this.If you or anyone else wants keep the Sabbath, that's great.

I was hoping to hear from these folks that started the thread, to see what there perspective was, as they seem to have a different view of the Sabbath than others on this site.

Sorry, but I don't see this in the writings of Paul. Would you not agree that what we call "Christmas and Easter" would have been thought of as Pagan celebrations by Paul? I could be wrong and would like to be corrected if that is the case.

Sorry walteranddebbie, some people just cannot leave well enough alone and take it as a theological argument. I am truly happy you have trusted God and believe that the rest day he appointed is a blessing.

Luke 11:28. ” 28 But He said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”

Happy resurrection, to those who have ceased from their own works of the law and have entered into Gods Rest; THE TRUE SABBATH:-)

We 7th Day Sabbath keepers are the Christians with knowledge, understanding the difference between Moses laws & the Lords REQUIREMENTS! Where is it located about 'new moons' in the Lords creation week before Adam was even created! So we will let you catch up!;)

Yes, he would see them as pagan. That's why he said what he did in Galatians 4:10, but sometimes people lump those pagan festivals in with the feasts days of Yahweh and ironically judge people for keeping the feasts while going ahead and keeping pagan days. That's why he said not to judge the manner in which we keep the feasts, new moons and so forth. Seems some people were getting flak for doing the right thing, and the fact he mentions them shows early Christians keeping the Sabbaths. But these were also Gentiles and the old ways and celebrations were mixing in as well, as Christendom does today, and those are the days Paul is distraught that they kept.

sheesh. while Im not for mandating the shabat for the gentile if a gentile or Hebrew wants to follow that . then let them,. we are that free in Christ. I have done channukah and may do shabat to see. I planned to do Passover and I found out after the fact that a messianic temple didn't charge as most jews do.therefore I will do Passover next year.
