Lord Jesus,

I pray that you teach these brothers and sisters in Christ that knowing the truth is not prideful. To know, believe, and understand the gospel contains no more pride than knowing how to bake a pie. Bless them with assurance, in Jesus name. And also give them the assurance that you have saved the souls of those of us who are less conservative than they. They will know we are Christians by our love.

Amen

Sorry, I forgot to mention I would like to hear why people like/dislike the Amish.

Their lifestyle has always appealed to me - I have met similiar groups to the Amish - simple Christian lifestyles.

But this gal is, as I said, unusual. The main problem I see in conservative and "plain" Mennonite/Amish culture and doctrine is the widespread belief that it is prideful (ie: sin) to have assurance of salvation.

Show me the Bible passage saying that just because you have repented, that you have a front row seat in heaven.
Don't you think it is prideful and arrogant to go around saying that you are "saved" and will be rewarded in heaven when "Judgement Day" hasn't even arrived yet?

Amish,

The great white throne judgment is for non believers. It is at that time that God's judgment will decided the degree of punishment.

The judgement seat of Christ is for believers. This is where believers are rewarded by the Lord for their obedience and faithfulness to Him.

It is the moment of repentance, (when you become born again), that you are no longer a non-believer, and you become a believer.

14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Mark 1:14

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 3:5-8

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3:19

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; 9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 1:3-14

That the Amish in Sarasota Florida are in need of prayer for protection. Their neighborhood was once miles outside of the city. The city has grown around them, and they are in the middle of a very busy area. They mostly walk or ride three wheeler bikes when they are out.

For the second time this year there has been a fatal accident involving the Amish.

I agree.

Sarasota is the holiday destination for the elderly Amish from the North.
Hence the bikes not buggies.
