Route pics

I think back to the pioneering days of Jacques Cousteau. His innovations were remarkable.
Sadly, alvin, alvin Jr and Jason Jr were in bad shape until recently . Harbor branch waa dredged specifically for the boats to use the place.I haven't posted the image.I was just looking at that area earlier.

I understand the dredging reason. The Illinois River is dredged every few years to accommodate barge, boats & river boat traffic.

Off topic ,a.w.young the father of Indian river county is from illinois.it seems my city and county was home to alot of Illinois folks.

Now, that could be a good thing...or ....that could be a bad thing. Depends entirely where they lived in Illinois!

I will ask .I thought "uncle tony" was a vet.I was going to post info on that on the fb pages .it would interesting if he was.since that means two founders or more were vets.

Cool! There's something about trains I've always liked....and discovering old tracks - or where tracks used to be - is like discovering buried treasure. I know....it doesn't take much to make me happy :wave2

I know this intersection well. im on it almost everyday

nearly ww2. the trees are the name sake of three routes an three streets.

Thanks! It had that 'feel' of being from the 40's or so, but with the marvels of modern film making, I wasn't sure.

its also on a post card with the time of 1947.

the car was the give away.

Well....the car possibly could tell the age. But considering how movie companies put sand/dirt to hide paved streets, & roll out the antique cars, one can never be sure.

1947 ... cool!
