Looking for Job

- We are told about Job's feelings!
- About his losses!
- We know he had a special relationship to God!
- And God said there is no one like him on earth!
- During his trial, we know the communication is cut with God!
- But we don'tb know how God used to communicate with him!
- Some say he used to live about the time of Abraham!
- Genesis tells us that God used to speak with Abraham!
- He appeared to him!
- Or he sent him his angels!
- Visions!
- Dreams!
- There were many possibilities!
- What is sure is that he had a special and strong relationship to God!

Job 42:5 kjv
5. I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee

IMHO Job had heard about God, but after God took him through creation lessons he saw God’s work in nature.

- In the book of Job, we are told about a dialogue between Yah.weh and Job!
- But that's all!
- We are not given any detail about the dialogue!
- In Job 38:1, we are told that Yah.weh answered Job out of the whirlwind!
- Anyway, sooner or later, I will have to study the different ways for Yah.weh to communicate with men according to the Bible!

42) Looking for Job

Job 7

My flesh is covered with maggots and clods of

dirt;

My skin is full of scabs and pus.

My days go by more quickly than a weaver’s

shuttle,

And they come to an end without hope.

- Can you believe that: there is no future for Job, he has no hope, everything is dark!

- How is it possible that he finds the energy to fight back and with such an energy?

- Unbelievable!

43) Looking for Job


Job 7

Remember that my life is wind,

That my eye will never again see

happiness

The eye that sees me now will see me no more;

Your eyes will look for me, but I will be

gone.

- Think that Job was used to helping people and now he is only trying to survive!

- He doesn’t have any hope, he is waiting for death!

- When you listen to his words, you see the negative action of the three individuals!

At the time of Job he was the example
For all time the man John the Baptist overshadows Job.

As far as suffering goes.

John was killed.
But
Jesus is the example of ultimate suffefing.

Jesus came in the flesh, as a child.

Hebrews 6:1
1. Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2. Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

4.For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5. And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6. If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

The Old Testament is our foundation. We never forget it.
We have moved on to a new and better covenant in Christ Jesus.

If someone has not moved on then they go round and round the mountain in the wilderness. I did it for 12 years. The new covenant is better.

44) Looking for Job

Job 7

Like a cloud that fades and vanishes,

The one who goes down to the Grave does

not come back up.

He will not return again to his house,

And his place will acknowledge him no

more.

Therefore, I will not restrain my mouth.

I will speak in the anguish of my spirit;

I will complain in my bitter distress!

- Job is waiting for death!

- he has no hope!

- He has nothing to lose!

- The only thing left for him is to speak and defend himself!

- Job is equal to himself, he will fight till the end!

- He wants to wash his honor!

Job 7

Am I the sea or a sea monster,

That you should set a guard over me?

When I say, ‘My couch will comfort me;

My bed will help ease my misery,’

Then you terrify me with dreams

And frighten me with visions,

So that I would choose suffocation,

Yes, death rather than this body of mine.

- The devil never gives up!

- He has sent the three individuals!

- He sends visions to one of the individuals against Job to terrify him at night and it works!

- The devil wants Job to commit suicide!

- He pushes him to his limits!

- Job has enough, he doesn’t want more!

- He wants the three individuals to leave him alone but they keep working against him!

47) Looking for Job

Job 7:

What is mortal man that you should concern

yourself with him

And fix your attention on him?

Why do you inspect him every morning

And test him every moment?

Will you not look away from me

And leave me alone long enough to swallow

my saliva?

If I have sinned, how could I harm you, the Observer of mankind?

- That’s the first time that Job speaks about God!

- He knows that what has happened to him is abnormal!

- He sees a strategy against him!

- Everything is made to destroy him!

- He doesn’t know it is the devil so he thinks it’s God!

- That’s why he can’t understand!

- Moreover we don’t know how the relationship between God and Job works, we only know it is a very strong link!

- We can imagine that something is wrong as if it was cut, as if the link was cut!

- Imagine the relationship between God and Adam, they used to speak directly, how would Adam react if it disappears?

- Imagine all the faithful ones connected with God through visions or dreams and then nothing!

- How would they react?

Job 7:

Why have you made me your target?

Have I become a burden to you?

Why do you not pardon my transgression

- Job can’t imagine that the devil is after him!

- He doesn’t know what is going on!

- He can only think that God is punishing him!

- And he doesn’t know why!

- It is completely crazy and the devil knows it!

Job 7:

“For a fact I know that this is so.

But how can mortal man be in the right in a case with God?

- Job recognizes that we are nothing compared to God, that we know nothing!

- Sometimes when we have to cope with difficult situations, it is difficult to understand what’s going on!

- Maybe if we had more information about the relationship between God and Job, it would be easier to understand why he says what he says!

- As there is a missing link, we can rely on God saying about Job that there is no one like him on earth!

- If it is not a valuable testimony, what do we need!

- It is like a lamp illuminating darkness and opening our minds to the Book of Job!
