Hey stovebolts you won't know this because nobody likes to talk about it, but the coup that placed a pro-USA government in Ukraine was facilitated by neo-Nazis, who continue to have a role.
Media echoed the view that the US should have an active role in Ukrainian politics and enforce its perspective through military threats.

This piece was written before the war itself actually happened. Extremely helpful read. Highly recommended.
It was written by one Bryce Greene, a 24-year-old Black writer living in Indiana who appears to have authored a series of what I would characterize as not-exactly-balanced articles, to wit:
https://fair.org/author/bryce-greene/. Bryce got a Bachelor's degree in something called "Informatics" from Indiana University in 2019 and is apparently still a student there. (I see that Informatics is defined as the "science of processing data for storage and retrieval," which might strike some of us as an odd background for someone purporting to analyze Russia's invasion of Ukraine.) He was the President of the Palestinian Solidarity Committee at Indiana University,

Bryce may be a whiz kid, but you'll have to forgive me if I don't attach great weight to his analysis of the invasion of Ukraine. This is especially true since my wife has innumerable relatives, friends and contacts across the border in Belarus (as well as in Ukraine itself). TO A PERSON, they deeply believe Russia's actions are COMPLETELY UNJUSTIFIED AND DEPLORABLE and Putin is pretty much the DEVIL INCARNATE. Bear in mind, these are folks who have utterly no connection to the U.S. and no love for NATO. My wife, a citizen of the USSR for 37 years and of the independent Republic of Belarus for 16 more, hates Russia and Putin so deeply I sometimes have to pull the plug on her PC before she melts down.
So who am I gonna believe, young Bryce in Indiana or my lying eyes?
I know nothing about FAIR, but NPR said "FAIR has a left-of-center orientation and generally goes after news organizations for being too cozy with big business or Republicans." Wikipedia says "Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR) is a progressive left-leaning media critique organization." The author of
Modernizing Democracy: Innovations in Citizen Participation cites FAIR as an example of a group that "can give the appearance of objectivity and yet be totally partisan, biased, or ideological."
So now the question is, Bryce + FAIR or my lying eyes? I don't say Bryce's analysis is completely flawed. To say that, I would have to spend a lot more time on it than I am willing to do, knowing what I now know.
Interestingly, we have one family member living in France - my wife's sister - who spent her youth in Russia and is entirely pro-Putin. In her futile efforts to influence my wife, she sends us numerous links to articles on fringe sites that purport to analyze why Putin's invasion of Ukraine is justified and the U.S. and NATO are pretty much the Great Satan. As with Bryce's article, they are all on fringe sites, ranging from "simply fringe" to "lunatic fringe." There is NEVER, EVER a piece from a reputable journalist working for a reputable source, which I find rather telling.
