Ephesians 4:11 "And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,
4:12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
4:13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
4:14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.
4:15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ," (ESV)

This thread is not to validate the offices and gifts of the Lord Jesus Christ to His Church. There are already threads that focus on that. My primary curiosity is what you all think about these verses, about a coming revival to validate verse 13, "until we all attain to the unity of the faith."

For years now, I have considered these verses by the fact that, to my knowledge, the Church of Jesus Christ has never attained to verse 13. Even in the 1st Century Church, Satan was busy causing Ananias and Sapphira to sin. I simply don't see a unity of the Faith in the Mother Church in Jerusalem.

All the local churches, Ephesus, Galatians, Corinth, and others all had disunity in them. I've always liked and referred to the plea of the Apostle Paul to the Church at Corinth....1 Corinthians 1:10 "I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment."

I believe that verse 10 was what Ephesians 4:13 was speaking about. So what has happened?

Why do you think that the Church of Jesus Christ, with all that power of the Holy Spirit that's evidenced, failed to reach "unity of the faith? Am I not seeing something that you are?

Now the question comes, how in the world could the churches in our Country ever come to this holy calling? Is our Nation and it's Churches so sinful that revival could never happen?

Is there another Nation in the world that is so blessed of the Lord that they are experiencing this unity of the faith? If so, it's probably underground.

O my, I weep for our Nation. Especially now that a new President will take over. O Lord, could he be the one that a Holy Ghost revival comes? Please!!!!!

2Ch_7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Looking at history we see ebbs and flows in all walks of life including Christianity ... Seems to me revival comes when we get knocked to our knees before the All Mighty.. I hope and pray we are on our knees ..

O Reba, if only we could have a strong leader who would have the bravery and courage of Joshua and proclaim a fast and confession of National as well as personal sins and call upon the Name of YHWH to fulfill 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Yes. Revival is fast approaching.

However, Revival usually comes out of time of great upheaval and tragedy, brought on by God's judgement.

God surely knows how to bring a stiff necked and rebellious people to their knees...

If My people, will humble themselves and turn...

Most believers want revival Chopper.. Paul Washer had this to say in 2011..

We have a leader His name and title is Jesus the Christ.. I pray He will raise up a man as in the days of old to to led the world Christians in a Holy Spiritual war .. My friend, Chopper. You are loved!

By "our country", you are talking about the U.S. Unless the Lord does some radical moves in the hearts of a few, we will not have that national leader on his/her knees in a plea for wisdom you desire. I've prayed for that person as well, and I sometime feel like Israel in 2 Samuel 8. The U.S. isn't Israel, so the comparison isn't to be had. In a day and age where the "world" has turned its back on the Author of Life, it is now more than ever the time for those who do believe to be what Jesus prayed for in John 17:20-23.

For those who believe, to be unified in our desire to be Matthew 5:14-16 that He would be glorified is vital. One invisible Church, a unified light visible to the entire world. All for His glory, because He is worthy! I cannot expect the world to see what we have been unwilling to come together to be, and so we must take hold of the prayer Christ had in John 17. I'll stand with you, brother!

Billy Graham was obviously the last evangelist sent by God.

True humility. True gentleness. True heart for the lost.

I remember football stadiums in CA (Oakland) being filled to capacity with people all listening to him intently. Even the field was filled with chairs.

Haven't seen the like since.

His ministry could be called the last great revival. More souls saved than any other preacher can claim.

His son Franklin is a good man with a good ministry but he ain't his father. I got nothing bad to say about him. But his draw isn't the same as his father's was.

Amen, Sister. They had a total defeatist attitude. God doesn't like whiners! We're called to be mature in Christ. Have courage, be of good cheer, to be strong in the Lord... It's a good thing Caleb was with them, to diffuse their defeatist talk.

Unity of faith can't happen until the defeatist talk is quashed...have some faith, Brother's & Sisters!!

My primary curiosity is what you all think about these verses, about a coming revival to validate verse 13, "until we all attain to the unity of the faith."
From what we can observe, this will only happen at the Rapture.

1. Satan
2. False doctrines
3. False practices

We should leave "nation" out of the equation. As to the churches, there will be no revival for the simple reason that even evangelical and fundamentalist churches are falling away from the truth. Why would they repent when they choose what is unscriptural? Those who would expose their sins would be cast out of those churches.

Revival seems fixated on the past. If we are to achieve some destined goal not yet accomplished, then we need to look forward.

O my friend, do you really think we could experience a revival? I sure do hope so.

I thought the NT speaks to a great falling away? The way many societies are going--secularization, social and family disintegration, increasing "affirmation" of things that were thought deviant even 20 years ago--I'd think that more and more of a falling away would be likely, not so much a great revival.

That's in the US, of course. There's growing numbers of Christians in parts of Africa and Protestantism, especially of the Pentecostal variety, is gaining traction in parts of South America. But...as those societies develop and also as the West continues exporting our ideas, beliefs, practices, etc., they too may develop similar problems.

That's what I'm afraid of Malachi. JLB thinks that revival is possible because our times are so tragic and dark. I do know that in time past, when it seemed the darkest spiritually, revival broke out. Malachi, is there anything that you can think of that might bring a revival? Anything?

I agree my friend. What do you suggest that we do? Look forward to what?

Where or where are the Joshua's and Caleb's :shrug

I'm an old buzzard like my good friend Bill Taylor. BUT, the two of us would be the first to arm ourselves with the Sword of the Spirit and limp on to the battle, if there ever is one. :helmet :salute
