Job 38:19, "Where is THE WAY where light dwelleth?" How come Job didn't say where is THE PLACE where light dwelleth? Because light is always moving. How did Job know something in 1500 B.C. that science didn't find out until Einstein? How can the men who wrote that Amazing Book, with their limited scientific knowledge - BE SO FAR AHEAD OF SCIENCE?
I believe we all know the answer to this question.......

Pale Rider, so far you have been wrong in every single one of your posts. Your knack for twisting words out of context is amazing, and I doubt you came up with these all by yourself. Do yourself a favour, and look up the hebrew meanings, look it up in different bibles, and then post your stuff.

Ok, so Job 38:19 pretty much states (after looking at different translations) "Where is the road to where light (literally: light, figuratively: happiness) dwells?"

Ok? So not so amazing.

Your translation means the exact same thing.....neither say that light has a place....path, road whatever.....Job knew that light moves. The next time you post make a valid point.......
And, yes....still so amazing to me, my friend.....very amazing!!!

Anybody (including ancient greeks) could know that light moves.

All you need is two things:

1. A door
2. Common Sense

In a dark room, open the door and light comes into the room where it was not before.

Or, you can just use #2.

When the sun is up, it is light, when it is down, it is dark.

Therefore, the sun creates the light, which must move from there to here, since it is very far away (I know it is farther than the mountains since it sets and rises behind them.)

Plus, you haven't demonstrated that anyone ever believed that light DOES NOT MOVE. Ancient greeks wrote about light coming from the sun, which means they knew it moved. Who wouldn't?

I guess it has a family too? Where does it move to? Connecticut? Or Vermont? Why does light move? Business reasons? Or just trying new things?

These are all questions which the bible does not answer....

Anyways, onto a more serious answer. Pale Rider, you totally missed my point, so it's not surprising that you didn't see it.

Your assertion:
1)Light moves, and is stated in Job (light moves on a "road")

You are wrong, it states "where is the road TO where light dwells." As in 'how do we get to where light lives?" Light in this passage can be translated literally or figuratively. Figuratively makes more sense, as it also means truth, happiness, the sun, morning, day, good.

The next passage then states "where does darkness reside?", darkness in this passage can also refer to misery, destruction, death, sorry wickedness.

So now, after analyzing these, we can see that the REAL question being asked is "where does Good reside?" and "where does Evil reside?". God is asking Job if he knows these things.

My point is in the word "moves".......
You and I don't agree on what the scripture is intending....evidently, we "infer" :-? from different ends of the spectrum....and that's ok.....it's a matter of your choice and my choice as to what we each believe.....I'll go on to something else.....we've both beat the proverbial horse to dog food.....

Proverbs 6:6-8, "Go to the ant. . . gathereth her food in the harvest." Life's Nature Library "The Insects" (p.163) commenting on Proverbs 6 reads, "One of the entomological puzzles of the last century concerned this observation by Solomon. There was no evidence that ants actually harvested grain. In 1871, however, a British naturalist showed that Solomon had been right after all. . ." How did Solomon know that in 1000 B.C.? How did Solomon CLEARLY, detail a scientific FACT, that was IMPOSSIBLE for him to know in 1000 B.C.?

The word "moves" isn't there, pale rider. It's not an inference, it's what the passage states.

NIV: Job 38:19 (New International Version)

19 "What is the way to the abode of light?

And where does darkness reside?

19"Where is the way to the dwelling of light?

NLT:
19"Where does the light come from, and where does the darkness go?

NKJV:
19"Where is the way to the dwelling of light?
And darkness, where is its place,

From H7114; severed, that is, harvest (as reaped), the crop, the time, the reaper, or figuratively; also a limb (of a tree, or simply foliage): - bough, branch, harvest (man).

It says nothing about grain, you can harvest anything, it's talking about crops. If you cultivate things in a group, it is considered a crop.

Job 38:19, "Where does the light come from, and where does the darkness go?"

"come" and "go" are action words that indicate movement.....any way you look at it....Job knew...because God told him. Very simply, I believe to the very depths of my soul that SomeOne divine and all-knowing wrote or inspired the writing of that awesome Book.....nothing can change that.

You're helping me prove my point.......the "thinkers" in that time hadn't yet pondered the concept that an ant was capable of a harvest....but maybe they were just too busy with trying to figure out what was holding up the earth or thinking up names for the god of the minute.....

Ecclesiastes 1:6, "The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again ACCORDING TO HIS CIRCUITS." How did the writer of Ecclesiastes know the wind traveled within circuits? How did he know something that the aerologists and meteorologists are just now discovering? THINK ABOUT IT! How can these men, with their limited knowledge thousands of years ago, be so far ahead of science?

Proverbs 17:22, "A merry heart doeth good like a MEDICINE." An article in The Birmingham News, titled Laughter: Prescription for Health, said, the LATEST medical evidence reveals that, "At some point during laughter, your body issues A PRESCRIPTION from the pharmacy in your brain." How did the writer of Proverbs know that - 3000 YEARS AHEAD OF MEDICAL SCIENCE?

Asimov, you've been blinded and don't even know it.....I enjoy discussing with you, nevertheless......

