There's no need to stir up unnecessary controversy. What is the “it”?
that post was an experiment to see who would assume they know what the “it” is!
like they do with the “it” in
John 19:30
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
“It” is not the finished work of Christ as some claim!
the “it” of Jn 19:30 is the Passover sacrifice!
- Luke 22:15
And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passoverwith you before I suffer:
- John 13:1
Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.- 1 Corinthians 5:6-8
Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
- “It is finished” are the words the high priest is to say at the consummation of the Passover sacrifice!

John 19:30
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

True but the sacrifice of Christ is eternal!"It is finished" is the works of Christ for God's purpose of reconciling ourselves back to Him by His free gift of grace through faith that was the finished works of Christ when He gave up the Ghost and God raised Him the third day as He descended up to heaven to sit at the right hand of God who makes intercession for us before the Father.
There is no more sacrifice for sin but a fearful looking for of judgement and fiery indignation.
Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
True but by changing it to the new covenant Passover sacrifice which is eternal! There's no need to stir up unnecessary controversy.
Christ's sacrifice was the sacrifice to end all sacrifice for sin. He finished the entire Mosaic system of sacrifice for sin. All of it, not just the Passover sacrifice.
Hebrews 10:17-18
17...“Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
18And where these have been forgiven, an offering for sin is no longer needed.
Hebrews 10:14
14because by a single offering He has made perfect for all time those who are being sanctified.

So He is till suffering on the cross for us? Does He continue to be crucified forever?True but the sacrifice of Christ is eternal!
What is lacking in the sufferings of Christ?
Jethro,Here.
God's grace through Christ is eternal as now Jesus sits at the right hand of God making intercession for us.True but the sacrifice of Christ is eternal!

The sufferings of the members of his body...US!What is lacking in the sufferings of Christ?
He is the fulfillment of ALL the old covenant sacrifices for sin and reconciliation to God, not just the Passover sacrifice. For example, the Day of Atonement:True but by changing it to the new covenant Passover sacrifice which is eternal!
I believe the above is close to what donadams is considering. The sufferings of the members of his body...US!
