Hello, all. My "name" is DarkWalker, though you may call me DW if that makes writing easier on you. I am (at the time of writing) 29 years old, and currently living in Colorado. I have claimed Christ since 1990, though I doubt I was a Christian at that point. I came here because I currently lack a church home, and forums have served to be the "something better than nothing" in between church homes for me.

My ministry is to the outliers in American society, which some have labeled as "punks," "goths," and other "outcasts." Aside from perhaps my shoulder-length hair and my earrings, I maintain a normal appearance, but my mentality and experience allow me to travel between the worlds of counterculture society and old-fashioned church-goers. For that reason, I often find myself balancing between the two.

There is more information in my profile, if you would like, but as I have said there: if there is anything else you wish to know, you need only ask.

Welcome to CFnet, DarkWalker ....I hope you enjoy your time in fellowship with us :wave2

Sounds like you lead an interesting life with a special ministry!

Be blessed!

Thank you, AirDancer. I am enjoying myself so far, like finding a cave full of fresh mountain air in the midst of a smoggy city. It's very comfortable here, so far. I do like to think I lead an interesting life, and God has blessed me with a very special ministry, indeed. It is rarely easy or fun, but it is worth every moment of discomfort to see the light begin to shine in the eyes of the lost. Be blessed as well.

Welcome.So you are undercover?

Welcome.So you are undercover?

Thank you for your welcome. I'm not certain what you mean by "undercover," though I suppose one could look at my ministry that way. I probably would not "stand out from the crowd" in terms of my appearance or behavior among the people I interact with, so I'm not distinguishable as a Christian just by looking at me. However, I do often strike up conversations with people about my faith, regardless of the setting. I once complimented a man on his eyebrow piercing; within ten minutes we were discussing his atheism, my faith, and our common experiences with abuse. It is that kind of circumstance that I encounter consistently.

"Goths" are outcasts in America? Wow I didn't know that. It's quite a popular subculture here, there are many Christian Goths.

Hi Brother DW, it's a pleasure to welcome you among us. May God bless your time here in Jesus' name. :wave2

Thank you very much.

They are more accepted in certain parts of the country than in others, from what I have seen. There are many Christian goths here as well, but the average crowd will associate them with Marilyn Manson, who was blamed for "influencing" one of our worst acts of violence here (the Columbine High School massacre of 1999). Consequently, in Colorado, people tend to either ignore goths, or give them a wide berth.

Hey Dark, I look forward to learning more from you and what you see in your walk.
Thank you, Blazin Bones. One of my favorite passages of Scripture is Ezekiel 37, the Valley of Dry Bones. I often advertise it as "the first zombie uprising in history" when I use zombies as a spiritual analogy. I look forward to interacting with you here on the forum as well.

Thank you very much.

I'm really ignorant. I have never heard of a Christian Goth. I live in an area however that believes my husband is an infidel because he has a beard. I could be a little behind the times.

What is a "goth"?
A person who appreciates a darker aesthetic. They also tend to appreciate the "darker" side of life, seeing it as melancholy. There are as many different definitions of "goth" as there are goths. Generally, they have one thing in common: black clothing, white and black makeup.

Ok, so now I'm really confused. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. He who follow Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." John 8:12 If you believe in Jesus who was the light, how do you have any fellowship with darkness? When light comes into a room darkness must flee. They never have fellowship.

The darkness Jesus was referring to was evil, not simply things like night, or the color black, or dark makeup. I have seen more "normal" Southern Baptists fellowship with darkness than I have seen goths fellowship with the darkness. Christian goths appreciate night time, dark makeup, and dark clothes, but they do not appreciate evil.

Thanks for the explanation. I know all about the Baptists. My husband is an ex-Baptist pastor. Emphasis on the ex if you know what I mean.