Ah, pale rider, once again you choose the translations that fit your own idea, and ignore the rest. That's not the point, it's common sense that light comes from things that emit light, such as the sun, or what was believed to be the moon until recently (as stated in the bible as well). Light can also come from fire, or flashlights. Light comes from light emitters. It's not very difficult as thinkerman stated earlier to see that light comes from things.

That is, if you want to look at it literally.

And that's the point, you BELIEVE these things are true, because you have no proof. You offer this proof, and it's not exactly compelling evidence. So you resort to the default "I just believe it, and there's nothing you can say". Well, pale rider, I'm not trying to convince you that God doesn't exist, you don't know my beliefs, I have not stated them to you. I'm arguing against what you are saying, that these statements in the bible are somehow impossible to know.

You're helping me prove my point.......the "thinkers" in that time hadn't yet pondered the concept that an ant was capable of a harvest....but maybe they were just too busy with trying to figure out what was holding up the earth or thinking up names for the god of the minute.....

Two things: A)You suddenly changed your point from ants getting grain to ants harvesting things. B) harvesting just means to gather. It's not surprise if you look at processions of ants gathering food, that you can infer that they harvest.

And, once again, pale rider, you ignore what cubedbee was saying, the greeks discarded the ideas of animals or gods holding up the earth, so your point is irrelevant.

Secondly, how exactly can you know what the "thinkers" of the day thought about ants, could you possibly provide some reference as to what the thinkers ideas on ants were please?

Ecclesiastes 1:6, "The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again ACCORDING TO HIS CIRCUITS." Hahaha...anyone with a weathervane knows this.

Hmm...when you laugh, you feel good. When you are sad, you feel bad. Wow...that's amazing, pale rider.

Asimov, you've been blinded and don't even know it.....I enjoy discussing with you, nevertheless......

Enough with the ad homs, pale rider. So far you can't even convince the Christians (cubedbee) that you are right, so it doesn't look like you're in very good standing.

Hello brother,

I notice that sarcasm is always directed against the bible but not towards what the latest medical evidence shows about laughter.

The bible had the truth 3,000 years ahead of the LATEST medical evidence.

I guess if a person wanted to they could say something as equally sarcastic about the "LATEST MEDICAL EVIDENCE".

but I know you and I are not on that level.

By the way, I appreciate the effort and work you are doing on this forum and you are in "good standing with me".

God bless,

Robert

Here is a tract that may be of value to the lost and edify and strengthen the saved.

It is titled "Facing the Facts" it is short sweet and to the point...

Thanks, Robert......I just kinda got tired of "holding the horse's head under water hoping he would drink".....
I've come to realize that some of these unbelievers are blind out of choice.....and just won't ever see THE TRUTH.....even when someone beats them over the head with it.
You know, Robert....I wonder if their first grade teachers had to prove that the ABC's are actually concrete evidence of the basis of reading and writing? Or maybe she had to break it down analytically.....

"Mrs., Brown, Mrs Brown, I need proof that d was meant to come after c....can you cite a source with 43 known referenced authors as proof...also i will need all of their nearest relatives not living with them....or i won't believe!!!....oh, an here is a note from my mommy that says i don't have to drink my chocolate milk if i don't want to...i'm lactose intolerant....."

Ah yes, what a wonderful tactic, pale rider. Backpedal in order to avoid conceding defeat that you can't even back up your claims. Not even cubedbee accepts your arguments, and he's a christian, so don't pull the "they are non-believers" card.

There's no tactic.....I could rant and rave and cite 10-15 pieces of evidence from scientists that prove that the Bible is scientifically correct. Heck, I could cite a million and it wouldn't change your mind one single bit....because you suffer from a sickness called blindness. You've been blinded by the liar of liars....he's using and abusing you....and when he's done with you, he'll throw you aside and move on to some other poor schmuck who thinks his forked tongue and "over-educated", free-thinking mind is way too important to be "wasted" on things that cannot be touched or a God that cannot be seen.

Here's a little story for you:
It was a fine day for kite flying, brisk air and large billowy clouds blowing across the sky. Jimmy's kite went way up in the sky and was entirely hidden by clouds. A man walks up and asks, "what are you doing, little boy?"
"I'm flying a kite," Jimmy replied.
"Flying a kite?!?- How do you know, you can't see the kite!" the man said.
"No", said the 5-year old, "I can't see it, but every little while, I feel a tug so that I know for sure that it's there."

The sad thing is this: Why would someone who just won't ever get it, waste his important time on 123 CHRISTIAN forum? ....feeling a tug, asimov? or just a pitiful existence?

Those who believe in nothing, fall for anything.

Ah and now you're not actually arguing the point, you're making ad homenim attacks. You're not helping yourself pale.

I quit arguing my points early in page three.....like I said, "holding a horse's head under water...." just isn't as much fun as one would expect..... :-?

We are going to stay on the subject of Christianity & Science here.

Because it's all nonsense without any logical proof. How do you know that Islam is not the right religion? Why not convert to Islam? It could be right, so you shouldn't take a chance.

Did you know the concept of a hell was created during the middle ages?
