How do you hear from God?
Does God communicate with people? Yes, God does communicate with people. How does God communicate with a person is the essential issue.
The trouble with God communicating with people is not on God’s end, the individual person is the problem. Mankind is a sin corrupted and carnal minded creature. Sin corrupts our trust and reliance on God. It makes us self-reliant, selfish and self-centered. We interpret everything through the means of how it can serve us or bring us pleasure. The carnal mind keeps us fixated on earthly things and answers. A person has to trust in something, and the carnal man can only trust in the things of the flesh. Why? We digest and analyze all information through our senses and learned logic. Nothing is to be trusted if it cannot be understood or the process is not fully revealed. All this reveals a lack of trust; and, God will not feed our lack of trust. If God was to deal with a person in a carnal fashion, then the person would never be compelled to aspire to a greater spiritual maturity. God is not mankind’s servant; He is our Divine Parent that knows what best for His people. He would never leave a person without the need to trust Him.
God speaks the language of spirit in both manner and meaning. What He says is done in a spiritual fashion to address spiritual issues. What He is trying to convey describes actual spiritual things that cannot be understood by the mind of a person without God’s aid. Hence the root of the problem on a person’s end is the inability to comprehend spiritual things. It would be like a parent holding an intelligent conversation with an infant. The child can hear and see the parent; but is not mature enough to comprehend what the parent is saying. Comprehension has to develop in order for the child to communicate and converse with the parent. Spiritual comprehension comes by trust, not understanding as it increases as the person makes greater application of what God has already given them to do by trust.
God communicates with people by five means depending on a person’s spiritual aptitude and maturity to receive, comprehend, and obey His spiritual instructions. First would be communication by presence. God teaches us by His presence in certain environments where the saint receives instruction from others like in a church setting or prayer group. This is received by what the person sees, hears, and experiences in a Spirit filled environment. They have the greatest gap between what their knowledge and application.
Secondly, we have inspiration. This is when God speaks in that still quiet voice in our inner man. He only says a few words, gives you song to sing, vision, dream, or sends a prophet to convey a spiritual message. This is that voice that people equate to being led by the Holy Spirit. It is God communicating with a person in a unilateral fashion, not by a conversation. We are given the options to trust or not to trust those few words. This person is beginning to make application of what they trust as God adds comprehension to their spiritual mind.
Thirdly, we have revelation. This is when God speaks to be believer through inspiration but also adds the ability to comprehend the message. This person is spiritually minded and mature enough to hold a limited conversation with God. This person has overcome great obstacles of fear and lack of trust through the death of their carnality. This person has begun to walk and talk with God in communion of intimate trust and reliance on spiritual things. This person walks in what they the spiritual comprehend to a great degree.
Now, we have divine command. This is when the person has reached the level of Moses and the Apostles. This is the person that can hold bilateral conversions with God. They have almost no trust in the things of the carnality, for they have become wholly dependent on the things of the Spirit. This is person’s spiritual comprehension is foreign to common folks. They talk in reference to things that cannot be investigated or scrutinized by mankind. Only God can reveal and add understanding to His mysteries.
Lastly, we have as a Son. That is all I will say on that subject.
I will not go any further in this post, since I am yet learning through inspiration and revelation. My level of trust in carnal knowledge has yet to be broken as to receive the mysteries of God.
