ISLAM IN THE WORLD

... back off your assessment that there are 80,000 rapes by Christians because it is untrue and inflammatory.
I'm certainly not going to waste any more time on that diversion. If you read that thread you will see where the figure of 80,000 comes from. It was not from me. Whether it is accurate is unimportant for the illustration I was making. The point was, and still is, that the original figure quoted was grossly misleading.

Surely, it is NOT wrong to correctly quote what their Qur'an states...........Unlike the Bible, there is no "context"..
Quoting the Qu'ran accurately and in context is fine by me. How you can say there is no context is beyond comprehension.:crazy Of course there is. Explanation below.....

... I have demonstrated that there are many suras that say to kill the infidels, mean non-Muslims...
OK, this does seem to be your main point. In fact your words earlier in this thread were, "..that their Qur'an tells them MANY times to kill "infidels" because they are not Muslims" which is a nearly identical statement. Let us deal with that carefully.

I don't know what Qu'ran translation you are using BUT the word 'infidel' does not even appear in any of the searchable Qu'rans that I have looked at on-line. For example:http://www.islamicity.com/quransearch/ Are you sure you are not looking at a spoof one or from some crazy fundamentalist group?

It is of course very easy to use a searchable Qu'ran to seek out the 'hateful' verses that you think exist. Look up 'Christian' and see what you find. Look up 'kill', look up 'infidel' etc. Far from being hostile to Christians and Jews, the Qu'ran makes it clear, over and over again, that Christians and Jews are good. They are not quite so complimentary about Jews as of Christians but about the worst thing you will find is an instruction not to make them allies. There are certainly no instructions to kill them. It is of course permitted to fight in defense but even that is subject to limits.

So, please do a search, find all those instructions to kill, that you think exist, and let us see exactly what you have in mind. If you are simply quoting someone else's mis-quote, I am sure we can establish that between us. If you are quoting out of context, I am sure we can prove that too.

Context: The main thing to bear in mind is that Muhammed did not compile the Qu'ran. It was put together by others much later. They gathered together everything that he had written and that collection of writings became the Qu'ran. OBVIOUSLY when he was waging war on the kuffirs (the pagan Arabs) he would have issued instructions to kill when he thought it was warranted, same as Eisenhower, Johnson, Bush, etc did in times of war. Even then there were clear instructions not to kill if someone was seeking peace. A bloody time in Islamic history of course and I am sure there were plenty of atrocities but do not lose sight of the fact that there were also bloody times in Christian history. I am sure none of us approve of either.

The context that you need to understand is that some of the collected writings of Muhammed were from when he was involved in fighting that war against the kuffirs. Obviously none of those war-time instructions are still applicable any more than the instructions to drop napalm on the Vietnamese - etc. No Muslim is allowed to interpret the Qu'ran other than 'Scholars' who have to study for many years to ensure they understand the 'context' with accuracy.

That rule can obviously not stop some renegade 'Muslims' misusing the Qu'ran for their own evil purposes; same as some renegade 'Christians'. The important thing is to recognize the difference, keep a sense of proportion and not blame all the people of any one religion for the misdeeds of the few.

I look forward to seeing where exactly, "their Qur'an tells them MANY times to kill "infidels" because they are not Muslim".

Here is something new from CBS News, which is not an "islamic-phobic" news organization (actually it is very liberal) , nor can anyone state that the SOURCE of the article, Associated Press is "islamic-phobic".

Police: Afghan militants drag female author out of her home, shoot her dead

KABUL Suspected Taliban militants in Afghanistan on Thursday shot dead an Indian woman whose memoir about marrying an Afghan and life under the Islamist militia was made into a Bollywood movie, officials said.

Now look again, carefully, at what I said in the quote you made.

Who, in Islam, thinks that The Taliban are typical of Islam? Who thinks that they follow the Qu'ran? What countries support The Taliban? What Islamic spokesmen have you ever heard give any praise for The Taliban?

AND - just remember that The Taliban were given modern weapons by the CIA and Jimmy Carter to help them overthrow the elected Afghan government. America very effectively put The Taliban in power in Afghanistan because they did not realize what a bloodthirsty group they were arming. They thought then that The Taliban were a typical peace loving Islamic group. They were dreadfully wrong then and they turned Afghanistan into a haven for all the Muslim terrorists and extremists. Please don't make the same mistake again of thinking that the Taliban are typical of Islam. Al Qaeda, The Taliban and various other militant groups are no more typical of Islam than the Ku Klux Klan are typical of Christians.
When hateful things are done by 'Christians' the response from good Christians...

