Do you believe we have salvation right now, or the hope of salvation to come.

Without God's grace no one could have ever found faith that is Christ Jesus. It repented God that He even created man, but found favor in only one that by Noah having found grace in the eyes of God being a just man taught his family which became the generational family of God to those who will call on the name of Jesus. Genesis 6:5-9

Faith means the trustworthiness or reliance on Gods word for his salvation for us who believe in him. It's a belief in the promises and blessings of his word and applying his word to our daily walk with him by seeing the confidence in the testimony of others.

The nature of faith is seen through the fruits of the Spirit, which are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance, which these fruits brings about kindness, self control and faithfulness through the works of God that comes from our heart.

Faith gives us freedom from condemnation and freedom of salvation through adoption as we become one body in the Lord as we walk by faith, live by faith, pray by faith and resist evil by faith. By faith we are an overcomer of this world as we stand fast and are grounded in Gods word knowing we have assurance of all of his promises that makes us victorious in all things here on earth by us applying his word to our lives to know for a surety that he will never leave us or forsake us.

Faith is a living reality in ones life through Gods service by declaring his word as we bear witness to his name by the mighty works he has done. It’s not even our faith, but that of Jesus who is our faith as we believe in who he has said he was and to the glory and honor that he has brought before the Father through his life, death and resurrection that we to can become heirs to the throne of grace by coming boldly to his throne and surrendering all of us to him to be Lord and Savior of our live.

Faith means the trustworthiness or reliance on Gods word for his salvation for us who believe in him.

Faith is the substance of the thing hoped for.

It's not the thing itself, but the substance of the thing a person is hoping for.

It also the evidence of the thing you are hoping for that is not yet seen, realized, or obtained.

Faith is what we have, before what we are hoping for is manifested as reality.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

If you have faith for something, then by default you don't yet have that something, but are hoping for that something.

Faith is the substance you have, before you obtain what you are hoping for.

1.) Salvation and 2.) "Born Again", are simultaneous and eternal effects of Faith placed in the Gospel when you are drawn by the Holy Spirit's conviction.
You cant have one without the other, and God is the sole author of both......never you or your works or your effort or your lifestyle or your scripture twisting.
So, any effort a person makes to try to take credit for it or keep it proves they are ither not saved, or they dont understand WHO saved them ...and HOW.... and for HOW LONG.
For an update on all that, see the CROSS and the BLOOD of CHRIST and 1st John 5.
Nothing else will do that you can DO, as God will not accept anything else.

Works or human effort are not mentioned, only faith and what faith is.

Faith is the substance

The word "substance" defines "Faith" as something that is literal, something that is real.
Its not an obtuse idea.
Your bible tells you that "without Faith, it is impossible to please God", and in fact its Faith that releases God to release redemption upon a person who HAS Faith, and without this, He will not do it.
Faith, is trust.
Trust, is real.

Of course the substance is real.

It's the real substance of the thing you are hoping for.

If you actually have the thing you are hoping for, then you don't have faith anymore for that thing you were hoping for, because you have obtained that thing that was not seen before you obtained it.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

That's why it's crucial to continue to have faith to the end of what you are hoping for, so you can obtain the thing your hoping for that is not yet seen, until you have it.

Awesome verse.

Also....

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Romans 8:16

For lack of good verbiage

I am saved
i am being saved
i will be saved
sorta all at the same time..

Yes ma'am.

However if you decide to "convert to Islam" or take the mark of the beast, then as the Holy Spirit says... You have departed from the faith.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,
1 Timothy 4:1

If a person departs from the faith, do they still have faith in Jesus Christ?

They only think they do, but yet lack the substance of their hope that is Christ Jesus nor have they risen with Him as they seek the things of the world and not those things from above where Christ sits at the right hand of the Father, Colossians 3:1-4.

Is there a difference here:

I have faith that the escalator will take me to the next floor.
until I get on it and get to the next floor, my faith is not realized.

What if I have faith in a person?
I have faith that the person is able to do something.
But until they actually do it, my faith is not realized?

Yes there is a difference.

Faith comes by hearing God.

What your describing, is the same thing as a staircase that you can see and have traveled up and down from one floor to another many times, and was built by man, as a device to get from one place to another, such as a wheelchair.

Faith is spiritual substance that is not seen, and is what we have when God speaks to us, and becomes activated [alive] when we act upon, do, or obey, what God tells us to do.

Example: The Lord tells Abraham to leave his father's house and the country where he was living, and to go to another place, a land that He would show to Abraham, [at this point Abraham hasn't been to the land or seen this land yet], and in so ding, God would make of Him a great nation, [at this point, Abraham has no children], but what he does have, is faith from God, which he did not have before God spoke to him.

Now it's up to Abraham, to obey what God has said, so that he would obtain what God has promised, in which he doesn't yet have... but he does have faith, which is the substance of the thing he is hoping for.

The thing that causes Abraham's faith, to become activated, or "alive" and able to produce the divine result in which God intended, is for Abraham to obey, by getting out of his father's house, and setting out to the land the Lord spoke of, even though he didn't really know where he was going.

Now the Lord had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
Genesis 12:1-3

Without this act of faith, what Paul called the obedience of faith, there would be no Isaac, and no Jacob [Israel], and no twelve tribes of Israel, through which the Messiah came.

Can you say: Thank God for verse 4!

So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him...

This event was the Gospel being foreshadowed in the life of Abraham, in which he obeyed, by turning from his old life to the Lord [Repent], to hear and obey His Voice, and follow Him.

8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying,In you all the nations shall be blessed.”9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. Galatians 3:8-9

and again

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8

We have the substance within, the faith we have been given from God, the hope of the thing not yet seen.

Inwardly we know we are sons of God, as the Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of the living God, even though we have not yet obtained the fullness of our salvation.

John says it this way -

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 1 John 3:2

Faith is the evidence of things... not yet seen, but hoped for.

Jesus is not seen.
Faith (believing) is not seen.
Yet, salvation is completed because what is accomplished is in your heart, and GOD SEES THIS, which is your faith, and He saves you one time and for all time.

Ok, now as a person who has been saved and baptized, and goes to Church, and serves faithfully, then because of some offense, decides to renounce his faith in Jesus Christ, and become a Buddhist, and begins to serve Buddha for a few months then is killed in a car accident.

Or maybe becomes an atheist.

This person no longer has faith in Jesus Christ, but has departed from the faith.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 1 Timothy 4:1

A person who has departed from the faith, by which he was first saved, now no longer has the substance of the salvation he was hoping for.

That's the point I am trying to make.

That's why now in these last days it is so important to keep ourselves built up in our faith, spending time with the Lord, worshiping Him, and remaining set apart unto Him, and keeping ourselves unspotted from the corrupting influences of the world, while meditating on His word and keeping our mind set on things above where Christ Jesus is seated at the right hand of God.

There are many Christians who have departed from the faith, so much so there are whole websites dedicated to Christians who have renounced Jesus Christ.

Thanks JLB.
Yes. Faith is a DOING, a movement, a going forward.

That's why James wrote, "Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith." (Jas 2:18 RSV)
It is impossible to show ones faith without acting on it. Faith is inseparable from faithfulness and faithfulness requires that nasty four-letter word: "work.":thud
