Abraham’s obedience gives evidence of his faith in God by his actions. Justification is an act of Gods mercy.
Faith must have the corresponding action of obedience for it to work, or it is dead like a body without a spirit is dead, and does not function.
When God speaking to us, it produces faith.
That faith becomes activated or alive when we respond by doing what He says.
Dead faith does not save or justify.
Was not Abraham our father
justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? James 2:21
Abraham was justified, which means he was declared righteous, by is work or act of obedience to offer his son on the altar.
No one is justified, declared righteous by disobedience.
No one is saved by disobedience.
No one receives anything from God by disobedience.
“By faith” means someone was obedient.
Unbelief and disobedience are the same Greek word and are used interchangeably.
The woman with the issue of blood, had faith, but it wasn’t until she moved through the crowd to touch the hem of His garment, that she was healed.
Her faith activated the power that was in Christ to be released into her, and she was healed.
20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. Matthew 9:20-22
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Hebrews 11:8
- By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out
In this scripture we see justification and salvation being typified, by New Testament writers, through Abraham’s obedience.
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand,
saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.
Galatians 3:8
Paul calls it the obedience of faith.
But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: Romans 16:26