In order for this to be a credible statement it is necessary that anyone show that there are any retaliatory actions by Christians to these atrocities, or else some deliberately provocative act by Christians against Muslims.
Deliberately or accidentally, you have misrepresented my words. Please edit you post appropriately.

There is no parallel in the Western World for such a litany of abominations done by ANY group and so frequently as is found in the lame stream press. But for a Christian to post these horrid things here, it is the Christian who gets vilified as being "islamic-phobic". That does not compute.
I do feel, and hope, that most Christian countries are more civilized than most Arab countries but that is just my personal prejudice. 'We' went through the sort of religious intolerance that you describe and most of that has, thankfully, become a miserable part of our history. If you want example of modern Christian atrocities, the easiest example is the torture, mutilation and murder of children in various Christian, African countries because the pastors claimed that the children were witches. Not once or twice but over and over again.

Those atrocities are not due to Christianity, they are due to people NOT understanding the true message of Jesus and the appropriate interpretation of The Bible. I hope that we all condemn the atrocities against those poor children.

The same sort of nonsense inevitably exists in some Islamic communities where education standards are poor. Not everyone is educated or wise. Not everyone is good, nor evil, because of their religion.

Like I said, many times, Islam in the world. Lovely peaceful people of the lovely peaceful religion. Yeah. I just wish you didn't feel obligated to give our resident cynic any reason to feel he is causing any of us on this forum to feel we have to give what to him are "legitimate" sources. So what if he doesn't like our sources? If he'd spend more time looking up what I, for one, post instead of nay-saying it as "hate-blogs" or whatever he called it, and less defending Islam, especially since he claims not to be a Muslim, we'd no doubt hear less and less of his insistence on "real" news, as he calls it.

Anyway, I appreciated your post, just wanted to encourage you and any others involved not to give time to his outcries.

The way i understand it those rebels that Assad is killing are the rebels that want to wipe every Christian from the face of the earth and now we are going to support them?
Well, tob, in spite of our posts here, BarenakedIslam's posts, and this one here:

Thank you for pointing that very thing out so very well, By Grace! Bravo!

Thank you for those positive reviews of my post. I was beginning to think that I was left all alone, and I was ready to cry! LOL!

What really amazes me is the fact that those who are not Christians, and are trying to condemn Christians for stating the truth have so much evidence of the nature of this religion, being demonic at its heart But are not able to come up with any Christians doing the horrid things that Muslims do to each other and to those who are "kifir" or non-believing infidels.

....had another pithy remark here but decided to delete it. Reba, I'm trying to behave.

This is also an area where I also have difficulties. There are many incidents of hate and hate-filled actions of these Muslims that it difficult to take a stance whereby we are supposed to "respect the beliefs of other religions" and not get justifiably rankled when we see them murdering others for trivialities.

But what REALLY gets my dander up (and got deleted) is that I have challenged another poster two or three times to either provide proof of the allegation he made about 80,000 rapes in a seven month period in Sweden or else to do the honorable thing and retract the statement. He has yet to do either, and that sort of thing legitimately leads to others having credibility issues with that unnamed poster.

So dear sister, I share your frustrations, but this is neither your house, nor mine; since we are then guests here we have to mind our manners.

Where did you go?

Has the totality of the events that people posted here convinced that "Yes, the Muslims mean it when they are going to kill 'infidels'"?

And you believe that education is the answer to making a Muslim not radical?
Mohamed Moresi
was educated in Egyptian public schools and universities; he was later granted a scholarship from the Egyptian government to prepare for a Ph.D. degree in the United States. Morsi was a Member of Parliament in the People's Assembly of Egypt from 2000 to 2005, and a leading member in the Muslim Brotherhood.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

An engineer and teacher from a poor background

Yassir Arafat

After returning to the University, Arafat studied civil engineering and served as president of the General Union of Palestinian Students (GUPS) from 1952 to 1956. During his first year as president of the union, the University was renamed Cairo University after a coup was carried out by the Free Officers Movement overthrowing King Farouk I. By that time, Arafat had graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and was called to duty to fight with Egyptian forces during the Suez Crisis; however, he never actually fought on the battlefield.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed

After graduating from high school in 1983, Mohammad travelled to the United States and enrolled in Chowan College in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. He later transferred to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in mechanical engineering in 1986.

