curse the Jew - be cursed
bless the Jew- be blessed
Salvation is of the Jews and Israel means he will prevail
the Bible is full of references to Israel in her future awakening when all will be required to go up to Jerusalem to worship our Lord

:study Jer 31:37 If one day the sky could be measured and the foundations of the earth explored, only then would he reject the people of Israel because of all they have done. The LORD has spoken.

I'm just making it short, I'm not quoting verses.
Check the whole chapter, to check the whole context.

rom 11:

9And David saith, Let their [National Israel] table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:

So Paul continues to show from scripture OT, that this rejection and blinding of National Israel was foretold . Notice He said let their table be made a stumblingblock, and as predicted, the Lord Jesus Christ to the Jew [ non elect ethnic Jew] was and is a stumblingblock 1 cor 1:

23But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

The word used in both places for stumblingblock is the greek word:

skandalon:

the movable stick or trigger of a trap, a trap stick

a) a trap, snare

b) any impediment placed in the way and causing one to stumble or fall, (a stumbling block, occasion of stumbling) i.e. a rock which is a cause of stumbling

Peter writes that their [ National Israel] disobedience was ordained or appointed ! 1 pet 2:

7Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders [National Israel] disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

8And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

So, all the bad things we read about, the stumbling of National Israel, The blinding, being trapped and ensnared by Jesus Christ, and they rejecting Him, all this was appointed by God.

Now we must keep in mind, that there is Two Israels , we get this from rom 9:6 and it not Israel the elect remnant, that these terrible judgments were against, but National Israel in general that these things were foretold of.

And its for a specific reason aw well will see in this study.

rom 11:

9And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them

Once again, this verse is about God Judging the wicked Nation of Israel. David who was a type of Christ, and what is termed a messianic psalm speaks a curse upon this Nation. BTW, this was the Lord Jesus Christ sentiment as well towards the wicked Nation. The Lord Jesus Christ prayed imprecating prayers against this People.

Neither does the prayer of Christ change anything or is contradictory when He prayed these words lk 23:34

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

This utterance was not for the nation, but for the remnant of the election of grace that partook in ignorance with His death.

There were some Jews who like Paul, did what they did while in ignorance and unbelief. 1 tim 1:

12And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

13Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

And so, there were other Jews of the election of grace, who acted in ignorance , but they will be converted non the less by the grace of God as Paul was.

But for the most part, The Lord Jesus Christ desired their destruction as a Nation, and He brought it to pass with the roman armies later.

vs 10 continues:

10Let their[National Israel] eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

Now, it is no Love of God towards this wicked people, For , The Lord Jesus Christ is praying against their conversion, against the enlightening of their eyes of understanding.

This desire and prayer of the blessed redeemer has been answered and will continue to be answered.

Romans 11:

10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

I am not going to leave vs 10 as of yet, because of what it is saying, and from where it is saying it from, it would behoove us to look at the rest of the context from where this scripture was taken ps 69:

23Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.

24Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

25Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.

26For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.

27Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.

28Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

This is a Messianic psalm and prophecy, and the very Spirit of Christ is in the prophet David offering the very words of Christ [1pet 1:11] speaking His thoughts and prayers as when He was actually going through His ordeal with the Jews.

Lets look at vs 24

Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

For the Lord Jesus Christ is petitioning His Holy Father to pour out His Wrath on this ungodly nation, His Indignation, and His wrathful anger, this is very serious, I cannot perceive no Love of Christ towards this people, not with such vengeful words as these.

vs 25 He prays for that nation [ their habitation ] be left desolate, for Job speaks of the desolation of the wicked Job 15:

34For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.

Now how many times did the Lord call this people hypocrites?

Matt 23:

13But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

14Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

15Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

23Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone

25Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

27Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

28Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

29Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,

And Jesus finally said Matt 23:38

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

See how Job's scripture comes to pass with this wicked nation?

Jesus asked them a rhetorical question ! How could they escape the damnation of hell matt 23:

33Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

And remember just back in vs 15 He called them children of Hell !

If you think this is a beloved people of God, you are sorely deceived.

Lets continue to look at ps 69 as we ponder the prayer of imprecation of Christ through David against the Nation of Israel.

69:

26For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.

This points again to Jesus Christ for was He not the one who was smitten of God ? Isa 53:

4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Was He not wounded ? Isa 53:

5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Again, this is evidence of Christ call out for vengeance on this corrupt people, this seed of the serpent.

27Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.

Far from praying for the forgiveness of this ungodly nation [ except for the election of grace within it] Jesus prays for their guilt to increase; may they treasures up unto themselves wrath against the day of wrath, and the revelation of the righteous Judgment of God.

