Seriously?

"Anyone know what modesty means.........?"

1 Timothy 2:9

New King James Version (NKJV)

9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing.

I think earrings fall into that category....

Praise be to GOD the heavenly father and his son lord JESUS CHRIST forever>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hi there. Modesty is good, yes.

We may recall though that the Lord Himself is recorded as giving earrings to Zion in Ezekiel 16. Isaak's servant gave an ear- or nose-ring to Rebekah.

Blessings.

(And I guess whether you try to put the earring in will depend on whether s/he hopes s/he will see you wearing it...)

Not really.... It was a gift. I've worn it before, but it really wouldn't be a true gift if they gave it to me with expectations and conditions attached to it, would it?

Oh wow, Pizzaguy, haven't seen you in awhile, good to see you.

So @Lexy, is not going to get back to this, classes started again and she's busy. So this is what I wanted her to post about.

A young man who grew up here and was in high school with Lexy has proved that if you "bring up a child in the way that he should go, he will not depart from it". At least in this case not forever. I will call him, B.

B, was raised a Christian by his mom mostly. After high school he got into a lot of stuff that he shouldn't have and many were worried about him. He continued partying, etc. for several yrs. The last time Lexy saw him he had huge quarter size plugs in his ears, he was sure not the kid we all knew. They have been facebooking for three or four yrs. Because of his messaging over the last year she suspected he had renewed his relationship with the Lord but she did ask. About 2 wks. ago she saw a message from him that he had decided to stay in Kenya because that is where he thought the Lord wanted him to be. He said he had gone there on a mission with a Christian group. He was really excited to hear that Lexy is attending Bible college, too. So we are having a big Praise the Lord time. Don't know if he is still wearing the plugs. LOL

Great account of Lexy's friend; may he be blessed in his soul and in his service for the Lord there in Kenya! Re. the plugs, I think probably in some cases it's best for plugs to be kept discreetly in, else the sagging lobes might be even more conspicuous! :) It's said that a no. 2 gauge is approximately the 'point of no return' where the lobes won't contract again, but it varies from person to person. (I guess none of your family is into gauges?)

Blessings.

Slider's and Deborah13's recent posts prompt me to comment also that personally I don't find the idea of men getting their ear(s) pierced at all objectionable, and in fact for example if a young man in his teens is at all likely to want to get them, it might even in some circumstances be advisable for moms and dads to take him themselves to have it done in a sterile and clean environment, in case he 'experiments' with an unsterile needle. (Two cents'.)

Blessings.

You're so funny. You must research this stuff, you probably know more about it than people who have had it done. Oh, wait a minute, or have you pierced your ears?!

B tried to talk Lexy into doing it but NO WAY she said. lol
Deborah13 :

Is B Lexy's husband? Actually a moderate gauging can look quite cool, and if the stages are done slowly, and then the sizes reduced again, the big holes are likely to shrink back again.

(I've not worn my earrings in a while actually...)

Blessings.

Oh my goodness, I didn't know you did. Well whata ya know.

No B is the young man who is in Kenya now.
@Deborah13 :

You sound like you are a bit surprised? why? but I don't wear them now anyway.

Oh okay; I see now, because B has them, too, right?

(This thread was started as a more 'lighthearted' one, but it seems to have taken off, I guess because it's pretty topical with contemporary relevance at the level of customs, though not doctrine.)

Blessings.

She's an adult of course but would it have upset you a bit if she had done it?

YES, frankly I would have thought she had lost her mind. Not a good idea to do something to your body that you cannot undo and is so visible. AND they are just plain ugly!!!!! IMHO :) Lexy is laughing.

Deborah13:

Actually, moderate gauging if its significantly smaller (i.e., higher number) than No 2, is likely to contract again eventually. Most people's holes are initially pierced at 20 or 18 gauge. So there is often scope to go gradually down some of the way if they want to; it's often done 2 at a time.

But people's personal preferences do differ widely, anyway. (I'm not particualy a fan of gauging, especially the big gauging, actually.)

Say hi to Lexy.

Blessings.

Okay, farouk, you got me on this one. LOL! 3 in each = 6. But in my defense, I've let 4 of them close up. :D

Mizzy:

Thanks for your contrib.! What do you mean, though, by 'got me'? Triple pierced in each lobe can be both gently classy and benign. (What did you mean also by 'in my defense'.)

Thanks anyway; this was always meant to be a more lighthearted thread anyway.

Blessings.