Mohammad Hasan Khalil al-Hakim

Al-Hakim authored several books and short pamphlets on the topic of jihad. Myth of Delusion, an analysis of the American intelligence community, was released in August 2006. In September of the same year, a short piece entitled Towards A New Strategy in Resisting the Occupier was posted to the defunct jihadist website... This essay, while supporting continued large scale operations against Americans in Iraq and Israelis in Palestine, also encourages "individual jihads" involving only small groups or individuals using constant low-level violence to disrupt "occupying forces." Al-Hakim also stresses the need to consider public opinion in planning operations, discouraging beheadings or operations that can cause large scale casualties to innocent Muslims

Ayman Mohammed Rabie al-Zawahiri

was reportedly a studious youth. Ayman excelled in school, loved poetry, and "hated violent sports" —which he thought were "inhumane." Al-Zawahiri graduated from Cairo University in 1974 with gayyid giddan. Following that he served three years as a surgeon in the Egyptian Army after which he established a clinic near his parents in MaadiIn 1978, he also earned a master's degree in surgery.

Ayman al-Zawahiri has also shown a radical understanding of Islamic theology and Islamic history. He spoke Arabic, English and French.

Just for the fun of it, I add:
Fidel Castro:

Born in Birán, near Mayarí, in the modern-day province of Holguín (then a part of the now-defunct Oriente province), Fidel spent his early years with his wealthy farming family. The son of Ãngel Castro y Argiz, an immigrant from Galicia, Spain, and his cook Lina Ruz González, Castro was educated at Jesuit schools, including the preparatory school Colegio Belén in Havana. In 1945, he went to the University of Havana to study law, from where he graduated in 1950.
Castro practiced law in a small partnership between 1950 and 1952.

Ted Kaczynski

was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. While growing up in Chicago he was a child prodigy, excelling academically from an early age. Kaczynski was accepted into Harvard University at the age of 16, where he earned an undergraduate degree. He subsequently earned a PhD in mathematics from the University of Michigan. He became an assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley in 1967 at age 25, but resigned two years later.

Geniuses all, all well educated and terrorists all.

Does this "rogue's galley" of terrorists change your mind about what education does to a terrorist?

Woo Hoo...great research, sister. I was amazed as I read your post how many of these "poor, uneducated" Muslims were actually well educated and many in AMERICA, btw!

I'm sorry I shortened up your post a bit but didn't want to blow up CF's data base, ha ha.

8 Year-Old Yemeni Child Bride Dies of Internal Injuries

As disgusting as the tradition of marrying off children to much older men is, it is common practice in Yemen. More than a quarter of the female population are married before the age of 15.

Got an interesting e-mail from FFA, here is a short excerpt, the remainder of the article can be found at: http://floridafamily.org/full_article.php?article_no=267

"The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) is intensifying their name calling campaign with the brochure posted below. CAIR.org lists Florida Family Association as the top Islamophobe followed by David Yerushalmi and Pamela Geller. CAIR's new name calling brochure will include many more American patriots. A photo of Florida Family Association’s president, David Caton, is shown in the bottom row of the brochure cover....

It is uncertain what CAIR’s report will specifically say.

However, it is certain that CAIR’s brochure will intimidate some if not many Americans to avoid publicly criticizing Islamists out of fear of being labeled and called out in this manner.

CAIR’s Islamophobia campaign is unmistakably intended to put a chill on the First Amendment Rights of true American patriots who are very concerned about Islamization in America.

Terror at Nairobi Mall Leaves at Least 30 Dead

"A casual Saturday morning at the mall turned into a siege of terror for unsuspecting shoppers in Nairobi, Kenya. ...Initially it was believed the gang were armed robbers but it soon became clear the attackers were targeting non-Muslims. "The gunmen told Muslims to stand up and leave. They were safe, and non-Muslims would be targeted," said witness Elijah Kamau who was shopping in the mall...."

NOTE
Below is a picture of wounded and bloodied women and children. Please read no further if that picture offends. HOWEVER, this is a true picture of what that "peaceful religion" teaches, and to be truly offended by this picture requires that the viewer have no illusions about the pernicious teachings in their Qur'an, which inspire such atrocities.

It is not the Mormons nor the Mennonites, nor the Methodists who attack churches (or mosques, for that matter) anywhere in the world, but it is CONSISTENTLY MUSLIMS WHO ATTACK CHRISTIANS. Only the most obtuse and obdurate refuse to see the truth, and make apologetics for evil acts.

