Is God finished with Israel?

When Jesus Christ returns at the end of this age, where will the location of His return be and at that moment what will He accomplish for whom?

The Mount of Olives has always been the place where false religions and altars went up. Even today if you go there, there is a Church of All Nations,(One religion for all). We are the body of Christ and we who are the end of the age can be called the "feet" if we look back in time towards Jesus and the Bible tells us He is the HEAD. Everything has been placed under the "feet" (us) So in the end times, when Jesus manifests in His body (Rev 12, John 16) then the "feet" will touch down on this "mountain" , meaning we will split the kingdom of false religion.

Why does God want division in that kingdom?

Mark 3:24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

God is going to split the worldly false church with the truth, which will come through the "feet" of His Body of Christ, during the time of the end, when He comes in His body.
Mount of Olives:
10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.â€
I see way too much involvement and prophecy between God and Israel in the last days to ignore it. I will just keep my eye on the things that are unfolding and be satisfied that it will all be revealed in time.

Yes, Jesus will also come again in person (parousia) but the Mount of Olives is not that . That is an event that points to what Jesus in His body here on earth will do (His body, being the "Body of Christ") After all, the Body of Christ belongs to the Owner of that body, namely :Christ. People separate the two and then that is where confusion steps in.

PROMISE OF THE NEW COVENANT
Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was a husband unto them, saith Jehovah.
33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:
34 and they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah; for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith Jehovah: for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more.

IS ISRAEL A NATION?
36 If these ordinances depart from before me, saith Jehovah, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

HAS ISRAEL CEASED TO EXIST?
37 Thus saith Jehovah: If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, then will I also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith Jehovah.

The new covenant was brought in by Jesus...the law is written on our hearts.
Jer. 31 speaks of Jesus' first coming.
Notice "forgive iniquity" and "remember no more." That is the work of the cross.
The believers are the Israel of God.

That is correct. That is what God teaches us in the book of Romans. In the Old Covenant, Israel is physical and a person was literally born into this covenant through natural birth. In the New Covenant nobody (not even a Jew) can enter by natural birth. Jesus said: You must be born..........again.

Now Israel is spiritual not physical anymore. God has moved Israel into the spirit. Now the seed of Israel are all those who have been circumcised in their HEARTS not their FLESH.

The Old Covenant is over and the New is here. All Jews must submit to the New now.

Exactly. I'd like to add that God doesn't save nations. He saves individuals.

The naysayers here who hate the idea of God choosing Israel to serve in His Salvation Plan through Christ won't answer that mondar. They don't understand why God established Israel forever, nor why He said He made Israel a chosen nation above all other nations on earth. But the day will come when they will understand, when Christ comes and removes their blindness.

Israel is the name for God's Salvation Plan through His Son Jesus Christ. This is why our Lord Jesus and His Apostles continued to speak of Israel concerning future promises even in the New Testament Books.

The assertion that God chose Israel as part of His redemptive plan is one thing, the question as to whether there remain promises on the table for Israel is another.

I believe that God did indeed use the nation of Israel as a key part of His redemptive plan. But I also believe that the Scriptures teach that, as of the cross, the "special role" of the nation of Israel has come to a (successful) end. So I believe that God is indeed "finished with Israel"

I plan to provide the relevant arguments later.

Drew,

The Spirit of faith is now ministered to the worshipers of Jesus as he ministers in the new Jerusalem which is above, the free woman, the mother of us all. Looking unto Jesus, the one who begins our faith and the one who finishes our faith, let us lay aside every weight and every sin which does so easily beset us and run the race with patience. Hebrews 12:1-2, 22-24. Galatians 4:26.

I agree. While the Jews remain apostate they exclude themselves from the blessings of God and they are cursed by their own choice. God has not cast them away, they cast themselves away, or how could Paul say they were cast aways? If God did not cast them away, how then are they cast aways in verse 15, unless they did it themselves by choosing to be antichrist?
Romans 11:1-2a said:
I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. ...15For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
So, if belivers obey by faith that Gospel which was first to the Jews only, then this faith and salvation entitles them to be JOINT HEIRS of "all" the promises and blessings that were to fall only upon the righteous, holy, and Messianic Jews who believe in Jesus.

The people of Israel are still very much a part of His Plan of redemption through Christ Jesus today, and the promise to them are very much in effect on earth today. I've already shown how that will especially be so in His future Kingdom on earth too, in the "Kingdom theology" thread.

Your belief that God is finished with Israel is un-Biblical, going directly against many Scriptures both in the Old and New Testaments. So we could spend from now until eternity with you trying to confirm God is finished with Israel by relying on your own reasoning, and then with me posting direct Scripture that will prove you wrong.

Your first order is to answer mondar's question about the Jeremiah 31 Scripture he posted.

I am especially interested in an interpretation of the words in red in verses 36 and 37. Verse 37... is it not saying that God will never cast off the seed of Israel? Is this not the same Israel that verse 36 calls Israel a nation?

I agree that "forgive iniquity" and "remember no more" is the work of the cross. I agree that we Gentiles are under the New Covenant. Is that really the same question as "Is God finished with Israel?"

Rom 11:1 I say then, Did God cast off his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
Rom 11:2 God did not cast off his people which he foreknew. Or know ye not what the scripture saith of Elijah? how he pleadeth with God against Israel:

More questions....
In Romans 1:11 it implies that God did not cast off his people. Who is he talking about? I notice his extreme answer in the optative mood "God forbid." Paul says he is an "Israelite." Then he goes on to describe what he means by the term "Israelite." He says he is from the "seed of Abraham" and the "tribe of Benjamin."

