How's your weather today, where you live?

Well, you guys in the former DDR certainly used to have some good cameras... :)

I don't really remember, I was too young then. I remember my parents used to have trouble getting colour films for their camera though. Almost all pics from my childhood are black and white.
A few years ago I had a pretty good camera, but then everything went digital and I couldn't afford a digital camera of the same quality. So I just did occasional cell phone shots.

I've been missing taking fotos a lot lately. So I should try to get the money together and buy a good digital cam.

Surely you are nostalgic for all those black and while photographs of Herr Honecker? portraits of Willi Stoph? and there is the smiling face of Markus Wolf, the frowning face of Herr Mielke, etc... :)

It was a little chilly today, but it wasn't cold enough for a jacket. I was out there in a T-shirt. xD

In the midst of a snowstorm today. Received about 8" new snow so far. Forecast says 7"-11" more expected today with falling temps and a blizzard warning from 11:00AM - midnight as snowfall increases and winds pick up to 35-40mph. Been a long time since we've experienced a true blizzard. Can't see my neighbors now due to the snow falling. What a difference a layer of snow makes to the landscape.

This is looking out of a widown toward the southeast. My neighbor's dairy farm is not visible. What you can see is about 300 yards.

This one is looking toward the west. In the foreground you can see the layer of new snow on the table on our deck. Kind of a nice winter wonderland.

You guys in Minn. often do have it bad with snow...

Nothing like Michigan's upper penninsula, upstate New York, or anyone else along the southern side of the great lakes but we have been known to get a little now and then. What we really have to deal with is the days after a snowstorm. Low pressure systems rotate counter-clockwise, which means northwest winds to follow. That's when your brothers and sisters in Manitoba like to send us a gift sampling of their arctic air. This morning it is -9F with a -23 windchill. If the wind picks up at all, it can get rather brutal. Still not too bad compared to what I grew up with in northeastern MN but bad enough.

Today's high is predicted to reach a balmy 7F with winds picking up a bit. Wind chills are expected to hover in the -26F range all day.

Our driveway is about 200 yards long and then we have about 1/4 mile gravel to get to the nearest county road. Since we are on the end of the snowplow's route, we probably won't see him until tomorrow afternoon. I managed to work my way through 2 foot deep snow drifts to get out of my driveway but the road is more open and the drifts were blown much harder. I eventually got stuck with my truck so I won't be going to work today. I got the tractor plugged in now and will be hooking up the snowblower in about an hour or so. Looks like my day is pretty much planned now.

Truth be told, I'm kind of an odd duck. I actually think winter is kind of fun. A little work sometimes and cold but once I get acclimated I don't mind it that much until later when I begin to look forward to the spring thaw. Now the lakes should freeze over and then it's ice fishing. Woo-hoo!

'Balmy 7F', LOL, I like that!

Ontario: cold and damp.

Hey, we are foggy here too. Plenty to go around if anyone needs some. Seriously, come take some of our fog, this is getting ridiculous.

I'm not very nostalgic for GDR stuff. It was a regime of injustice and tyranny after all.
Those politicians you mentioned appeared to be somewhat ridiculous, but on second sight were all but harmless. So being nostalgic for those times (or wanting them back, like some people here do) seems very foolish.
Well maybe I'm nostalgic for the time of my childhood, in the same way everyone would be nostalgic about theirs. That would include black and white fotos of myself as a kid, my home, my family, my school, vacantion pictures and so on.

Weather: Around freezing point, and it's been snowing all day long.
My heating is failing me.

Foggy.

I will extend the offer again. If anyone wants some fog, we have it in spades.
