The only problem in life as a believer you will ever have is not knowing who you are. For those that have an understanding, when we give the mind to something else other than christ in us, it is the forgetter that works better than our rememberer. I'm saying you forget who you are alot easier than you remember who you are.
That is a natural occurrence that happens with the mind.
With the mind a believer who knows who they are can allow the Father to be Father to them. They understand the birthing and can be the son their Father wants, Hebrews 1:5
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
What kind of son does the Father want, sons with His nature living life exactly the way He created them.
As for myself I am still learning how to let God be Father to me, more often than not I tell Him how to be Father to me.
Only by hindsight I learn how to let God be the Father he wants to be to me.
All the Father wants is someone to willingly be a son to Him.
How do son's/daughters do this, it is very simple, be yourself.
The one and only unique expression of the Christ in you.
No problem, you should have no trouble doing this because your expression has been all you have known all your life.
Do you get that, it was you expressing the old man, that came as natural to you as walking.
Now by the grace of God you can walk out the new you, a new life, a new man christ person, that is what a Christian is "a Christ person."
Just like you're old life you will think it is just you.
Remember hearing words like; your are no good, your worthless, your a sinner. These are things people think in their minds but it was not you, you were just a partaker of that old man nature.
The world was there to confirm to you how you did not live up to it's standard's.
This is what religion still preachs today, you were a sinner you will always be a sinner thank God for His help.
Christians sin, but we are dealing with a much deeper subject than just sinning not sinning.
That is for babes, sin is not the issue when talking about allowing God to be Father to you, and you being the son He created to live and express His only Son.
Someone always says "so I can live anyway I want to," that is not love, if you want to do what you know is wrong, you have no love for your Father, no love affair between you and christ in you.
Just because He birthed you does not give you the right to live apart from Him. He birthed you because He wants you, He created you to receive this unconditional love, and for Him to be loved the same way.
God is love, you ever think that He just may want you to love Him, I dont believe He cares so much about all the fan fair of religiosity.
I believe as the scriptures tell us He would like to be loved, He loves why would He not want the same type of love without expectation of anything.
In stead of begging and pleading all the time, let Him know it's ok, it's going to be alright Father I love you.
King David said "even more than my necessary food."
Give it a rest, let the world be the world for a moment, take a deep breath and just breathe waiting before your Father and see what He wants.
That is an odd thought for some, that there may be something God wants, just be still, it will all be there rocking along when you get back in the game.
Our Father can hold the fort down so to say, let your polical views just ease off a moment.
See if the fellowship you so desire is not in the still quietness of just loving your Father.
