Made In The Image Of God

Wow, how about that?! I went right to it, Praise the Lord.

So we're in Genesis 4:26 for this,

26 And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him [n]Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the Lord.../

Now a cursory reading makes it appear to mean men began to pray or whatever, to call on God. Presumably for help. But when we go to the Blue Letter Bible and look up the word "began" it reads like this:
Began. Strongs H2490 ḥālal

The KJV translates Strong's H2490 in the following manner: begin (52x), profane (36x), pollute (23x), defile (9x), break (4x), wounded (3x), eat (2x), slay (2x), first (1x), gather grapes (1x), inheritance (1x), began men (1x), piped (1x), players (1x), prostitute (1x), sorrow (1x), stain (1x), eat as common things (1x).

Outline of Biblical Usage [?]
  1. to profane, defile, pollute, desecrate, begin
    1. (Niphal)
      1. to profane oneself, defile oneself, pollute oneself
        1. ritually
        2. sexually
      2. to be polluted, be defiled
    2. (Piel)
      1. to profane, make common, defile, pollute
      2. to violate the honour of, dishonour
      3. to violate (a covenant)
      4. to treat as common
    3. (Pual) to profane (name of God)
    4. (Hiphil)
      1. to let be profaned
      2. to begin
    5. (Hophal) to be begun
  2. to wound (fatally), bore through, pierce, bore
    1. (Qal) to pierce
    2. (Pual) to be slain
    3. (Poel) to wound, pierce
    4. (Poal) to be wounded
  3. (Piel) to play the flute or pipe

Strong’s Definitions [?](Strong’s Definitions Legend)
חָלַל châlal, khaw-lal'; a primitive root (compare H2470); also denominative (from H2485) properly, to bore, i.e. (by implication) to wound, to dissolve; figuratively, to profane (a person, place or thing), to break (one's word), to begin (as if by an 'opening wedge'); to play (the flute):—begin (× men began), defile, × break, defile, × eat (as common things), × first, × gather the grape thereof, × take inheritance, pipe, player on instruments, pollute, (cast as) profane (self), prostitute, slay (slain), sorrow, stain, wound..../

Taken from: https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h2490/kjv/wlc/0-1/

There, how's that?
I believe the more correct interpretation of Genesis 4:26 would be to use the term 'begin' as opposed to 'profane.' Note that the BDB translates the word 'begin' as: H2490 chlal - 1) to profane, defile, pollute, desecrate, begin.

So, as one can see both definitions 'profane' or 'begin' are possible and context would advise of which to use.
Ed, I think I have every version! JK.

In all my versions, it says BEGAN to worship God.

The KJV has comment that this verse probably means that men called on the name of the Lord in contempt.
I believe that our more recent bibles have more information to go on since there has been so much study since the 1600's and even the language is better understood.

Also, we have persons at the time of Genesis 4 that began to sin and do evil acts...
But this is speaking about Seth (and his son Enos) who took the place of Abel and this would become the line of God...those that worshipped God, so it makes sense that it would mean to call on the name of the Lord in a good way, worshipping Him and seeking help.

Well said, Sister. I get the feeling that not many people believe that we have Godlike qualities, and it's easy to see why. We are a new creature in Christ, forgiven, washed. And that's how God sees us. We tend to see ourselves as unworthy sinners who stumble all over the place wondering if we're unprofitable servants. I myself don't feel like any Paul or David. Who am I?

And yet, I remember a guy who gave testimony on Sid Roth and says he was taken up in the Spirit before the Lord and he was feeling a wee bit uncomfortable and the Lord says do you want to see yourself as I see you? So he said yes, and he appeared as a warrior soldier all done up in shining Gold Armor and it freaked him out and he asked the Lord to make it stop because it was a hard thing to grasp and believe.../

I believe it too. We are more than conquerors in Christ. With the power of life and death in our tongue.
Amen!
We still sin...we still have this flesh.
But we are called children of God and should be happy and joyous about this.
Satan has the victory when we act defeated....
In Christ we are not defeated....HE won the victory for us.

