Merry Christmas!

The spirit of Christmas is one of giving.

Where exactly is the sin in that?

.
its not but the majority of the celebrants are about the idea of if the gift isn't good enough for me and will return it and wait until after Christmas for those deals on things that aren't going to be any better because they were sold during the holiday shopping spree.

Is that sinful?

I don't call Christmas greedmas for nothing. im not against buying gifts but really if Christmas were to be banned? what would be the harm? oh wait the retailers would suffer. Christ is seldom by the world embraced in Christmas as theres the revalry and such like that never had jesus with that.

sure one can make it godly, but lets be real. is it wise to borrow and go into debt to make ones child smile? and work hard and miss church to make up that money? have less money that you can give to the poor?

You're describing the spirit of greed, not the spirit of giving. There's a difference.

I remember last year a really cute photo of some grandpa putting together a play kitchen (?) for a little girl named Jaci. He was sitting on the floor with parts all spread out having a great time putting that together for his little g-daughter. :yes

I know that but the majority of Christians do that. seen it. how many are in credit debt? how many buy gifts for their kids on credit. I was raised not to do Christmas and I know the mocking kids will do personally on those that don't celebrate it. I hate that. the showing off of gifts. I think Nathan went through that as he had ragged shoes. I had to get on to monica about that and she said Nathan as teased about his shoes. I said shoes is one thing, fashion and gifts are another.

I like gifts as much as the next person, but for me getting Christmas gifts have become "I'm getting all this stuff that's just going to take up more space" and that takes a bit of the fun out of it.
Helps to have that attitude when I'm tempted to make impulse buys for myself, though.

monica bought that. and I put that together.im not against Christmas. just that it shouldn't be that I must have to buy gifts on credit to make a kid smile. I said my peace about that to monica later on.three hour agrevation on that. lol. dremmeled the door to get it to close. grr.

she still has that play kitchen. those are old. I remember those when I was a kid and my mom had one as well.

Who cares what other people are doing? Seriously! You're gonna let the irresponsible actions of another individual, even though they're not personally affecting you, dictate how you're gonna celebrate the spirit of giving?

Like I said Jason, there's a difference.

The Lord searches the heart.

sir can you help the poor?
sure. I will HAVE TO borrow to that.
one doesn't need CHRISTMAS TO GIVE . Christmas , nor is the birth of jesus as a holiday is found in the didache. the early church didn't care to do that. they gave as the need arose. the origins of Christmas had little to do with the actual day of the birth and due to the sins of man the rcc even banned if for 50 years.

so how many jobs, debt should I go into that will take the greater time of spending with jaci and Nathan should I go into?i barely remember the gifts of gelt from my grandparents but I do remember the TIMES far greater with them. likewise the few gifts I got from my moms dad(grandma was deceased ten years before I was born) and aunt but I remember the TIMES with them. I remember the calling ritual of the five or ten rings to let us know if we made it home. something my mom and her brother still do.

She'll probably play with it for several yrs. Lexy had one when she was little and now my g-daughter has it. She and her brother play with it. Fisher Price toys used to hold up forever.

Christmas comes with a lot of things: happiness, luxury and extravagant spending, deathts, teenage pregnancies, this and that.

Then by nexy year: reckon reckon reckon! Crying crying crying!! Broke broke broke!!! Abortion abortion abortion!!!! Premature moms premature moms premature moms.

Lets be careful. Just a few are wise on what to do.

I love Christmas gastronomic activities! Great moms've got great kitchens :wink :hysterical

Big holiday dinners just aren't the same when you don't have relatives joining you. My uncle and grandmother used to join us, along with other relatives, but the past few years they were too poor in health, and my uncle died. =/

Christmas is cool. A good holiday to celebrate even if the day is wrong. I always be sure to say Happy birthday Jesus!

And not to pee on anyone's parade, but Halloween is a Satanic holiday and I think that even if one doesn't think it's worshiping the devil or anything like that, that it is paying homage to him and should be forgotten as a holiday and not "celebrated" in any way. I don't dress up or hand out candy or anything like that. I might buy some candy the next day when it's on sale, but not for halloween, because I like candy.

You're absolutely right!!! :thumbsup Too bad most people don't get that.

Christmas in my eyes is not a Christian holiday. There's no edification in purposely killing one of God's creations (tree) and dragging it into the house and throwing sprinkles on it. I personally make no connection between God and Christmas. It was never about God when I was a kid, we just wanted presents.

Christmas is a secular holiday and the only thing that ties it to religion are the idols. I suppose one could call it evil because of that, but then we miss out on the joy of making others happy and teaching our children the value of giving.

To me it's just another day.........w/presents. :sohappy

If that's what you're doing, your celebrating Christmas for all the wrong reasons.
