Popular teachers you are wary of

while im aware of the slandering of them, but however. being poor and also blessed not to be as poor as I was. and I use poor loosely for me. its not a good thing to have a pastor in a poor community of workers relativately to drive a rolls and have a leerjet, Canadian air c300 or what not. it can be just as bad in the sinners eyes.
Again consider what the word of God says...He makes the rich and the poor.

What do you mean by "We should only consider what the word of God says" and why? In what way are to we to consider it? The whole word of God or just portions of it?
Consider only the whole word of God. And if there are gray areas Jesus will fill those in.

Divisions in the Church

10 I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters,[c] by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. 11 For some members of Chloe’s household have told me about your quarrels, my dear brothers and sisters. 12 Some of you are saying, “I am a follower of Paul.” Others are saying, “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Peter,[d]” or “I follow only Christ.”

13 Has Christ been divided into factions? Was I, Paul, crucified for you? Were any of you baptized in the name of Paul? Of course not! 14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 for now no one can say they were baptized in my name. 16 (Oh yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas, but I don’t remember baptizing anyone else.) 17 For Christ didn’t send me to baptize, but to preach the Good News—and not with clever speech, for fear that the cross of Christ would lose its power.1 Corinthians 1:10-17 NLT

Your response's on this form is the same thing Paul talks about. Wow!
Not necessarily.

Mat 7:15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
Mat 7:16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Mat 7:17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.
Mat 7:18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Mat 7:20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. (ESV)

Mat 24:11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. (ESV)

Mar 13:21 And then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'Look, there he is!' do not believe it.
Mar 13:22 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect.
Mar 13:23 But be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand. (ESV)

2Co 11:12 And what I do I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do.
2Co 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
2Co 11:14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
2Co 11:15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. (ESV)

2Pe 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
2Pe 2:2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed.
2Pe 2:3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. (ESV)

1Jn 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. (ESV)

Clearly there have been and will be false teachers and false prophets. We are to know them by their fruit and by what they teach. That is what I see happening in this thread.

Spiritual Gifts

12 My friends, you asked me about spiritual gifts. 2 I want you to remember that before you became followers of the Lord, you were led in all the wrong ways by idols that cannot even talk. 3 Now I want you to know that if you are led by God’s Spirit, you will say that Jesus is Lord, and you will never curse Jesus.

4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they all come from the same Spirit. 5 There are different ways to serve the same Lord, 6 and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do.

7 The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others. 8 Some of us can speak with wisdom, while others can speak with knowledge, but these gifts come from the same Spirit. 9 To others the Spirit has given great faith or the power to heal the sick 10 or the power to work mighty miracles. Some of us are prophets, and some of us recognize when God’s Spirit is present.[a] Others can speak different kinds of languages, and still others can tell what these languages mean. 11 But it is the Spirit who does all this and decides which gifts to give to each of us.

One Body with Many Parts

12 The body of Christ has many different parts, just as any other body does. 13 Some of us are Jews, and others are Gentiles. Some of us are slaves, and others are free. But God’s Spirit baptized each of us and made us part of the body of Christ. Now we each drink from that same Spirit.[b]

14 Our bodies don’t have just one part. They have many parts. 15 Suppose a foot says, “I’m not a hand, and so I’m not part of the body.” Wouldn’t the foot still belong to the body? 16 Or suppose an ear says, “I’m not an eye, and so I’m not part of the body.” Wouldn’t the ear still belong to the body? 17 If our bodies were only an eye, we couldn’t hear a thing. And if they were only an ear, we couldn’t smell a thing. 18 But God has put all parts of our body together in the way that he decided is best.

19 A body isn’t really a body, unless there is more than one part. 20 It takes many parts to make a single body. 21 That’s why the eyes cannot say they don’t need the hands. That’s also why the head cannot say it doesn’t need the feet. 22 In fact, we cannot get along without the parts of the body that seem to be the weakest. 23 We take special care to dress up some parts of our bodies. We are modest about our personal parts, 24 but we don’t have to be modest about other parts.

God put our bodies together in such a way that even the parts that seem the least important are valuable. 25 He did this to make all parts of the body work together smoothly, with each part caring about the others. 26 If one part of our body hurts, we hurt all over. If one part of our body is honored, the whole body will be happy.

27 Together you are the body of Christ. Each one of you is part of his body. 28 First, God chose some people to be apostles and prophets and teachers for the church. But he also chose some to work miracles or heal the sick or help others or be leaders or speak different kinds of languages. 29 Not everyone is an apostle. Not everyone is a prophet. Not everyone is a teacher. Not everyone can work miracles. 30 Not everyone can heal the sick. Not everyone can speak different kinds of languages. Not everyone can tell what these languages mean. 31 I want you to desire the best gifts.[c] So I will show you a much better way.1 Corinthians 12 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
Merely quoting Scripture doesn't mean you've said anything. What are you trying to say?

