Jesus KNEW His sheep,

He should He is their shepherd, but He did not know all Matt 7:

22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

What that mean to you ?
And THERE you go....NEVER knew....FOREKNEW....He KNEW that they would reject HIm !
man....this is as bad as the MDR arena where you can tell the same person the same thing 4000 times and they still dont seem to get it.

Those whom He FOREKNEW He also did predestinate.....TWO steps, the FIRST of which is FOREKNOWLEDGE.

That scripture does not say that He foreknew who would accept Him and predestnated them..

rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

2 cor 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Notice how the scriptures uniformly declares that some have been reconciled unto God, and not God reconciled unto them ! That is because there was no enmity in the mind of God towards the elect[ but love], but the enmity was in our hearts towards Him..
Lucifer and Eve talked with each other in the garden of Eden, because there was an affinity...!

Had there been enmity between Lucifer and Eve....she would have never talked to him in the first place!

  • Ephesians 2:3-5

    3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

    4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

    5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) KJV

sbg...this was the conclusion that came to me after reading your OP...! In making this statement, I was agreeing with you, though saying it a little differently. Do you not see that affinity and enmity have opposite qualities...just like black and white are opposite each other...?

Please note the opposite qualities in your statement below....

All the enmity was in us who by nature hated God, while He loved us with a everlasting love..col 1:

21And you [the elect], that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

YOU DID say this in your OP...

  • James 4:4
    know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. KJV

The natural man hates God and is at 'enmity' with God...and that means the natural man has 'affinity' with the world including the devil...!

sbg...am I reading you correctly...?

My apologies...if I am misunderstanding you...Ret

Yeah I can read, and i did not post what you said, now can you read what i said and be more exact to what i posted..

GOOD sbg...you can read...!

I already posted WHAT YOU SAID...and gave MY thoughts about what YOU SAID.

So I repeat the question....am I reading you correctly...?

My apologies...if I am misunderstanding you...Ret

I did not say MY THOUGHTS were what you posted...I did say 'I was agreeing with you'. So, now I am thinking you did not see 'MY THOUGHTS' as agreeing with 'YOUR THOUGHTS'...that's OK. Just good to be clear.

I will 'highlight' in RED (in your post) the phrase I am talking about...Next...

In the garden of Eden, before Gen 3:15...Eve, by NATURE was at 'enmity' with God and hated God...!

Is that consistent with what you are saying..?

ret :

21And you [the elect], that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

Yes, because of the Fall, all the elect of God are born at enmity towards God..even though He has no enmity towards us..

In the garden of Eden, before Gen 3:15...Eve, by NATURE was at 'enmity' with God and hated God...!

I believe originally she was upright, her and her husband Adam, but because they were flesh, they yielded to temptation, as a result of this the enmity of this death set in..I believe eve sinned more out of infirmity of the weakness of the flesh, and not out of enmity against God, but that the enmity set into her nature immediately following..

OK...I see where you are coming from.

Humanity is natural and made of the earth...Jesus is heavenly and spiritual. Put it all together, Adam and Eve, being natural and earthy were too weak to resist the spiritual wickedness that was in the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For this reason...I believe the nature of Adam and Eve was totally opposite the nature of Jesus Christ, that Jesus Christ, by nature...could not SIN. Adam and Eve, by nature....could not resist sin.

Jesus came to change to NATURE of Adam and Eve (& family)...to make it heavenly & spiritual.

  • 1 Corinthians 15:45-50

    45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul;
    the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

    46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural;
    and afterward that which is spiritual.

    47 The first man is of the earth, earthy:
    the second man is the Lord from heaven.

    48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy:
    and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

    49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy,
    we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

    50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God;
    neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. KJV

So, just because their natures were opposite does not, of itself, mean 'enmity' was present...at least, not until Gen 3:15. The scripture is clear about that which is NATURAL and EARTHY...cannot inherit the kingdom of God.

I would agree with this statement

Yes, by giving them their newbirth because they were of His seed 1 pet 1:23

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Appreciate the discussion. Yes, to be 'born again'...'by the word of God'!
