Pastors with bodyguards

What kind of bodyguards were with CHRIST?

Don't we think the Angels of God whose responsibility is to also protect us may feel 'disarmed' when those guards are all around us? :dunno :shrug :confused

or are spiritual things less effective than physical ones?

Good point Classik, you are always making good points.
We either trust in God or we don't.
I trust in God that he will save me but I don't trust in God that he will protect me.
That's a double standard, very hypocritical, yet typical of Christianity today.

We are not in the 1000 years millennium kingdom yet where there will be peace. Until then God has ordained the military, and law enforcement to use the sword against evil on this earth.

My thoughts exactly. How many Christians when a armed robber is breaking into there home do not call 911?
So were is their faith?
How many single Christian women will not call 911 when they are in danger of an intruder?
How many Christian say they have a right to bear arms to protect themselves?

Why do churches have security guards. Because crazies walk into churches and start blasting away, killing people.
(CNN) -- A gunman attacked worshippers at a Colorado Springs, Colorado, megachurch Sunday afternoon, killing one person and wounding four others before being killed by a security staff member, the city's police chief said. <!--startclickprintexclude--> <!--endclickprintexclude-->
Police would not discuss whether there was any connection between the church shootings and an attack on a missionary training center outside Denver about 12 hours earlier that left two people dead and two wounded.

A widespread police search ended north of Tremonton Sunday afternoon when police arrested a man suspected of shooting his father-in-law while the man was attending church services.

"A couple of the men here in church jumped out of their pews and tackled him along with some others. Another round went off. We do know positively there was 2 rounds shot in the church in there," said Glenn Adler, Wright County Sheriff.
[I guess these men shouldn't have acted as bodyguards for the congregation, they weren't trusting God!]

Dear Deborah, I knew it wouldn't be long before we heard from you on this issue.
You always seem to impress me with the way you tackle difficult issues.
The only thing I see missing from your post is Scripture.
Do you have any to back up these cases you provide us with?

Hi allenwyanne, I really an hesitant to post, believe it or not.
I'm not going to look up specific scriptures but I will say this. As someone pointed out Paul had people who protected him and helped him to escape capture. He did say, just pray that they don't take me.
Peter carried a sword, why would that be? Maybe just to slice bread?

Did God send out His people to kill every man, woman, and child of pagan nations who were a danger to His people?
Yes he did! You know the scriptures that say this.

We are not to judge and decide what God has told churches and Christians about how they need to protect themselves. I personally, because I tend assume that Christians will pray about these types of decisions and that God has given them instructions.
I do not see that it is outside the Word of God to protect His people from the pagans of the world.

What man even a pagan man, would not protect his wife or children from being murdered or worse raped by some evil pagan?
I don't see how protecting my own family is any different than protecting my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Body guards for some folks could be like putting on a jacket to ward off the cold.

When certain people would need a ride home from church... One of us kids would have to go along... For some it is a show we have jerks in all areas of life.

Luk 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

What is the difference if we defend ourselves with a sword, gun ,baseball bat when we defend our words?

Jas_3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

I guess around here its finger tips :)

Pretty hard to argue with if you ask me.

...but give me time, because even though I agree with you I need to be contentious, lol!

Kidding!

I don't want to upset you Deborah, I'll drop this if you want.

allenwynne, there is nothing you could say to upset me when it comes to this issue. I know where I stand. I believe that we have a right of bear arms for our own protection and the protection of others.

I can tell you right now that if I were sitting in a church, even your church, I would do anything I could to protect the pastor and the people from harm. And yes, I'd be praying with every step I took to do that, that Lord would be in it.

Do I hold it against someone who a passive person, no I don't. There is room for all kinds of people in God's family.

Okay, now you've done it.

As they say, you've gone from teaching to meddling, lol! :lol

We are always quick to deal with the physical on our own. How about the spiritual? How many guards have you hired to save you against the forces of darkness? Yet your HEAVENLY FATHER in heaven protects you all against them.

If HE can protect us (even without our consent or our knowing it) against the much stronger forces of darkness I think HE can also protect us from mortal guards.

Someone mentioned, and I paraphrase, that Jesus' time saw less violence compared to our time today...there were more violent people in those days who tried to stop CHRIST, and they were all backed up by the devil and his forces. He needed to stop CHRIST before it was too late (and that time was the most important time for the devil to attack). He failed. Remember the king who lied he wanted to go and worship CHRIST after HE was born? Remember the violence that period and afterwards? Violence.

CHRIST suffered - HIS disciples suffered. They suffered greater spiritual and physical attacks - yet GOD didn't abandon them.

So how many guards have we kept against demons? They know how to attack you better than the people we guard against - yet the sword of the LORD prevails

Having been in a place where bad guys kicked in our door .... My first words O Lord second honey get your gun.

For a short period of time I led a college age group on Wednesday nights at the church. I found out that one of the men was packing heat at all the meetings. It was known to a few other people and it came up in discussion outside of the meeting once. We generally didn't like it, but I bet if anything ever did come up where he needed to use it you'd find me and everyone else hiding right behind him peeking around the sides, thankful that we had him here now.

You know, this could be a new business venture for me. Cans of mace with pictures of Jesus and the disciples on them. And custom leather carrying pouches for your weapon of choice with scripture references all over them. :lol

Looking for investors if anyone is interested.

question for you, grannie. Can your gun guard again forces of darkness? Can your guard stop them. It has always been your prayer thats doing it. ;) Hope you don't run away from the question