Now see this next curse, " let them [ The Nation ] not come into thy righteousness ! Don't we see the answer to this request here ? Rom 10:

3For they [National Israel] being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

This prayer of Christ is not wishy washy, to be His desire one day, and not His desire the next. This nation [ except for the election of Grace in it] will always be ignorant of Gods righteousness and Salvation;

And to prove that I am not stretching the Truth, look at the very next verse 28

28Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

This indicates total exclusion from the Lambs book of life. Remember in the revelation this phrase ?

rev 3:

5He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

22:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

The Nation of Israel as a whole has been rejected of God, excluded from the very City of God, the General Assembly and the Church of the Firstborn " WHICH ARE WRITTEN IN HEAVEN" [ see heb 12:22-23]

For the the ethnic Nation of Israel as a whole, the corporate Israel, has no part in the Great Salvation of God through Jesus Christ, but again, there is a election of grace in her who will partake, for their names had been written in the Lambs book of Life from the foundation.

Let us not overlook that this is the inspired prayer, of the Lord Jesus Christ, through His type, the King David, for this gives us to see the very mind and heart of the Lord Jesus Christ towards this God Forsaken nation, and you can be sure that all His prayers against them hath been or will be answered according to His Mind.

The Jews didn't actually kill Christ and Jesus was a Jew.
Is anyone interested in discussing the conflict in the middle east from a moral standpoint?

As we continue to look at rom 11, we are discovering what Paul taught about Israel, for remember, Paul after His conversion and enlightenment, understood it to be Two Israel's, and that is why He wrote rom 9:

6Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

Paul recognizes a Israel of Promise and a National Israel. The National Israel was comprised of both elect and non elect people. But Israel of Promise is comprised only of elect people of both Jew and gentile ethnicity; but for the most part up until Paul's time, most of the Israel of Promise was made up of elect Jews, but this was about to change.

Now verse 11

11I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

God had a wise purpose behind the fall and rejection of National Israel, for it was through this avenue He would Graff in the gentiles with Covenant Israel of Promise [ The election of grace] and they would complete God's chosen Israel of God eph 2:

11Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; [ Elect Covenant Israel of Promise or the election of grace]

That Salvation would come to the gentiles has always been God's foreordained plan and purpose acts 15:

13And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

14Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people [ Israel] for his name .

15And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

16After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

17That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

18Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

For this was a work of God. God's hardening of National Israel was the way He chose to righteously bring in the gentiles, who too were of the seed of Abraham, into the fold of the [ elect covenant Israel, the election of grace] of the ethnic Jews, and they twain would become one Israel or one fold.

The Truth of the matter is that there was a elect covenant Israel in National Israel, and there was a elect Covenant Israel [ Mystery] in the Gentiles [ acts 15:14].

Now you may object, and declare this is not true, but it is True, for you see, Israel is another term for the seed of Abraham, that is, the seed of Abraham is Israel, and Israel is the seed of Abraham.

Isa 41:8

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

Abraham was promised to be the Father of not one, but many Nations gen 17:

5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

This has to be spiritual and not fleshly. For if it was fleshly, then only one nation is Abraham the Father of and not many.

Now, He could not have been a Father without having a offspring or seed, and Just like His offspring according to the flesh is called Israel, so likewise His offspring or seed according to promise [ In all nations, spiritually] are called Israel, for they are Israel after the spirit or by the promise.

They along with the spiritual Israel in National Israel, are the Spiritual seed [ Israel] of Abraham, the Israel of God Gal 3:29 and 6:15-16.

For gentiles who Abraham as a father, has just as much right, even more, to be called Israel, because the father of Israel is Abraham, for the key to being spiritual Israel and the seed of Abraham is being in Christ, Abraham's real seed Gal 3:

16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed [Israel], and heirs according to the promise.

Christ came to be slain, and His purpose was to redeem mankind. The Jews called for His death, but that was all a part of God's plan, and we're all guilty because we all sin. I'd be interested in discussing the conflict in the middle east...from a moral standpoint, I guess. The nation of Israel has my greatest sympathy. I don't believe they're any more "cursed" than any other nation...they're head and shoulders above most.

kisme:

The Jews didn't actually kill Christ

acts 2:

22Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

23Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

glory:

Christ came to be slain, and His purpose was to redeem mankind.

His purpose was to redeem His chosen ones the elect of God, His Many brethren.

In 1 pet 1:

18Forasmuch as ye [elect] know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Peter is writing to the elect of God 1 pet 1:

1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

So this is what is happening in vs 11 as rom 11:

11I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

This was not a causeless, haphazard event, but a preordained plan and purpose coming to past, centered in Gods Eternal Purpose in Christ as per eph 3:11.

Also this plan or purpose, God with it intended on stirring up jealousy, to which, with the blessing of God, and application of the scriptures, there still would be a remnant of the election nof grace, that would be converted to Christ, and added to or grafted into the Israel of God.

