Please tell me what you think

Frankly I am surprised at some of your compromises....A part of me is really surprised and another part of me is not. I hate to say it but after all this time on the forum I really do not know what you believe....I just don't know....

Javier,
Seperate the issues....
My issue is with the lack of patience and in the heat of things, calling ones salvation into issue.

1. If one is weak in the faith, what are we told to do and how are we to do it?
2. Why are we to be a light for the nations?
3. What do you assume that I've compromised? Perhaps you hold a misunderstanding in regard to something insinuated on your part that I have not said.

Peace.
Jeff

Keeping in mind Mt 7:2-6

I post this with as much humilty that I can muster.

Solo,
If you haven’t noticed, I don’t much care for what you think about me. Your not my judge and are in no position to challenge my salvation, let alone anyone else’s. Stop with the slights and confront me head on with your alligations.

You see Solo, you bite and nibble and plant seeds of doubt. Tell us Solo, is it wrong to hope? Is it wrong to want peace? Yes or No solo and leave your but out of it.

This is where my issue lies, not on Islam, but on how we view the creatures that God hath created and loves.

2 Peter 1:2-9 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

You lack virtue Solo and thus, you are forgetful.

Okay, what are the fruits of the Spirit again?

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control." Galatians 5:22

We know Jesus said he did not come to bring peace but a sword. He was talking about the obvious division that would happen to people when they love Him more than mother, father, son, brother, self, etc.

For those of you who are worried that some of our "brothers" are mistaken or in sin, lets listen to Paul, okay?

Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Galatians 6:1

I think some of us have tried, and that is commendable, lets keep it up. Just like Paul says....

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:9

It sounds to me like you are OK with new age theology.
Well, I guess I am not really surprised.

What's New Age theology? I've never really heard of it.

Be careful, this is new age theology. [/quote:029a9]

I always thought of new age theology as trying to promote peace in all religions by accepting them all as truth, or path to truth, etc. So they may say that believing in Muhammad is truth for those people in that culture, and believing in Buddha is truth for other people living in another culture.

Of couse we know that there is only one way to truth and that is Jesus John 14:6.

And that is reasonable to assume.

Truth, by definition, is exclusive.

What Jesus says and is (A) contradicts what, for example, Muhammad says and is (B).

A does not equal B.

Its either/or, you can't follow both.

Simple! That is actually the first law of logic there! Its suprising its abandoned so easily.

I think the trick is to live peaceably with other religions as much as it depends on you like Paul tells us in Romans 12:18, but NOT forfeit your faith in Christ.

Those who cling to worthless idols
forfeit the grace that could be theirs.
Jonah 2:8

So, Newkid00. I see nothing wrong with wanting to live peaceably with Muslims. Just keep your faith in Christ alone, and tell them the good news!! :)

Good post Veritas. I agree.

To add to that...

The urgency of the following, to follow God, is glaringly obvious. Though we are under a new covenant that doesn't mean God changed his mind. The rules may have changed but the message has not. We don't stone people or kill them because of an attempt to prostelitize.
Regardless, the message is quite clear.

Deu 13:1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
Deu 13:2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spoke unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
Deu 13:3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deu 13:4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
Deu 13:5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
Deu 13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
Deu 13:7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
Deu 13:8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
Deu 13:9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
Deu 13:10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Deu 13:11 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.
Deu 13:12 If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying,
Deu 13:13 Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;
Deu 13:14 Then shalt thou inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you;
Deu 13:15 Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
Deu 13:16 And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be a heap forever; it shall not be built again.
Deu 13:17 And there shall cleave naught of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;
Deu 13:18 When thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.

So I take it that you disagree with this previous post of mine.
  • "Christ coming in the flesh is more than Jesus being flesh on this earth. Christ coming in the flesh denotes that God is come in the flesh. Muslims do not believe that Jesus is God. I have a imperative command to reveal false teachings to the body of Christ. You can believe or not believe. So far you have taken the side of the enemy on a number of issues, and I am suspect of your position in Christ Jesus. You have either bought into a lie as the Galatians were so soon removed from the truth, or you have not received the Holy Spirit at your water baptism because of a lack of belief. One or the other is true.

    Muslims are unsaved, and need to be given the gospel of Jesus Christ that HE is the ONLY WAY, THE ONLY TRUTH, AND THE ONLY LIGHT IN LEADING PEOPLE INTO THE ONLY LIFE.

    Peace4all is an atheist unbeliever on his way to hell, and your support of his lifestyle will only allow him to enter the gates of hell with your help.

    NewKid is eating at the wrong side of the plate and devouring lies instead of devouring truth. Your compliance to his eating lies conveys much or your doctrinal stance.

