has hate taken over?

Yes. I do counceling already and i also have to go back to the doc next week for review. My councelor kept bringing up my drinking but i kept deny it as the reason, but now i think she is right, so i will admit it next time and we can start to work on it.

:thumbsup That's good. It's also good that you have a female counselor. We tend to be more open with counselors of the opposite gender.

Have you broached the topic of meds?
.

This whole series of threads has raised my curiosity.

I wonder just how many drugs we all may be on?

Do you have depression?Did you like the book?Did it help you?
I went through about four years of depression. I finally learned to beat it by getting off all the medications they were giving me to combat it.
I firmly believe that other than short-term aids (a few weeks), all drugs do is make you need other drugs.

The book helped me through some very serious anger issues... homicidal type thinking, when I felt there was no one I could talk with about it.

I have heard of people going off their medications and they are fine.It is not that common.I have also heard of people going off their meds and ending up in the ER or killing someone. It is not a smart move to go off of any medications without your physicians advise.

What do you think is good to replace it with?. I have a drinking problem. I need help.
Although I read this book after I quit drinking/using, I think it best describes how to approach the addiction problem. It is called "Overcoming Addiction" the author is Ken Karacsony.

Hey kiwidan...Hey mate.Does this happen in Australia? :lol

I believe there are probably very few people who really need anti-depressants. I got off of them too, but I was never really sure they were working. I just kept taking my doctors word for it, that I needed them. It does have to be a personal decision though.

The problem is that some people have a depression that is not treatable with medication. And then there is some anti-depressants that work for some people and not others. Some doctors have a person on a course of anti depressants for 6 months for the seritonin to be altered. It is very important to get a checkup and have some blood work done because some symptoms of depressions can be a physical cause.A good physician will know that and not just hand you a bottle of anti depressants.

All they ever did for me was mess me up in other areas of my life.

If the anti depressants made you worse and you were not getting any benefit from them then you probably did not need them.

The worse thing about drinking is the stress it causes. Im not sure if guilt is the right word but feeling like a total idiot the next day, especially after saying stupid things. The internet is just as bad when you jump on drunk and start posting stupid things feel like a idiot the next day.
I would say that the stress/guilt is part of the reason most people quit.

I seriously believe there is a very good reason they call it The PRACTICE of Medicine....... They keep practicing, hoping they will figure out how to do it right.
