...no one's going to think you're a druggie or anything like that just because you listen to rock music.
@questdriven :

Well, exactly.

Or think you're a witchdoctor, either
Witchdoctor, eh?............................................... .........

Not a big fan of this type of music, but I used to love the Chipmunks so much. (Mostly the '80s incarnation. The pictures in this video are late 50s.)

questdriven:

Oh well... :)

I was actually just referring to our earlier discussion on the thread about tattoos.

Anyway, I've been listening to Disciple's track: Scars remain. Do you know it? (Can't remember if you've mentioned it.) It's good.

Blessings.

I was just being silly. =P

Anyways, Scars Remain was one of the first Disciple songs I heard, and one of the ones I liked. The lyrics are confusing at first, but once you realize the meaning it's awesome.

Was it really? Is it part of the Handgrenades and Pomegranates album, maybe?

I think it's about the humbling effect that meeting the Lord by faith has on the human ego, but also how when the Lord Jesus bore our sins at the Cross, He identified with us (though Himself sinless).

The hard rock is top quality, too.

Blessings.

Sounds more like their older stuff to me, but maybe.

P.S. The very first song I heard by Disciple:

Kind of reminds me of the words 'sin shall no longer have dominion over you', and of the truth of mortification in Romans 8.

Kind of more soft rock than hard rock, I guess.
Blessings.

Yeah. I like how the voices sound, though.
But of course, the lyrics are what make the song awesome! 8D

questdriven:

Sung melodiously, rather than screamed in hard rock, as is so often the case. (Disciple does screaming, too, of course.)

Blessings.

Whatcha think of Relient K? Christian band, although most of their songs are not really meant to be Christian in nature. They are actually some sort of punk style, though, not hard rock.
Few examples:

xD Just several I could choose from here.
The first one in this post was a song I listened to a lot when going through a spiritual valley a year or two back.

I enjoyed the Disciple one much more.

George Muller:

What really impresses me about Disciple is the quality of the hard rock combined with the often thoroughly Biblical lyrics.

Blessings.
While I certainly enjoy and appreciate bands with more subtle lyrics, and think it even serves a purpose, I love how upfront Disciple is in their lyrics.

questdriven:

Yes, and their clear, Biblical lyrics seem to be made even more emphatic by the hard rock accompaniment, don't they?

Not to mention the controlled and calculated screaming of some of the lyrics.

Blessings.

I think I will check out more of their music? I am looking for some new worship tunes, I am a couple years behind on what is new.

George Muller:

Disciple definitely has spiritually edifying content, without doubt. And can be used evangelistically, too.

I'm not sure that their tracks particularly lend themselves to general congregational singing, though.

Blessings.

Thanks, like I posted before I found Third Day and a few others like 10 Ave. North, a few years ago, but have not really found another group that has been able to fill the spiritual space.

Yes, well I think you'll find that Disciple really does have a lot of Biblical content in some of their tracks.

Blessings.
