I'm certainly not going to waste any more time on that diversion. If you read that thread you will see where the figure of 80,000 comes from. It was not from me. Whether it is accurate is unimportant for the illustration I was making. The point was, and still is, that the original figure quoted was grossly misleading.... back off your assessment that there are 80,000 rapes by Christians because it is untrue and inflammatory.
Quoting the Qu'ran accurately and in context is fine by me. How you can say there is no context is beyond comprehension.:crazy Of course there is. Explanation below.....Surely, it is NOT wrong to correctly quote what their Qur'an states...........Unlike the Bible, there is no "context"..
OK, this does seem to be your main point. In fact your words earlier in this thread were, "..that their Qur'an tells them MANY times to kill "infidels" because they are not Muslims" which is a nearly identical statement. Let us deal with that carefully.... I have demonstrated that there are many suras that say to kill the infidels, mean non-Muslims...
I don't know what Qu'ran translation you are using BUT the word 'infidel' does not even appear in any of the searchable Qu'rans that I have looked at on-line. For example:http://www.islamicity.com/quransearch/ Are you sure you are not looking at a spoof one or from some crazy fundamentalist group?
It is of course very easy to use a searchable Qu'ran to seek out the 'hateful' verses that you think exist. Look up 'Christian' and see what you find. Look up 'kill', look up 'infidel' etc. Far from being hostile to Christians and Jews, the Qu'ran makes it clear, over and over again, that Christians and Jews are good. They are not quite so complimentary about Jews as of Christians but about the worst thing you will find is an instruction not to make them allies. There are certainly no instructions to kill them. It is of course permitted to fight in defense but even that is subject to limits.
So, please do a search, find all those instructions to kill, that you think exist, and let us see exactly what you have in mind. If you are simply quoting someone else's mis-quote, I am sure we can establish that between us. If you are quoting out of context, I am sure we can prove that too.
Context: The main thing to bear in mind is that Muhammed did not compile the Qu'ran. It was put together by others much later. They gathered together everything that he had written and that collection of writings became the Qu'ran. OBVIOUSLY when he was waging war on the kuffirs (the pagan Arabs) he would have issued instructions to kill when he thought it was warranted, same as Eisenhower, Johnson, Bush, etc did in times of war. Even then there were clear instructions not to kill if someone was seeking peace. A bloody time in Islamic history of course and I am sure there were plenty of atrocities but do not lose sight of the fact that there were also bloody times in Christian history. I am sure none of us approve of either.
The context that you need to understand is that some of the collected writings of Muhammed were from when he was involved in fighting that war against the kuffirs. Obviously none of those war-time instructions are still applicable any more than the instructions to drop napalm on the Vietnamese - etc. No Muslim is allowed to interpret the Qu'ran other than 'Scholars' who have to study for many years to ensure they understand the 'context' with accuracy.
That rule can obviously not stop some renegade 'Muslims' misusing the Qu'ran for their own evil purposes; same as some renegade 'Christians'. The important thing is to recognize the difference, keep a sense of proportion and not blame all the people of any one religion for the misdeeds of the few.
I look forward to seeing where exactly, "their Qur'an tells them MANY times to kill "infidels" because they are not Muslim".
