Is your name "justbyfaith from LA county" ?
Acts 4:10-12 tells us that there is none other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, other than "the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth".
It is important to include everything mentioned as part of His "name";
Because someone may be referring to a Jesus who is not the Christ (see Colossians 4:11); or of a Jesus who claims to be the Christ who was not born in Nazareth.
There may also be a "Jesus of Nazareth" somewhere along in history who is not the Christ.
So, in order to be speaking of the real Jesus (see 2 Corinthians 11:3-4), it is important to utilize every element of His name when speaking of Him and to understand that in utilizing every element you are speaking His true Name.
Jesus is mentioned 1089 times in the New Testament. So it is not important to include everything mentioned as part of His "name", as there are many times when His name is mentioned without His tile, place of birth, etc. In fact, to show where are clearly wrong, here is Matthew 1:20-21, "But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” So even God's angel didn't say that He was to be named "Jesus Christ of Nazareth".Acts 4:10-12 tells us that there is none other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, other than "the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth".

LOL!!! There were and are many men who have been given the name Jesus, but none of them have been confused with the Messiah. Clearly in order to identify the true Messiah, we do not have to identify Him by every element, i.e. "Jesus Christ of Nazareth". Of the 1,089 times "Jesus" appears in the New Testament, "Jesus Christ of Nazareth" appears twice, roughly 1/500th of the mentions of His name, by the Bible's authors. You are clearly wrong!Clearly, there was a Jesus called Justus; and in history there may indeed have been another Jesus who lived in Nazareth.
So, in order to identify the true Messiah, we must needs identify Him by every element, i.e. "Jesus Christ of Nazareth" if we are going to distinguish Him from other Jesus's who might be in the mix.
As for Paul, it was clear which Jesus he was talking about...for Paul met "Jesus Christ of Nazareth" on the road to Damascus; and his life was forever changed after that.
No, I am not wrong.LOL!!! There were and are many men who have been given the name Jesus, but none of them have been confused with the Messiah. I'm not the one who brought it up, you are. And I agree that it is a peripheral issue, pointless to discuss. No, I am not wrong.
But, believe what you want to on this.
As long as you don't end up mistaking another Jesus for the true Messiah, it is a peripheral issue.
I don't recall who brought it up first. And, what does it matter who did?I'm not the one who brought it up, you are.
So, reread the second part of my post: "it is a peripheral issue, pointless to discuss." So I won't discuss it.I don't recall who brought it up first. And, what does it matter who did?
Fine by me; as long as you don't go trusting in another Jesus because you have not specified the name of the real Jesus properly. So, reread the second part of my post: "it is a peripheral issue, pointless to discuss." So I won't discuss it.
Jesus’s name is Jesus. Nazareth just specifies where he is from to differentiate him from others named Jesus. It’s no different than Simon of Cyrene—Cyrene is not a part of his name, it’s just a way to differentiate him from other Simons.Fine by me; as long as you don't go trusting in another Jesus because you have not specified the name of the real Jesus properly.
You can try to cast out demons in the name of Jesus of Nazareth; but if you are not talking about Jesus Christ of Nazareth, nothing is going to happen.
Likewise with salvation in Acts 4:10-12.
Exactly...and so, in order to specify the real Jesus, one must specify Him by the name "Jesus Christ of Nazareth" (Acts 4:10-12).Jesus’s name is Jesus. Not really. There is no one else in history named Jesus who anyone would think was someone other than Jesus the Christ.Exactly...and so, in order to specify the real Jesus, one must specify Him by the name "Jesus Christ of Nazareth" (Acts 4:10-12).
See Colossians 4:11.Not really. There is no one else in history named Jesus who anyone would think was someone other than Jesus the Christ.
So have I.I have cast demons with the name of the Lord Jesus.
Yes, and was he also called Jesus the Christ? Did Paul say some were mistaking him for the Messiah?See Colossians 4:11.
That's what I'm saying. When we identify Him by name, we qualify that He isn't just "Jesus" or "Jesus of Nazareth" but "Jesus Christ of Nazareth".Yes, and was he also called Jesus the Christ? Did Paul say some were mistaking him for the Messiah?
They had to refer to him as "Justus" in order to distinguish him from "Jesus Christ of Nazareth"; since they generally called Him by shorter versions of His Name.Yes, and was he also called Jesus the Christ? Did Paul say some were mistaking him for the Messiah?
