Those types of transports were common on many waterways throughout history. It's really fascinating to read how various people came up with solutions to problems.

of course. we have images of steamships in color . they use to travel the lagoon to Jupiter.

Those steamships were at times quite dangerous. I no longer remember the stats, but so many of them blew up. Depending upon the body of water, survivors of the steamship explosion might not survive the crocs/alligators/snakes in the area (and that's all dependent on the survivor being able to swim!).

I can believe there would be some along the coast in your area.

Steamships & various styles of riverboats have been found over the decades when dredging the Mississippi River have occurred.

One of the hazards of travel.

Years ago when getting certified for scuba diving, we traveled to a large lake ... got to explore around some of the boats that went down over the years. Rather curious.

the big lake in my state has a few that are very ancient . probably pre America

It's amazing how boats submerged for decades/centuries can remain intact. The way our Lord designed everything is so awe-inspiring!

lake o is at the most 16 feet in depth

I think about the various ships & vessels that have been found in oceans. Watched the documentary when they filmed the actual Titanic (not the movie). It was creepy but still intriguing.

they mention the subs. that's from my area. harbor branch was a big reason it was even found

Very true. It's not just the big ocean liners that are found but subs, schooners, et al. Fascinating to watch the exploration and/or salvage (depending upon who's filming).

Robert Ballard that's who it was.

I think back to the pioneering days of Jacques Cousteau. His innovations were remarkable.