Jesus came here to restore the type of relationship God meant to have with us.
Not so we could continue feeling like sinners...

Gen 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

After Cain killed Abel Seth was born of Adam and Eve. Seth was faithful to God being created in His image (attributes) and beginning with his son Enos, who was the first from then on men began to proclaim/call upon the name of the Lord.

Fun fact: If you think about it we are all from the lineage of Noah, but yet many fell and continue to fall away from God.

Do you believe Abraham's purchase of land in Hebron brought about the name
Hebrews?
And would his son, Isaac be the first Hebrew?
I think this would be correct.

I believe Hebrew came from Eber.

Salah lived thirty years, and begot Eber. After he begot Eber, Salah lived four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters.
Eber lived thirty-four years, and begot Peleg. After he begot Peleg, Eber lived four hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters.
Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Reu. After he begot Reu, Peleg lived two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters.
Reu lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug. After he begot Serug, Reu lived two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters.
Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor. After he begot Nahor, Serug lived two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.
Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah. After he begot Terah, Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters.
Now Terah lived seventy years, and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
Genesis 11:14-26

And God and Enos went a walking, and I guess a talking like Adam and God used to do. Then I guess Enos just went home with God.

The talking in the spirit seems to be our modern counterpart. The conversation with God seems to be the main security. When your conversation starts to be with the other voice things seem to fall apart. Rod and staff conversations are ok. One minute Peter gets a hug and the next minute a backhand swat. That we are conversing let’s us know where the path is.

I can't remember how,,,but I know that the word RIGHTEOUS means something different in the O.T. than it does in the N.T. If anyone is interested, this could be looked up ... I'm sorry I can't do this right now.
@stovebolts might know, he knows a lot about the O.T. and the culture.
From the article:

What does it mean? Tzedek/tzedakah is almost impossible to translate, because of its many shadings of meaning: justice, charity, righteousness, integrity, equity, fairness and innocence. It certainly means more than strictly legal justice, for which the Bible uses words like mishpat and din. One example illustrates the point:

If a man is poor, you may not go to sleep holding his security. Return it to him at sun-down, so that he will be able to sleep in his garment and bless you. To you it will be reckoned as tzedakah before the Lord your God. (Deuteronomy 24: 12-13)
Tzedakah cannot mean legal justice in this verse. It speaks of a situation in which a poor person has only a single cloak or covering, which he has handed over to the lender as security against a loan. The lender has a legal right to keep the cloak until the loan has been repaid. However, acting on the basis of this right is simply not the right thing to do. It ignores the human situation of the poor person, who has nothing else with which to keep warm on a cold night. The point becomes even clearer when we examine the parallel passage in Exodus 22, which states:

If you take your neighbour’s cloak as a pledge, return it to him by sunset, because his cloak is the only covering he has for his body. What else will he sleep in? When he cries out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate. (Exodus 22: 25-26)
The same situation which in Deuteronomy is described as tzedakah, in Exodus is termed compassion or grace (chanun). The late Aryeh Kaplan translated tzedakah in Deut. 24 as “charitable merit.” It is best rendered as “the right and decent thing to do” or “justice tempered by compassion.”

In Judaism, justice - tzedek as opposed to mishpat - must be tempered by compassion.

Creation is not an allegory.

The allegory is comparing the two children of Abraham...

One, Ishmeal, was of the bondwoman, Hagar.
It's taught that he is of the flesh because Abraham and Sarah couldn't wait on God's promise and they went ahead and agreed to have this son by Hagar.
This is the son of the flesh because the "flesh" conceived him...God had no part in it.

The other son, Isaac, was born of the wife of Abraham, Sarah.
This is the son of the Spirit because God had promised a son to Abraham and his wife and Isaac was the result of this promise. God was involved in the promise.

Paul is comparing the Law to Grace. The Old Covenant with the New.

