Also, who voted that they thought the Amish are a bit strange?
I would like to hear a reason why they think that?

The term "fully Amish" caught my eye. How would you define it?

The Amish in this area are fully up to date on most things. They own and operate several businesses, including restaurants (the home made pies are unbelievable!) , building companies and they use computers. They are very prosperous, and extremely generous with their wealth. They also drive modern cars, however they spend quite a bit of time on three wheel bikes.

Perhaps they are not fully Amish?

The Amish in your area may be New Order or Beachy Amish.
Do you know which type they are?

The ones that were near me in Philly' were of the old order' but there were some that would come down driving trucks selling pies roast beef hot dogs and stuff like that. But most in my home state of Pennsylvania' which has the biggest and oldest Amish are of the old order of Amish.

In that case they are not Amish as Mennonites are more liberal.

Well I know little of the Amish, but I respect their lifestyle and they seem so peaceful and so meek..

Psa 37:11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Psa 22:26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever
.

This reminds me of the Amish people.

It wasn't me. But I am wondering why it would take one so long to commit fully. If you believe it is right, what hinders one from committing, taking the plunge and leaving the world behind?

I had posted these links below after the Amish killings in Lancaster Pennsylvania' great info.

I like to get as much of my food from the Amish, so I trust then in that department. Also they make nice wood furniture. I think the biggest problem is that there is a lot of inbreeding so that can cause a rather small genetic pool and a lot of hereditary conditions. So to some extent they keep the doctors busy. When it comes to religion they seem to be about the same as everyone else in how committed and dedicated they are to God.

I know very little about them. I could never live the way they do, and I don't believe God expects us to live without electricty (though I could be wrong as usual) and other things that make life easier. His command to not be "of the world" only means not to live in sin.

The Amish do suffer from genetic defects due to the fact they all originated from about 300 people.
"Inbreeding" is a bad way to describe it.
