Is Eternal Torment Scriptural?

I don't really want to narrow God down. I want to try to understand Him in a better way and the aspect of His love sticks out for me. That said, I will check out that link. I took a quick peek and it looks good.

I will say that I recognize that God has many characteristics and I don't want to diminish the importance of any of those. But my initial thought of God in thinking of His nature is that He's relational. Before the creation God was relating in the Trinitarian God-head in a perfect love and mutual admiration for each of the persons in the Trinity. Of course I'm really just trying to understand something that is infinite from my little finite perspective. ;)
You're a good man PZ :thumbsup

I've heard many say it is a parable, and Noahs Ark for example too but I tend to think it was an actual account mainly because of the details such as the rich man mentioned his 5 brothers, Lazarus mentioned by name and the Ark specific measurements and finishing details .. Parables were more generic as I see it .. But still if you see it as a parable it is no less true imo ..
Look to the epic of Gilgamesh and maybe see what you think of that accounting in history.

If there is no eternal existence being dead to God in hell then that would be the 2nd best news ever told and the absolute best news for those who hate Christians and Jesus .. Why even preach repentance and Jesus or put yourself up for persecution if there is no eternal hell ? God is Holy and Righteous , he is also a God of law and his Word ..
God of the new testament is God of the old testament. Is there reference in the foundation passages that is the old testament that refers to a Hell of sulphur, fire, brimstone, and eternal burning for those who die outside the faith?

What is a new testament, like a new covenant ?

I would say the new testament delivers the message of the new covenant.
What do you think?
I agree and the OT was a different personality of God but the same one God
I kinda think the New Covenant was Jesus coming in the flesh to fulfill what only God in flesh could do and that we could know God and more .. In the old testament it would have been incomplete since the ultimate blood sacrifice had not yet been offered , maybe in mans eyes and less clear and even explains paradise holding folks until proper judgment through the cross , those who had no regard for God vs those who loved the concept of God .. I think those who had faith in Emmanuel/Messiah even before Jesus were saved by faith , they just had to wait on him to be made flesh and his work completed .. Complete and thorough when the Lamb of God was slain as the sacrifice .. Which we all know these things ..

I don't want my worst enemy to go to hell because in my mind according to what I read it is eternal torment .. But I am not judge nor have I seen the suffering to God's chosen who have cried out to God forever that he has loved and watched over get persecuted because of their love for him ..