Try Galatians 4:23 again:
22The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife.
23The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise.
24These two women serve as an illustration of God’s two covenants. The first woman, Hagar, represents Mount Sinai where people received the law that enslaved them. 25And now Jerusalem is just like Mount Sinai in Arabia,h because she and her children live in slavery to the law.
26But the other woman, Sarah, represents the heavenly Jerusalem.
Our imagery.
Romans 7:25 kjv
25. I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

We have two covenants at work in us as man, and the promise of who we will be in Christ Jesus at the last trump.

The flesh we crucify daily. We were made to be a vessel of honor. If we admit that Abraham and Sarah had problems with the flesh, then we should see the problems we have with the flesh. The wretched man part grieves us. Abraham and Sarah finally did have the son of promise. We finally become who we shall be at the last trump.

1 Corinthians 4:7 kjv
7. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

I think this is a hard concept for us to understand. Paul had a grasp of his humanity (man),and the promise of the resurrection.

The law in a new heart of flesh with the law of grace in us, and the law of the mind of Christ replacing our carnal mind.

The new heart can confess sin, and the new mind can see who we will be. Sin no longer has dominion over us, but we do sin at times.

Well said.

I think it's difficult to explain Paul's writings.
It can be interpreted different ways at different writings.
This is why it's crucial to understand Jesus mission and Paul's teachings, as best we can.

I like and understand your last sentence the best.
Sin no longer has DOMINION over us,,,but while in the flesh we will still sin at times.
The early Christians discovered this, much to their chagrin.
And so we trust our heart and mind to God Son and I believe we can also recognize how much better we
are right now. I think this could enforce our belief in Him and make us behave as better humans, as Jesus wished.

With the one new man, the gentile inclusion grafts in that wild olive to the root.

Ephesians 2:13 kjv
13. But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

The new covenant joins the once far off to be with the promised. Not replacing but with.

Ephesians 2:15 kjv
15. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, eventhe law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17. And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

1 Peter 2:24
Shows how in his flesh Jesus brought about the spiritual and physical healing.

Hidden in Eden was abiding in the tree of life. Jesus being the tree of life that would ultimately be revealed.

The Isaiah 53 root out of dry ground is the tree of life.

Agreed.
I liked Eph 2:13-17
The NC joins the far off with the promise.
All can join the NC.
Jesus broke down the wall....

The law serves as a mirror. This is how sinful and corrupt humans really are post Adam. Jesus brings death and life. Death to self death to the world…

Alive in Christ here and for eternity. 😀

@Christ empowered for your consideration.

Matthew 13:14 kjv
14. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

This is spoken about those under the law written on stones (tablets of stone and stony hearts).

We have to be careful we do not bring this lack of understanding into the new covenant (where the law is written in our hearts and minds). The new covenant we see through a glass darkly, but we do have some understanding.

I guess I will mention total depravity: living in the Old Testament covenant. Total depravity belongs to the people at the time of Noah, and almost caused the extension of mankind.

Through a glass darkly is New Covenant / New Testament theology. Seeing darkly does have sight.

The religious people of Jesu’s time were blind.

Matthew 13:15 kjv
15. For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

I split the two verses to hopefully show the continued darkness of Jesuses day ( by choice?)

Matthew 13:16 kjv
16. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

These are the disciples hearing. Are they perfect? No. Are they going to receive the Holy Spirit at Pentecost? Yes. Will Pentecost give them a heart of flesh and the mind of Christ? IMHO yes. Will they be further changed at the last trump? Yes.

Tracing total depravity is a little long term project. It did exist at a point in time.

Matthew 13:17 kjv
17. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

Blindness to through a glass darkly. Law of stone to law of heart and mind.

Made in the physical image at creation (hidden man of heart, snake on pole in kidneys, tree of life in cerebellum, and more).

At Pentecost higher level stuff begins.

Lipids in spinal fluid? Can be trace amounts.

I need an expert on spinal fluid. This is not for the physical body, but a symbolism quest.

Symbolism/imagery has levels. I need the physical right now, so I can compare to a scripture or two.

Mississippi redneck

Ok no takers/ response so far on the lipids in spinal fluid.

Why am I asking? There is a symbolism I have brushed up against in the past, that is suddenly growing more complex.

We are made in the image of God.
His creation shows facts about our Mighty God.