    Are you a born again believer, a temple of the living God, who refuses to listen to instruments while worshipping God, but allows instruments to play while a temple of God? Interesting."

I disagree in the manner and tact that you post. You ask misleading questions, but refuse to answer direct answers unless cornered.

olo said:

I choose to attend a church that chooses not to have instruments as part of our corporate worship. Tell me now 0l0, is it wrong to NOT have musical instruments in a worship service? If so, why is it wrong to NOT have musical instruments? Is NOT having musical instruments in our worship service a sin? Is it a sign that I don't have the holy spirit dwelling in me? Can you show me in the NT scriptures where I am told that I have to attend a church that uses musical instruments in it's corporate worship? BTW, have you EVER heard me condemn ANYONE for using musical instruments in their worship service?
But then, Mr 0l0 says, "but allows instruments to play while a temple of God? Interesting."
And what was your motive behind that comment? Am I now a hyporcrate? You make is sound so black and white as if to build a case against me. I am reminded of a conversation I had one time with Vic about musical instruments and I asked him something to the effect of, "Do you ever stop the music and just sing a capella" and I believe he replied, "Yes, it's for effect" or something along that line (sorry for putting words in your mouth Vic). Well, what if that sensation that occurs could be sustained through a whole corporate worship service? For me Solo, that's what the worship service that I attend each week is like. It's me, God and a body of believers giving ourselves to Christ, as a community of believers united worshipping upward to Christ and outward to each other. Now Solo, what's wrong with that?

But elsewhere 0l0, you pick at my baptism, yet you do not answer the questions that I have asked you. Perhaps your scared solo... I know your tact, you ask questions that lead to these little sand traps that you have conjured up in your mind and refuse to listen to the honest responses that are given you back. I ask you questions with a sincere heart that do not lead to these little sand traps. I don't play that game.

Any time you want to debate one on one, I'm ready. Pick your topic and lets get it over with. Until then, do not challenge me and plant seeds of doubt to those around me in regard to what I do and don't believe. I have offered you more charity and grace than you are aware of. I have held my peace and I have given you many opportunities to engage in civil conversations. But quite frankly, my patience is coming to a head with you and I will not let you slander me or the Church I belong to anymore.

(I'm angry, are you happy now?)

As information, know that I will not answer questions posed in a disrespectful way as in your last post.

Stop being coy and acting innocent. You are provoking me and you know it. As far as my questions, why not start back in the “Is the Church of Christ a cult†thread as I believe you asked me about musical instruments there, and I responded. I had no idea what you were “digging forâ€Â. Now I do. That’s called “Forcing wrath†0l0 and strife should be expected. And what was that comment about my baptism? I have stated what my beliefs are in regard to baptism and have asked you if you held issue, yet you did not reply… until your smart remark in another thread.

So 0l0, why don’t you start by back tracking all your posts and find out the ones I’m talking about. Giving the benefit of the doubt, perhaps your simply not aware of what your doing? What did Christ say? Forgive them father, for they know not what they are doing. Well now then 0l0, now you do, so we won’t have any excuse in the future right? (that was a question)

While you're at it solo, ask yourself if the baptist church is a cult which endorses 'sin all you want' and only lose rewards.

No, I would call that a hidden tomb. Or whitewashed toombs full of dead mens bones. The go to church on sunday raise hell on monday bunch; leading many a man to hell thinking he is eternally secure in his sins.

But I'm sure you guys thank God you aren't like the rest of those filthy sinners and cultist, huh. :roll:

Have you been born again?

If so, what is your testimony for the edification of those who have not yet been born again?

Can a person be saved by being baptized as an infant?

Does water baptism save a person? If so how? Please give scripture references.

Can a person who is born again lose their salvation, or are they sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption?

Have I stated that the Church of Christ was a cult? If so where did I state it?

Your anger is due to your inability to understand the Scriptures that I post, and the stand that I take without wavering as you do. Please grow up. Thanks.

No where have I stated that a born again Christian should go out and sin. I have just shown the readers of this forum what the Scriptures say about those that are born again that sin should know that God's grace abounds moreso than a believers ability to sin. A born again believer can not out sin God's grace. If you have a problem with this truth, that is your problem to take up with God. I do not expect everyone to be at the point of understanding God's truth at the spiritual maturity level that I am at, nor do I believe that my learning has ceased.

Back track your own posts buddy. I aint doing no more of your work. Do it yourself. As far as the rest of your questions, I have stated my position many times, yet you refuse to listen and put words into my mouth.

As far as you remark, I believe in one thread you stated something to the effect,
"Perhaps Oscar3 is right, maybe the church of christ is a cult"

Sublte olo, subtle... your not that cool.
