has hate taken over?

I seriously believe there is a very good reason they call it The PRACTICE of Medicine....... They keep practicing, hoping they will figure out how to do it right.
I think it is called research. My brother was into research.I sure hope they find a cure for so many things that are killing people....for one CANCER.

You must be just about the only person in America that doesn't believe they long ago came up with cures for cancer that they just won't use.

All I got were side effects. When one didn't work the doctor recommended another, then another and so on.
Side effects are a number one reason for people going off their meds. Some of them will go away after a while. Some are a real inconvience. Some people are a danger to themselves and to others without their meds so they have to deal with the side effects.

If you count the Lord in. Then it's not on ones own.
We are always praying to God for healing. But to go totally off of your meds because God will heal you is a huge and dangerous risk.Maybe a risk God does not want you to take.God has created psychologists and Psychiatrists and has made those medications available for a reason.

Well having had a brother who was in human research I know that he was very, very frustrated at some of the very promising cures that are in the future that the FDA won't pass or some other reason.

If someone is depressed and the meds really fix the problem then I wouldn't see a reason to go off of them. From my personal experience and from what so many others have told me I have noticed that people still frequently get depressed even with the meds.

Being healed from what? Notice that comment was about quitting drinking, not depression and meds.

Yep. I have a friend who is a nurse. She got MS. Said she wouldn't let a US doctor treat her with the cocktails of nonsense they use.

She went to Mexico, and got what she described as close to horse vitamins. She is totally cured today.

Asking God for healing for everything. We all have something we want to be healed.Sometimes it will happen and sometimes it will not.So do you think someone who has a very serious illness should go off of their meds?Maybe God has provided that person with a physican who has correctly diagnosed that person and that medication will make their life better. What about the Christian Scientists who will not take their children to a physician because they do not believe in them?An illness that could have been helped with a medication and they child dies.We have all read about that in the news.

That is her choice.I know a lady who was incorrectly diagnosed and the doctors told her she had MS when she did not.Getting an incorrect diagnosis can be bad.

Not sure. lol. I dont live in Australia and i am a citizen. I have been there quite a few times, a lot of my family live there, but im not from there or live there.
Why did I think you were Australian?

I mean, has hate taken over the lives of most of us (probably, hopefully, unbelievers more than believers), more so than in years past?

I was on Celia Farber's blog and read a post on why she goes to church. She goes because there's a sweetness there, a human-ness that she can't find elsewhere.

Its just...people seem so angry, all the time. TV shows celebrate self-everything. Is the church still a refuge?
I don't think that hate has taken over - I think materialism and "me-first-ism" have.

Of course, where to materialism and "me first" come from? Not the Lord, that is for sure. So, I guess what I am saying is, people are not turning to God in the numbers we once, not long ago, did.

Don't wait for me to type out the answer, I don't know what the answer is.

(I know you have to be used to that kind of response by now.... It's not sensational enough to simply follow the topic someone wrote in their post.)

Yes,we do live in a "It Is All About Me" world.

Yes, I believe God has provided psychiatrist and anti-depressants. I am not against them. Definitely the last thing you mentioned about parents not taking their children to the doctor, I don't agree with that at all.

I think a hospital RN for 30 years might have a pretty good idea of whether the diagnosis might be accurate.

I am against so many doctors dispensing so many anti-depressants.It is so important to get a correct diagnosis. How do you get a diagnosis for a mental illness? You can't do a blood test for it.But then again I have heard of parents who are in denial and will not take their kid for treatment of signs of depression and the kid commits suicide.