Suicide Attack at Christian Church in Pakistan Kills Dozens

Published: September 22, 2013 SOURCE
PESHAWAR, Pakistan — A suicide attack on a historic Christian church in northwestern Pakistan killed at least 75 people on Sunday in one of the deadliest attacks on the Christian minority in Pakistan for years.

The attack occurred as worshipers left the All Saints Church in the old quarter of the regional capital, Peshawar, following a service on Sunday morning. Up to 600 worshipers had attended the service and were leaving for a distribution of free food on the lawn outside, when two explosions ripped through the crowd.

Dozens of people were killed and more than 100 wounded, said Akhtar Ali Shah, the home secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The death toll continued to rise as rescue workers sifted through the damaged church property, said Hamid Ullah, a rescue worker with Al Khidmat Foundation, a rescue service operated by the Jamaat-e-Islami political party.

Ok I agree they are not blowing up Christians, or at least I have not found any reporting on this but still I think the above is repulsive and unknown to Americans or Europeans. It is clearly the untold truth that should be known and therefore I post it here hoping it will cause some changes in their behavior. At least they are not blowing up Christians as they blow up Palestinians.

that is the haredi, a small sect of jews that do that. and that point of that is? if being spit on par with islam then lets call inmates in America who through urine and feces on prison guards terrorists too!

that is the haredi, a small sect of jews that do that. and that point of that is?

A small sect you say-? The fact is this small sect has made the news over a dozen times. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. If you want to defend them then defend them. Behaving like this in Jerusalem is shocking to say the least. What Christian would want to go to this holy city and experience this and above all why has this been kept from the US press? And last but not least small is subjective, or just a cover to explain away what their true feelings towards Christians is.

Anyway I hope you and yours are having a great Sunday

There are millions of Muslim Americans living in harmony with the rest of us. Broad brushing them is wrong just as it is wrong that I broad brushed Israelis for a “small” sect that spits on Christians. Peace is the key and I wish harmony and peace to all regardless of their religion.

How about you?

uhm im jewish christian, its known. I found it out from the messianic jews. im putting it perspective. you claim that its bad. yet I know Christians that have gone to Jerusalem, they have been there more then once. ask @mark . he goes a lot.the haredi aren't like in isreal even by jews. they don't believe in isreali's right to exist and believe that only the messiah should have reformed the nation. they also until recently refused to serve in the idf, vote and work, and in general are the least educated amongst the jews. they are really like a gang per se. or akin to the wbc. I believe that post of yours is a diversion of this thread from the real issue of islam! if you mentioned Christian persecution in isreal and that it was in proper context with it not sanction by the Knesset of the isreali government by the haredi then I wouldn't be posting in this manner.

out of 6% of the population which is jewish and of that its only
Adherents of the Ultra-Orthodoxy do not form an institutionally cohesive or homogeneous group,[3] but are divided into a broad range of various streams and sects. Their communities are primarily found in Israel, North America and Western Europe. Their estimated global population numbers between 1.3-1.5 MILLION and due to a virtual absence of intermarriage and high fertility rate, their numbers are growing rapidly.[4][5][6][7] Their numbers have also been boosted by a significant number of secular Jews adopting a Haredi lifestyle.[8][9][10]
isreal has how many jews?

is home to the largest Haredi population, at approx. 700,000 (out of 6 million Israeli Jews).[68] The number of Haredi Jews in Israel is rising rapidly. In 1992, out of a total of 1,500,000 Orthodox Jews world wide, about 550,000 were Haredi (half of them in Israel).[86] The vast majority of Haredi Jews are Ashkenazi. However, some 20% of the Haredi population are thought to belong to the Sephardic Haredi stream. The Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics forecasts that the Haredi population of Israel will number 1.1 million in 2019. It is also projected that the number of Haredim in 2059 may be equal to the number of non-Haredi Israeli Jews, with a population estimated to number between 2.73 and 5.84 million.[87] Large Israeli Haredi concentrations include Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Modi'in Illit, Beitar Illit, Beit Shemesh, Kiryat Ye'arim, Ashdod, and El'ad. Two Haredi cities, Kasif and Harish are planned.

so its about one in six that might be haredi that may spit in you. but that group is in isreal only that is doing in America we also have them. and take note they live in Jerusalem.rude yes but nothing like the muslims you tried to divert from. spitting is bad and the government of isreal is dealing with that im sure.
