not sure of the age. I have few piks of one some for the mosquito alley route to take with the oral story of the homes. some are modified. ie stories added , roves having slopes that were once flat. Some of the house designs from the 60s were/are really something else to see. Some are architecturally pleasing... some just aren't.
lol. its not far from the main relief canal. its near the golf course. I have posted the arial of that before. For some reason, the thought of living in an area called Mosquito Alley just doesn't sound pleasant!
no, i have been on routes with the crop duster flying over this area. With all the waterways & ocean around, does the area spray to curtail the mosquito population... or has that become a thing of the past?
I remember the spray trucks thar fogged the whole communities ,man I inhaled that stuff every winter, and whenever they sprayed.they stopped that in the early 90s.it's been noticed by me that we at times have mosquito problems where it wasn't much of a problem when they sprayedSpraying used to be done in many Illinois cities/towns/villages in effort to control mosquito populations. But far too many people complained that the spraying caused health issues, so the sprayings were discontinued. What a mistake!
Brackish water, they can and have but its not common.sharks and dolphins in the lagoon as well.the bridge was a one lane bridge.with the images of this bridge I thought the tender lived in the middle of the bridge.ie the island shown, aptly named hole in the wall island.pylons left from its fire ,the last one stood for decades after it.I remember seeing them from the wabasso bridge as a kid.Love the picture!
Are there any alligators in the area?
Correction,it's one of islands ,but not the that is visible.you can make out where this bridge was today.it was burned down in 49.the pylons I have found in Topos maps of 1951,and I think Google Earth shows themGreat name: Hole in the Wall Island !
