While I consider LDS outside of the faith I am not so sure "was just a good man" is their official doctrine.
I went to their church services for a while and studied their doctrine. They believe that the men are all descendants of the Levitical priesthood, and many adopt names of Israeli descendants. They do not believe Christ is God of the OT before His incarnation, just that He was a perfect man. They believe God is married and their is a goddess wife. They do not believe in the virgin birth. They believe God was a man once and is in heaven with a mortal body.

The preexistence of Jesus is well documented He was neither in the class of angels,(Hebrews-about the Son), nor was He a man. (The result of a male-female union of any kind)

"If " the Father has a beginning it couldn't be by any other being.

You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.

Yes, I agree. I was telling you what they believe.

I was listening to a group of LDS witness to me, then they said, "all Jesus was, was a good man", Without even thinking, The Holy Spirit in me, instantly made me stand up and rebuke them. I had no control over it, I was just a vessel. They said I had Satan in me, and left.
.

Lol, I experienced something similar, as a young man. JW's were doing their door to door thing. I'm usually hospitable to such endeavors but not a doormat, and wind up witnessing to them more than the other way around. This time I started praying in tongues, out loud. I basically never do that unless I'm alone. Like your experience, it came on so suddenly I felt I couldn't have changed anything. It sure got rid of them in a hurry, you should have seen the look on their faces! Lol. They never came back, either.

This was before I knew that they teach tongues are of the devil. They flee from what they perceive to be a devil?!? What does that say about their faith? And where do we see that to be a Scriptural response? The Spirit has never led me to do any such thing. I read that one shall chase 1,000, and two shall chase 10,000. Now THAT (loosely) aligns with my experience, praise God

Crazy! Who we hold Jesus to be is THE central defining element of Christianity, as well as what defines a cult. I think there is no room for compromise on the basic revelation, (fully God, fully human) while we still love those outside the Faith. (That can sometimes get tricky on a forum like this)

You went to LDS, as an observer or a follower?

Very cool! I didn't know they'd let you do that.

Back to Trinity: I can't post the link, but there's a humorous and informative YouTube video that covers the basics reasonably well in less than 4 minutes, if anyone truly struggles with this. Look up the title "St Patrick's Bad Analogies" its by Lutheran Satire