Again consider what the word of God says...He makes the rich and the poor.
ok how is that revelant? one can be blessed with wealth but also be judged for what you did with the wealth. see the parables of the rich man and lazarus, the rich man who followed the law and was told give all away and follow the lord.

I personally know a man who never drives an old chevy pick up. new chevy 1500 are over 30k in this year. he is a pastor of big church but not the biggest, the biggest protestant church pastor doesn't drive anything like that. he is humble. both man are saved but the former pastor sends a bad message. he doesn't work but for the church. if he had a business there wouldn't be much said.

The Loveless Church Revelation 2:1-7 NKJV

2 “To the angel of the church of Ephesus write,
‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: 2 “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; 3 and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. 4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. 6 But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”’

The Message to the Church in Philadelphia Revelation 3:7-13 NLT

7 “Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia.
This is the message from the one who is holy and true,
the one who has the key of David.
What he opens, no one can close;
and what he closes, no one can open:[c]

8 “I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me. 9 Look, I will force those who belong to Satan’s synagogue—those liars who say they are Jews but are not—to come and bow down at your feet. They will acknowledge that you are the ones I love.

10 “Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world. 11 I am coming soon.[d] Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown. 12 All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it. And I will write on them the name of my God, and they will be citizens in the city of my God—the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God. And I will also write on them my new name.
13 “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.

Again, you have said nothing. What do think these verses are saying in relevance to this topic?

Def Joel Osteen you want too avoid I believe. I use to listen to Perry Stone weekly on youtube but he never finishes what he's teaching about, he wants to sell you the rest and cuts it off. I grew up with Jack Van Impe but it just seems he repeats himself every week. I listened to John Hagee this morning, he has some interesting things to say but i avoid taking him to seriously. Honestly the guy I like because he speaks the truth regardless of what you And I think of him is Steven Anderson. His 22 hour Revelation video on youtube was very interesting. Hes hardcore but he strictly lives by the Bible so I have to respect that.
I find most of this ridiculous.... but the poor guy DID put a lot of effort into these 22 hours, so I thought I would post the links here for anyone looking for some entertainment.

I have said a lot. God only allows me to talk to you this way because of your motives. He will not allow you to understand certain things until you totally remove the sin of offense towards iLove.

It has absolutely nothing to do with God allowing me to understand certain things and everything to do with you misusing Scripture and thinking of yourself so highly that you don't need to explain anything you say.

again. so I should take from the poor man that tithes what little he has and use it for a truck that I really don't need? its a personal choice but again what does romans 14 say?personal im not offended by his truck , but it does send a message. I have had to defend that decision to sinners, my wife and others. I finally wont bother.

Jesus said, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4 NKJV
"Anyone who isn't with me opposes me, and anyone who isn't working with me is actually working against me. Matthew 12:30 NLT

The scripture says it like this, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6 NIV
12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. Matthew 13:12 NIV

As you see God is after a Christian who will humble themselves and seek His face. Most Christian do not study the word of God, and many go to church for two hours and forget about God the rest of the week. Then you have the Christian that take sound bits of the scripture to fit their personal agenda. Please notice what He stated here: Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. This is why I stated before, you have fans of Jesus Christ and then you have followers (Disciples) of Jesus Christ.

23 Because of the miraculous signs Jesus did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many began to trust in him. 24 But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew all about people. 25 No one needed to tell him about human nature, for he knew what was in each person’s heart. John 2:23-25NLT

What part do you find ridiculous, the 22 hour video or the Joel Osteen(who declines to say that God is the only way)??
Both. Taking Joel first... did you actually watch what happened? I did. That was a shameful exhibition. I know you haven't watched that clip, so when you have, then you will know why I am a bit disgusted at the way he was set up. It would be like me asking you, on national TV, if you had quit beating your wife.

And if you will only listen carefully to less than one minute of the first of those 22 (I did listen to a lot more), you will see the contradictions he is already boxing himself in with. Just keep in mind, very much in mind, "to whom" and "when", as you listen.

Now, he doesn't do anything most people who read Revelation with preconceived assumptions (from their training) also do. And that is just how he will ALWAYS see it, if he is unwilling to read it as if he had not already been told what it is "supposed" to mean. I honestly don't expect even 2% of readers to do anything different... it's really a difficult thing to ask.

that is irrevelant. a liar can claim Christ and fool many and not be saved. im not in anway downing that pastor. just showing that it can be a stumbling stone

The word of God can never be irrelevant! However many believe as you. In other words, they're becoming their own god, creating their own religious universe. They have legalize evil and encourage evil by making the word of God irrelevant. Disconnected from the cross of Christ is disconnection from Gods power.

you method of quoting verses of context isn't revelant to the case.

you assume that you know the men im talking about locally. I think since I have been to their churches, I might know them a bit better. the aog church is old and has been led by the same person since the 70's.