So then, if we saved Gentiles are "spiritual Israel" should we not be able also to tell everyone what tribe we are from also? Can anyone from Spiritual Israel tell me what tribe they are from? If not, why not? Who is Paul talking about here that will never be "cast off?"

i think he was from that tribe in the flesh and the lord was saving the jews along With the gentile.

Jeremiah 31 speaks of the coming of the Messiah.
He's come and sitting on the throne.
The Israel of God is the only Israel left with a promise.

There is only ONE HOPE for Jew and Gentile.
Ephesians 4:4 said:
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One FOLD of Jew and Gentile.
John 10:16 said:
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
One CHURCH.

One BODY.
Romans 12:5 said:
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
One FAMILY in heaven and earth.
Ephesians 3:14-15 said:
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
One LORD. One FAITH .. One BAPTISM.
Ephesians 4:5 said:
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One INHERITANCE FOR BOTH JEW AND GENTILE.
Acts 26:18 said:
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
All Gentiles who are adopted into the Israel of God under the Throne of Jesus, heir of David, by faith in the adoption process, and who continue in the Apostles' doctrine, are made REAL and legitimate members of the tribe of Judah in the one household of Jesus Messiah.
Ephesians 2:19 said:
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Now, in the Israel of God, these are no longer strangers and aliens from the commonwealth of the true Israel over which the Throne of Jesus rules and reigns ...(apostate Israel is not the commonwealth of Israel Paul speaks of here).
Ephesians 2:12-13 said:
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
There is nothing left for national Israel unless they accept the Messiah, and join the Israel of God.

The Jeremiah 31 Scripture says what? That Jesus would come and sit on the throne? Is that what you said?

Jeremiah 31 declares a whole lot more than just that.

What do these verses say? Can you explain each verse line upon line?

Jer 31:1 At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people.
2 Thus saith the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.
3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, 'Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.'
4 Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.
5 Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.
6 For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, 'Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.'
7 For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, 'O LORD, save Thy people, the remnant of Israel.'
8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.
9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn.
10 Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, "He That scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock."
11 For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, saith the LORD.
15 Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
16 Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
17 And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

If Paul was from that tribe in the flesh, then is he not referring to Israel in the flesh? Is that not the primary meaning of the term "Israel?"

Concerning that the Lord saves Jews and Gentiles, I dont see that as the question. Who is disputing that question? Does this question assume that I must be an Israelite to be saved? And where would a concept like that be found in the scriptures?

Jer 31:1 At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people. Galatians 3:8 - And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
2 'O LORD, save Thy people, the remnant of Israel.' Rom. 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither. Jesus healed the blind and the lame.
9 "He That scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock."
11 For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
12 Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
16 Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded,

I can't post long posts....the board keeps jumping, but I can point out the Lord Jesus came to redeem and was a ransom for sins.
This is my favorite, though. A direct prophecy and a direct fulfillment.
Herod killing the children under two in hopes of killing Jesus...the KING that was born.
Jeremiah 31:15 said:
Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

Matthew 2:18 - In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

then using you reasoning we should make up a tribe and say the we are of the jews. i think that he was showing the gentiles that are saved that lord isnt partial in removing isreal aside and grafting one then in.that if we think are all that and a bag of chips that we earned our salvation by our holiness or birth linageage we are wrong. it was by grace that we are saved.

It is questionable what you mean by this. If you mean that God is finished with the genetic Israelites of faith, I disagree.

Also, is God limited by his promise of a "New Covenant" to genetic Israel? If God gives the promise of the "New Covenant" to Gentiles does that break his word to genetic Israel? Gods grace can superabound beyond his promises to any whom he chooses and it does not break his word. He never promised to give only genetic Israel the New Covenant. I suspect that we agree that God's grace in the New Covenant will super-abound to Gentiles. Where we differ is that you deny it will also go to genetic Israel, and that the OT promises were intended to be to those believing Genetic ISraelites. This OT covenant was not originally given to Gentiles, we were added in when Gods grace super-abounded.

Can anyone show me in the scripture where God is forbidden to give the New Covenant to Gentiles?

Agreed, but again, this text does not redefine Israel, nor does it deny a future for the nation of Israel.

I agree that we become the same fold and flock, with the same shepherd, being added to the same promises. There is no difference between Jew or Gentiles in salvation. But even these verses do not say that Israel is to be redefined in a way that we become a replacement Israel, and Israel does not exist anymore.

I am going to cut a few verses that I consider to be weaker parts of what you are saying....

This is a confusing paragraph. We are adopted as sons of God, but the term "adoption" does not speak of how we are made a part of Israel. When we are made a part of Israel, that is Ephesians 2 when we are made "near." More about that below.

More important, the object of faith is not the "adoption process" but it is in the cross work of Christ. I hope we agree upon the object of faith. Also, where in the scripture are we members of a certain tribe in Israel? I agree we are "in Christ," but this does not mean we are honorary members of the tribe of the messiah's birth. There is no exegetical connection between being "in Christ" and becoming a member of Israel or Judah.

This passage deserves a thread of its own. It is this thread that defines our inclusion in the "commonwealth of Israel." We become "naturalized" citizens of Israel. The fact that we become "naturalized" citizens does not mean we replace Israel, nor does it mean that Israel's national genetic promises no longer exist.

The term "naturalized" alludes to those citizens of the USA that immigrate here and are not native born.

I also want to mention that not "all Israel is Israel." Only the genetic Israelites of faith are native born Israelites. Those genetic Israelites without faith, are not part of the ISrael that God promised the covenants and promises to.