Salvation has always been to Israel [ Abraham's seed] but what was not known was that the Israel which Salvation was promised to, was a Spiritual Israel that went beyond the ethnic Nation of Israel, for Abraham's seed went beyond the Nation of Israel [ see gen 17:5] and Abraham had a seed in Christ [ gal 3:16]

This is why in some prophecies, when salvation is mentioned to Israel, its quickly added and to the Gentiles i.e

isa 42:

6I the LORD have called thee [Jesus Christ] in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

This indicates that the gentiles were partakers of the same covenant promises as the people [ Jews of the election of grace]

Isa 49:

6And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

The preserved of Israel is the election of grace, the remnant in National Israel, and the gentiles are the election of grace within the Nations outside of National Israel, all together make up the seed of Abraham through Christ Abraham's seed [ gal 3:16]

lk 2:

31Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

32A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

This mystery was not clearly understood until Paul and thats why Paul preached with understanding, when He declared this in acts 13:

23Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

Paul here was not talking about Israel according to flesh, but of the promise, this Israel hath no ethnicity. Remember Paul was a Minister to the gentiles when He preached this sermon in acts 13, and to show that it did not matter what his audience was, He was asked by the gentiles [ who obviously heard] to speak to them on the next Sabbath, those very same words acts 13:

42And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

Because the Saviour unto Israel vs 23, applied to them as equally, if they were of the election of grace, the spiritual seed of Abraham.

savedbygrace57,

Nothing happens in this world without the knowledge and permission of God the Most High. Therefore, the people of Israel (the Jews) been returned to the land of their inheritance is intended by God for a specific reason and in accordance with His plan.

We should remember that God wanted to make Israel, in ancient times, a "nation of priests." That was done so the Lord could bless the world by their ministering. But, Israel went astray and followed other peoples and wanted to become just like the world, rejecting that blessings and the covenant. However, God has said He would never forsake her, and in the end He would bring her into the fold.

Jesus said that the last would be the first and the first would be last. First the covenant was given to Israel in ancient times (They were the first.). Now, in the last days the covenant has been given to the gentiles, who, if they accept the covenant are adopted into Israel (remember that Jesus said even from those rocks he could make Abraham's children).

Good part of the Israel that has been gathered today, will eventually accept the ancient covenant given by Jehovah when that is preached to them, and thus being the "last" in. But, we need to understand that the final Israel are the righteous. Those are the ones that found, learned, kept the covenants and overcome, both gentile and Jews. Make no mistake, one may belong to Israel by blood, but if he/she doesn't accept and keep the true covenant with Jehovah, in no way he will be part of the final Israel.
The question you need to ask now is, where is the covenant and how can you be part of it, because just saying Jesus, Jesus, I accept, is not sufficient. Every word that comes out of God's mouth will be fulfilled because He is God and doesn't say idle things.

I do not follow the reasoning here. Just because something happens - in this case the return of Jews to Israel - does not mean that its part of God's plan. Are acts of murder, theft, rape part of God's plan when these events happen?

Clearly, the return of the Jews to Israel could be God's intent, but it could also not be His intent.

Although I will not provide the argument here, I believe that, as of the cross, Jews have no special claim to the land of Palestine, at least not a "theologically-grounded" claim.

Yes, The most heinous murder that ever took place upon this planet, was purposed by God, His determinate counsel. Acts 2:

23Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: :yes

You disagree with scripture, no debate needed.

Do you believe that God is perfect? Do you believe God is in control?
If you believe that God is in control, anything that happens, will be turned to work for the fulfillment of His plan.
Furthermore, there are plenty of scriptures that say the Jews would be returned to the land of Israel. The only reason they are still encountering conflict in their way is because they have not turn to the true Messiah yet. The most prominent scriptures about their return is the one in Isaiah that says that the gentiles would "carry them in their shoulder" back to the land. Figuratively, and in many ways, that is what is happening. Israel was only able to stand up until now against all odds (many hostile states that surround her) because the gentiles have supported them, i.e. the people of the United States. Without the US, they would have been wiped out.

I wouldn’t think National Israel was cursed forever.

Quickly, rom 11:11 Paul is correcting any misconception that things have gone wrong; that National Israel's fall was not fatal to God's purpose in saving Israel [ of promise or election headed by the Fathers] but that it was a preordained step in God's Eternal Purpose in Christ, to begin to focus on the gentiles, who would be grafted into Spiritual Covenant Israel [ Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob children of promise] which at that time consisted of ethnic Jew's who had been converted to Jesus Christ. This in effect would provoke to jealousy ethnic Jew's, both elect and non elect; for the non elect, it would confirm them in their hatred of Christ and His messengers [ fitting them for destruction] and for the elect [ vessels of mercy], it would be instrumental in their conversion through the word of truth.
