I Have the Solution!

Anyone know how much of the tax dollars go to congress?
It's negligible, in comparison to the rest of the budget. Less than 1/10th of one percent. Still, it's a lot of money. Just wouldn't do much for anyone or anything if reallocated.

I don't agree reba. I don't have to fish. I wouldn't mind those fees since the state owns the lagoon and must clean it. yet they don't replenish the river with fish nor patrol it as much.

Spend a billion here, a billion there and pretty soon we're talking about "real money," or so the saying goes. But what is a billion? Most struggle to know more about this number than "it's big". Consider first what a million is. You're born and let's say that's when the clock starts. 86,400 seconds later you're 1 day old. How old are you when 1 million seconds have gone by?

1,000,000 seconds = 11.5740740833 Days old (someone check my math, please)

So you are about 11½ days old when the first million seconds have gone by. Now to get the idea of a billion, how old are you when your clock reaches 1,000,000,000?

Where one (1) Million seconds is about 11½ DAYS, one (1) Billion seconds is 11574.0740741 DAYS, or 31.709 YEARS.
11 days vs 31 years...

Spend a billion here, a billion there and pretty soon we're talking about some "real money".

One does not have to buy a washing machine

We are only mandated to buy healthcare :(

No but well, they call it a sales tax, but not a sales fee.

so when we buy tires and batteries we get taxed? not to mention changing oil? used oil fee, tire recycling fee etc, and yet the government does nothing with that. I know, we get paid for our oil.

I know sick aint it, and yet one can dream that the politicians actually work

Noooo! That would be irrational! :crazy Or maybe I've got that wrong way around again, and I'm irrational. That makes more sense.
Of course it would. But let's not forget, I specialize in the irrational. :D

(You've heard of mixed metaphors? I just mixed disciplnes. Honestly, it wasn't as much fun.)

But if the "average American" today pays over 50% (some say 57% and it's going up) in taxes, how can the Knotical Tax be enough?
Is it because the rich don't pay 10% now?

Sales tax would be based on total retail sales. I posted earlier that that simply isn't enough, not even 15% of the budget.

Where did you come up with that figure.
