I mean, has hate taken over the lives of most of us (probably, hopefully, unbelievers more than believers), more so than in years past?

I was on Celia Farber's blog and read a post on why she goes to church. She goes because there's a sweetness there, a human-ness that she can't find elsewhere.

Its just...people seem so angry, all the time. TV shows celebrate self-everything. Is the church still a refuge?

All i know is there is a lot of negative around and it effects people. I thought i would ring a friend of mine, good friend who i hae not spoken to for over a year and i was told he is in a mental hospital for phycosis and depression. I was like, dang, not another one.
People are getting messed up these days. Nearly everyone i know is on some sort of phyc med.

if you'd like to find out what can help, sometimes, ALWAYS pray a lot, (constantly), and look into how many people are sick from a deficiency of "drug xyz", vs how many are sick due to a mineral / dietary deficiency. (like the book "Nutrition, the Cancer Answer" from studies done and proven before 1960; then ignored because of lack of profit from it)...

Yes it has my friend. We are in the end times it is not pretty 2 Timothy 3:1-4;2 Timothy 3:13;2 Timothy 4:3-4.But it will get alot worse and devastating during the tribulation. You think it is bad now?It is a walk in the park to what is coming up.

30 years ago people decided and it was published that the general public doesn't consider the church a refuge or haven any more.

how many refuges were there in the time of Noah ? or in the cities of sodom and gomorrah ? oh, there's still some these days, but it's very rare to find.....

finding a church that takes a stand for the truth is even harder than finding one that will help a homeless person. (even a worldly church will sometimes help a homeless person. even sometimes a bartender will, or a janitor)

We are not part of the world ... We have the choice to live in His Kingdom

Luk 12:32 Fear not, @Christ_empowered ; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

He sent the the Comforter for now... we can look to Him and see Light or choose to cry woe woe

we don't have a choice to not live in the world. not of the world, that's why the world hates the ecclesia - the sons of Yhvh.
the world is getting worse and worse daily, 'exponentially' if you will (faster than before).
the woe is to all seeking comfort in anything other than Yeshua HaMashiach. they are doomed. (well, outside the body, Yhvh judges them - those who obey Torah from their heart, He knows (Galatians and Romans).
the worldly playing, marrying, divorcing, shopping, seeking greedy profit, selfish, hurtful to all others, hiding the truth, refusing to allow the truth, the world blind, and pernicious (death dealing), has nothing to offer.
Yhvh the Creator has Life, Eternal Life, Forgiveness of sin, Peace , Joy and Righteousness as free gifts in Yeshua's Grace to those few who are immersed in Him, set apart, born of Abba's Will and not man's and not the flesh.

I thought because i was feeling down it was because of diet so i went and got a heap of tests and they all come back fine. I was not lacking anything. I think its more the fitness. Keeping fit and motivated. I think i need to take up a sport again. Start running around. I should start playing indoor cricket or something.
it's spiritual first, foremost, and before anything else.
if you got just the routine regular tests, they almost certainly lied to you (not necessarily, but keep looking to be sure).
if you can get the "happy pills", and they don't hurt your stomach(the filler used), take one or two a day. everyone needs them and few get them. (most get drugged up instead, and most are willing to do that instead of searching for the truth).

Exercise is excellent for depression,anxiety.

What do you mean by "hate has taken over the lives"?
And why do you hope non-believers are worse? Wouldn't being taken over by hate be a bad place for anyone?
Non, I wouldn't say hate is getting worse over the past years. I don't know a single person in my life who is taken over by hate, believer or unbeliever. What seems to be getting worse is indifference. People seem to care less for the important stuff and fill their lifes with shallow things (like movies, celebrities, social networking and so on). I'm thinking we are bored rather than hatefull, but then again I know many people, christian or not, that are trying to make a difference.

Yeah if you are lucky you can find churches with a real warm and supporting atmosphere that you will barely find in any other context..
Unfortunately not all churches are like that. Some have a judgemental and smug undertone.

Its just...people seem so angry, all the time. TV shows celebrate self-everything. Is the church still a refuge?
My church certainly is a refuge for me. But for reasons other than the ones you stated.
You are right about TV being a poor pastime and a source for shallowness, self-absorption and stupidity. There are good things on TV but most of it is just a waste of time.
But again I don't observe people getting more angry. They are just getting more complacent and shallow and bored. You can't hate if you don't care enough.

Especially playing some type of sports game. I noticed it was only once i stopped playing sport and lost my fitness and getting lazy ,maybe a couple of years after that i started to get very depressed and i turned to the drink.
Alot of people self medicate themselves on alcohol. It is good if a person recognizes that. They can find something else to take the place of the alcohol. It is ok to have a drink once in awhile but not everyday.

What do you think is good to replace it with?. I have a drinking problem. I need help.
You know what kiwidan??? my mom was an alcoholic.I sure wish she would have come to me and said what you have said "I have a drinking problem".That is half of the battle right there.Have you ever been to counseling for your drinking?Do you have a mental illness? It is very common for someone with a mental illness to drink. They are self medicating themselves.

Yes. I do counceling already and i also have to go back to the doc next week for review. My councelor kept bringing up my drinking but i kept deny it as the reason, but now i think she is right, so i will admit it next time and we can start to work on it.
That is wonderful if you are not in denial. My mom was.I told her that I loved her very much and I did not want her to die.Well...she did and it broke my heart. The alcohol killed her.

Larry Crabb wrote a book some time ago that has a lot to say about this......It's called, "Connecting".

So do I kiwidan.Ask most smokers if they smoke because of their anxiety and they will tell you "yes".It is their Ativan. It is best to have no risks such as alcohol or smoking but if you must only have one.The two together is horrible for your body.I used to drink once in a while but not anymore.I only smoke.