I am going to start this on the outside of our human body and let us hopefully see inside ourselves.

The water cycle on earth:
Rain descends from heaven (after the flood of Noah). Water

Provides needed H2O for growth cycle.
If it grows too cold water is stored as Ice.

Inside plants and animals it is part of life itself

As water is collected it forms a place for fish to live.

As it evaporates it forms vapor clouds in our sky heaven.

The cycle repeats.

If we turn cold the spirit of life becomes ice pack dormant(?) may need a better word.
Matthew 24:12 kjv
12. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Got to stay alive. Not even lukewarm.

That is outside us.

What is the pump that moves water? The heat of the sun.

What is the pump that moves water inside us? I want to say (I am so glad you asked).
The spirit Jesus became works in us.

There is a pump that moves our water inside us. Several cycles actually, but for now I want us to see the river of life in us.

eddif

This is the only link (that makes sense to a redneck), of the cycle of spinal fluid down and back up the spinal colum. Sort of similar to the water cycle.
And similar to the blood circulation too.

1 John 5:8 kjv
8. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

This is all in the human body.
Roman’s 1:20

The created human body shows the comparison of our:
Spirit system = CNS (Central Nervous System).
River clear as crystal associated with nerve messages from brain to different parts of body. Angels carry messages from God to man. Nerves carry messages from brain (mind of Christ) to heart (hidden man of heart).

Symbolism. Metaphysics. Parable teaching.
The seed equals the Word of God

Let me check the link by posting.

If the drawing works I will be back.

These links sometimes cease to exist. What I am talking about never exist to some people. The things of God are clearly seen in creation (what God has made)
Romans 1:20

The blood circulatory system supplies nutrients to the cells. Closed system similar to water cycle. Body.

Our spinal fluid Carries nutrients to nerves.
Similar to water cycle. Spirit

Our carnal mind Carrie’s thoughts (nerve impulses) to a finger to instruct it to move, and sight and feelings return feedback That it did move. Living soul. Similar to water cycle.

God in Heaven can communicate to his people:
Through scriptures.
Through prophets
Through creation
Through the leading of the Holy Spirit.

As a Mississippi redneck this is not exactly what others see. I get that. We see through a glass darkly. Dark sunshades lessen our vision.
But we are not totally blind. Glimpses of the eternal are hidden in what God has made.

We are not just carnal, but if we are born again we are spiritual too.

Parables hide things. The disciples asked why parables. Do we ask why a physical world?

eddif

1. I suppose I will tell what I am going to present
2. Present the data
3. Then tell what I told with clarifications.

That all may take a month.

……..

The clouds are our Cerebral Cortex. Like a high mountain shrouded in clouds. A place to commune with God.

The Cerebellum is more earthly and probably our conscious mind. The carnal mind may reside there and be the area where the New Jerusalem is moving in. It has a tree planted on either side of a river. Just do a mid section dissection of the cerebellum, and the nerve networks look like a tree. The spinal fluid is the river.

Hidden at creation is much information about. God.
The heart is where the throne of Jesus is. The natural pacemaker makes the muscles of the heart pump, and looks like a crucified man. The 24 elders (ribs) bow before the throne of the heart. King David knew about the tabernacle. Hide on staves.
Revelation 4 gives us a view into heaven. We hear of a man who did not know if he was in the flesh or out of the flesh (he was both). There is a heaven where God is, and made in his image of our body is symbolism.

As the heart is desperately wicked and deceitful, it takes the full power of the crucified Christ to make it operate correctly.

Scripture comes next.

Ask questions.

Look at ribs casting their crowns before the heart. The breastbone becoming a crown where the cartilage ribbons touch it.

Just creation biology.

Mississippi redneck.

If anyone has any hint as to the tabernacle in the wilderness I am interested.

IMHO it could be the human body lying prone. With Revelation standing it upright.

There are two births two levels of understanding, and at the last trump the complete understanding.

It took from creation to Jesus to tell that seed were a type for the Word if God. That the heart of man is the ground.

The nearer to the end, the more information.
