The lower one is a tower used to control the shooting of bazooka. This style of tower is old but not the tower shown.the pistol 3 range has a similar tower with the phone boxes.this is army wide.

How old would this one be?
Law range .non creasol poles.probably twenty years old.notice I said style. Most new ranges that are electronic have a taller tower of three stories.the mprc range and m2 ranges have both new and old style towers .the old styles are for unit observation of the troops training.when it was at avenger school we used the old style to watch the rounds hit or miss.

There are ranges that haven't changed since ww2,just the wooden towers have been kept up.those are Kd a,Kd b,kd c.pistol one and two. There were a lot more on north fort.the old ww2 sign for those ranges and others was still up in 2009.

When I think of observation towers, I think of the one in "Stripes" ... the rope climbing scene with the incoming.

Nothing like that.ops are a nudder topic.my first job was heavy on that.mps do that but my unit hasn't trained on an op stuff at all.the part where they had in basic was where I reported to the army to include that building with the flags. The area where they marched to with the land nav course was there still in 91.that is all ww2 era stuff.all of it razed fir the new human resource command.

No, I figured it wouldn't be anything like the scene in "Stripes" ... that's basic training Army-style. You're well beyond basic!

All that is left from the predepression old high school. This gym was built in 65.it had twins.one was at what was called gifford middle seven.inside both were identical.the other is at sebestian middle school.the flc is short for freshman learning center.in my day this the vero beach Jr high school.8th and 9th graders.View attachment 7564 View attachment 7565

It's interesting to see how buildings are re-purposed over the decades.
Gyms location to include a side walk are the same.the side walk isn't as long.the old high school and elementary school were at thus location and both were spanish revival.the last vestiges of the old 1919 high school were torn down in 1994.

i would imagine the school district decided that trying to bring a 1919 building up to code, plus have enough room for all the students, was more costly than building new.

Space.vbhs is just south.of the original high school ,this gym is left and the track which is now a football stadium.the high school with its elementary school to the west weren't able to expand.both were razed in 1977.there are colors photos, and black and white.I use this as a reference to find old homes ,verify 14th avenue.the track is just north of a wooded field in ww2 topos.it helps to have the large map at city hall as reference.
